When her leg was released, and Victoria staggered back, Idun took quick steps forward to stay in attacking range. Hoping to drop Victoria while she was still recovering, Idun twisted her body to the side a little, and hooked her left leg behind Victoria's. This was quickly followed by a forceful palm thrust, aimed at Victoria's sternum.
Successful in bringing Victoria down, Idun decided to take one out of Victoria's book. After quickly bending through her knees so that the impact would be lessened, Idun bended her right arm, and dropped down towards Victoria, aiming to land her elbow drop on Victoria's stomach region.
Victoria rolled to the side out of the way and stood back up as Idun attempted an elbow drop on her. After spitting out some blood and teeth, she stepped towards Idun and swung her right foot in a wide arc to kick her in the stomach.
Having not foreseen the downside to the elbow drop, Idun let out a pained grunt as she landed on the ground with the elbow. While her dropping from a lower height and the sand migated the impact to some extend, it was still rather painful. With squinted eyes, Idun was about to stand back up, but was kicked before she could do so.
With a muted gasp, Idun rolled involuntarily rolled onto her back. She coughed while holding her stomach, and in doing so, was left open to a follow-up attack.
Hoping to take advantage of winding Idun once again, Victoria threw herself down onto Idun, back-first. Lacing her left arm behind Idun's leg and her right arm around the back of her head, Victoria pulled both her arms towards her body to put Idun into a submission hold.
After Homer and Lucina entered the arena, the doors shut and the arena began changing again. The voice rang out again, announcing that the contestants would be fighting waves of opponents, rather than each other. An image of humans, carrying crude stone axes, displayed itself on the arena wall, next to a large red number 5. The combatants may work out that this was a representation of the first wave.
That's my last post for the night. I'll start off the fight proper tomorrow.
It would take Idun roughly two seconds to catch her breath again, during which Victoria would have a easy time to pin Idun down. Victoria throwing herself onto Idun bought Victoria more resistance-less pinning time, Idun groaning deeply as the heavy Victoria landed on her.
After she recovered, Idun's first thoughts were to try and get up. She bended her free arm and leg, placing the hand and foot firmly on the ground, then pushed off it with all her might. Even in just using the two limbs, Idun was able to push herself up while weighed down by Victoria without too much difficulty, although the position was far from stable. After, Idun tried to free her pinned limbs, pushing them away from her centre of mass and breaking Victoria's hold in doing so.
She likely wouldn't have much success against Victoria's metallic arm, but Victoria might have a difficult time keeping Idun pinned with her organic arm, as Idun was able to comfortably lift 80kg/176lbs with one hand.
Idun managed to break her arm and head free from the hold of Victoria's right arm, however Victoria was quick to return to the offensive. Taking her now free right arm, she reinforced the hold she had on Idun's leg by now using both arms. Afterwards, she threw her weight hard to her right as if rolling, intending to pin Idun against the ground again, and this time hold her lower body off the ground.
"Mmm.... Let's just say that she can do the same things you seem to be able to. She's just been at it for quite a long while." Kagura replied, smiling softly toward Annika all the while. "I can do similar things, but the gods tend to look down on those who do, so I have to refrain."
The arena around Homer and Lucina would change into a field, with a small fort in front of them. The sky above darkened, and filled up with starts and a full moon. There was a medieval look about the fort, it being made of stone and surrounded by wooden barricades, with braziers lighting it. Despite this, however, there were anti-aircraft guns mounted on some of the towers.
Sitting by Homer and Lucina was a van. Its back doors were open, revealing a number of weapons. There were a few rifles and pistols that Homer would recognise, as well as swords familiar to Lucina. There were also knives, shotguns and two pairs of caestus. The caestus would resemble hand-wraps, however they were made of leather and had metal studs on the areas the user would strike with.
The gates to the castle slowly opened, revealing the first five opponents. They were carrying stone weapons, that had obviously been made in a hurry, and were not well armoured. Some were wearing leather armour, however others wore makeshift armour made of 21st century protective gear from various sports. Though the gate was open, none of them moved yet, bound in place by ethereal light.
This is a relatively simple challenge for the arena combatants to try out. All they have to do is defeat a number of waves of enemies. Once a certain number of waves are over, the entrance to the next zone will be opened up. Once all zones have been completed, the combatants will have to defeat a boss in order to be victorious.
Each wave will get progressively harder, due to altering terrain, increased number of opponents and opponents with better technology.
If a combatant is killed, they will be returned to the locker room. Combatants will be given the option to exit the challenge after each round. If a combatant exits the challenge, either by death or by choice, they can return at a later point, and start at the beginning of any zone they have reached.
In other words, if a combatant reaches Zone 3, they can start again later at the beginning of Zones 1, 2 or 3.
The announcer's voice rang out, giving the combatants, and the viewers, a quick explanation of the rules for this challenge type. The screens displaying the challenge in the locker room and dorm showed a third-person view of Homer and Lucina, with the view directed towards the castle. An image of a stone axe was displayed in the top left, next to a large red number 5.

"I'm not that surprised. Being able to bind spirits isn't that uncommon where we're from, it's just most people lack the knowledge." the bear replied.
Annika asked, after taking a moment to actually count them. Again, the bear translated.
Lucina having the rules explained to her, looked over the rifles available and picked one similar to what Homer had given her, a semi automatic. She was ready.
The light holding back the five opponents suddenly faded. The two in more modern gear held the other three back, approaching cautiously. They had obviously recognised the guns, and knew they were out-equipped. One of the combatants, in leather armour, suddenly charged at Homer and Lucina, yelling loudly and preparing to swing his axe.
"Oh? Well, that's interesting to hear." Kagura replied to the bear with a little smile. "It's not knowledge you'd want everyone to have... It would be disastrous otherwise." Her ears flicked as she looked up toward Annika and waited for the bear to translate. She smiled softly once more. "It's a trait of my... how do you humans call it.... eh... species?" Her tails flicked as she thought about the word. "We have the ability to grow a tail every 100 or so years of life, and each one gives us more wisdom and power. Those are both things a sane person wouldn't try to avoid obtaining."
