Um...well...Im of 2 minds here.
On one hand, it could be good. In that over the top action movie, Inglorious Basterds kind of way. It can be fun to just mow down Nazis, and though it risks being kind of derivative next to Borderlands, theres enough room for deviation to make it a solid game. Gearbox has a pretty solid track record.
On the other hand, I have applauded Brothers in Arms in the past for being one of the very few WW2 games with a sense of gravitas. Most portray the fighting as exercises in strategy and twitch, or a good versus evil story. Those things are fine, but Brothers in Arms was the rare game that actually had emotional impact. You sense that whats happening is sad and terrifying, not something to cheer about. And that earned it a niche I deeply respected. this complete 180 is just way too jarring. It's like if the sequel to Shindlers List were a wacky sitcom. The context is just to grating, it undermines the entire end result. I understand that Gearbox wants a recognizable IP to slap onto a new game to feel safer with sales, and there is this WW2 name right there that you own but seriously, this needs a different name. Start with a new name and we can go into the game thinking of it as a new IP, not as the demise of a previous one.
