What the hell is this? It's like there making Inglorious Basterds: The game. I want to see what happens to Baker? Hells Highway was a great game and the story was really picking up steam. Seriously, what were they thinking?

I loved BIA. Why? The realism. Glad that is being carried over into this game. If your brain melted, it was due to the sarcasm.

Personally, I would have loved to have been at that meeting:

Person A: We're going to make another instalment of a popular war series with basing in reality, vulnerability and character depth. We already have one set up from the end of Hells Highway, that will take place in the Arnhem offensive. This hasn't been done much in an FPS, so it should give us a lot to work with. Should we roll with that?

Person B: I just heard about this true story about a bunch of guys that went and tried to kill Hitler. They called themselves the Inglorious Basterds.

Person A: No, that was a film that was on yesterday. You slept through most of it.

Person B: So we'll do it?

Person A: Please kill me

Person B: Lets make one of them a crazy Texan!

God I hope they scrap this. And either do what they did with Splinter Cell Conviction, and just completely redesign the game once the inevitable uproar from the fanbase is heard. Thus preventing Brothers in Arms from jumping the shark with a freaking fridge.
Or if Gearbox is dedicated to this design choice, than just call it Furious Four. It will save some of gearbox's now tarnished respectabilty.

All I have to say is, "Jump the shark with a freaking fridge" FTW.

People all complain that modern shooters today are too gritty and realistic. Ok says gearbox, we'll make an overtop shooter in which you can go ballistic and kill nazis "No that's stupid" say the fans. At least they are trying something different, even if it is a little silly? Is duke nukem any different?

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware Duke Nukem started as a game that was already well-established as a serious war drama with realistic, tactical gameplay.

Alright guys, listen: it's not that they're making a game that isn't realistic. It's that they're taking a game that's already established as being something and making it something completely different. As fans of that game, yes, we're going to be pissed off.

The issue is not the style of the game, but the fact that none of the previous titles were anything like this.

Imagine if Mass Effect 3 was suddenly slapstick or something, it wouldn't be a real 'Mass Effect' sequel.

Well what could I do? Jumping the shark wouldn't have throughly gotten my feelings across, and I don't want to spend all my time complaining. lol :p

Inglorious Basterds: The Game
My thoughts exactly when I saw it on E3 stream last night. Can't complain though, not sure what the franchise was earlier, but the new stuff looks like it has potential (not that I'm saying they're gonna make use of that potential...)

Yeah, if it was some new series, cool. But their using the Brothers in Arms name, even if the games are only similar in setting.

Also im pretty sure no one in the BIA fanbase asked for the games to be less realistic.

I...liked it. It looks sort of interesting and fun. Course, I never played the other Brothers in Arms games. Would have been better if they changed the title.

one of the saddest days of my life as brothers in arms has one of the best stories for a video game and that just looked retarded

Hey, give it a chance, it could just be a very good satire, we don't know yet, geart box seems to think it's clever enough to be witty, lets see.

But that´s the thing...
If they didn´t call it "Brothers in Arms" noone would complain as much.
People EXPECT such gameplay from Duke Nukem, but people don´t expect such gameplay from...say a Call of Duty game, do they?
What if Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 turned into something like this?
Would you think the fans would take that so easily?

No, they wouldn´t...

I myself, am shocked to see what the hell happened to the name BIA, and the stuff it stood for.
I hope they revamp that. There has been a tragic death involved in the dev team of BIA, but seriously, THIS is what they want to continue his legacy with?
