Dynasty Warriors. Believe me, I like it, but it shouldn't take longer to say the number of the installment than it takes to say the actual name of the game.

do game movies count? Dungeons and Dragons, Bloodrayne and Mortal Kombat all had sequels, none should have.
But the second dnd movie was easily 3-4 times better than the first. Monster rancher, maybe a remake, but there was no point in a true sequel, there was no story. Dino crisis, the first one wasn't very good, liked the second though. COD, they haven't really changed, they aren't sequels so much as, remakes. Patches.

Lost Planet. Hated the game.
Agreed completely.

There are two type of bad sequels that shouldn't have been made: those that had a bad first game and didn't deserve a sequel and those that had an excellent/good first game and didn't need a sequel. Two Worlds falls into the first; Bioshock falls into the second.

DMC was boring, the story wasn't that great and I have never been a fan of the "mash all buttons as fast as you can til everything is dead" style of game play. It takes no thought really, just fast fingers. (that IS what she said) At least god of war had a good story to back it up.
If you are just straight up button mashing on a DMC game, you're doing it wrong =/ And DMC does have a story...somewhat, it just uses ham to push itself along.

Bloodrayne.

This applies to both the game and the movie.

Are people really that desperate for hot vampire chicks?
The game got a sequel? I thought the first whimpered away and died. As for the movie, it's Uwe Boll. How the man made anything after House of the Dead baffles me, nevermind Bloodrayne sequels.

And yes, yes we they are.
I really don't understand why he gets so much shit for the House of the Dead movies... I mean they're slasher movies with zombies set to a game that was so ridiculous it was a spoof of itself... As far as Blood n' Tits zombie movies go the House of the Dead movies were actually very fun to watch.

A few of you already mentioned it: Star Wars Force Unleashed 2.

Yes, it was awesome gameplay to have a Star Wars game work so well with the Wii motion controls, almost good enough for a sequel. but why did you have to make a direct sequel to the plot? The first plot was already bad enough, but trying to force a direct plot sequel was even worse. Not only does Force unleashed 2's plot mess with overall Star Wars canon, but it just messes with even the canon of the first one! Couldn't they have at least thought up a brand new plot if they were going to make a sequel?

Sequels don't bother me so much, developers deserve to leech of the success of their first game, but it does bother me when a sequel is made instead of another better game that fans are screaming for

Dang it LucasArts we want the next Star Wars Battlefield NOW!
it's battlefront, not battlefield, but YES!!! Hell, I'd even be happy with them just remaking the second game with current gen graphics and features!

Well, people are really that desperate for vampires these days.

And have always been desperate for hot chicks...

So yeah.

OT: Nightcaster, the very definition of 'meh'.

Kane and Lynch. Universally hated, and yet it got a sequel. Meanwhile back at the ranch we're still waiting on Beyond Good and Evil...
HATED?! Really? It got average to mediocre reviews. That's not "Universally hated". Also you can blame the creators of Beyond Good and Evil for not getting a sequel out yet http://kotaku.com/5573256/beyond-good--evil-2-being-made-by-small-team-to-preserve-its-soul

I'd say that X8 being made was very surprising considering how terrible X7 was. Then again, even the "creator of Megaman" was surprised when X6 came out since he was somehow not involved. Not that X5 was BAD (I won't go there) but he had intended it to be the last.

Likewise, considering that the Metroid games were supposed to be a trilogy, I was rather surprised when sequels were announced. Perhaps even more surprising was that Fusion did NOT get a sequel.. instead we got MZM which is probably the worst 2-D Metroid game in existence and introduced us to the most unnecessary addition the series has ever seen: The Zero Suit.

In other regards.. I suppose I was really surprised when Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen got a sequel, especially since they were nothing alike. Usually, though, it's the games that DON'T get sequels that grab my attention. Conker's Bad Fur Day, Beyond Good & Evil, and Megaman Legends come to mind.

Fable 2 (I'm surprised they made Fable 3, that is. Fable 1 was fine).

Also, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. The sequels are a huge improvement, but the original was pretty monotonous.

Personally, I found Zero Mission to be far superior to Fusion.
