To be fair on Wednesday when the patch was released the servers available in game were less than stable, we got through 8-9 before a friends one finally updated and we played on that (this might not of been so in other regions but it was for the UK).

As for the downloading thing, set your download region to New Zealand. The sheep there have little use for the content server and it maxed out mine and my friends connection nicely, allowing for a speedy download.

It's your end, dude.
/thread. Also, I just played two games of crash course versus no more than five minutes before posting this. It worked fine. Felt good, man.

I just felt screwed by valve for not providing more downloadable content. So, I don't see myself buying L4D 2.

Stop whining.

This always happens with updates.

It's just the name of the game. Perhaps the servers hadn't updated yet?

Still gonna get Left 4 Dead 2. Your reasoning is not sound in the slightest.

Bought it yesterday, so far enjoying it immensely.

Too bad number 2 is banned here (just gonna steam/torrent it anyway).

What country do you live in, the server you join is determined by the country you live in. I live in Europe so maybe I am getting stuck with crappy Euro servers that can't handle the load or perhaps the Euro servers are overloaded and we are getting shunted to American servers. All I know is the problem is not with my system and not with my connection.

I also know it worked faultlessly before the update when their were fewer people playing and now it doesn't. I can also say it is the servers fault because it affects everyone in the game not just me.

Uhhh. You play on the PC. The Dlc is free! Why are you complaining about something that was given to you? It's like a poor man complaining about the free clothes that someone gave him.
Missed the point really, I don't care about the DLC, in fact I've played it once since I got it and it is mediocre at best. What I do care about is the fact I paid for a game that I can't play because it is being adversely affected by this somewhat so so DLC. All they had to do was ensure their servers were robust enough to deal with the added interest that would be generated by the new DLC, something of a prerequisite when you have a game that essentially has to be played online.

It feels like they just left the servers as is and they are now overloaded as a result of the 30 or so Crash Course games that always seem to be running.

The reality is major Steam games seem to always suffer from overload and a total lack of preparedness on the part of Valve when it comes to anticipating the numbers that will play the game. It's happened before and chances are when L4D2 comes out the same shit will happen again.

Really? How many hours of fun did you have with L4D? How many hours does it take to make $50 worth it?

Just curious.

I'm never going to understand why gamers will find any idiotic reason to crucify developers that are actually helping the industry while championing any company that can slap together a generic space marine shooting game.

It's like they want the industry to crash again.

Servers are always crap immediately after major updates. It's because everyone scrambles to play the new update, all the good servers get used up, leaving either nothing or terrible servers. Come back 3 days later, no problems.

This isn't much of a reason.
