"Hmph. Humans. Never did know one that could even hold the gaze of a strong Argonian." He snorted and brushed past her, starting off down the hall, but only went a short before stopping and clenching his fists by his side, head bowed.

"Did I? Gods curse it... were there not some?" He muttered to himself, then growled in frustration. Snapping around he fixed his gaze on Diana again.

"This place, you say it is a fighting arena? There are some warriors capable enough to hold a sword then?"

Argonians? So that's what these talking snakes call themselves. Diana almost voiced that comment, but decided at the last moment that making the monster more angry was a bad idea. "Yes. Maybe not right at this moment, however."

"Oh? And why is that?" The Argonian demanded, beginning to pace back and forward. His tail whipped around in his agitation, occasionally striking the wall with an audible crack.

"It is dependent on time. It is strange in this place. All but you and I are most likley asleep right now."

"And you are not a fighter of any kind?" the Argonian sneered, leaning against the wall with one outstretched arm. He clenched his hand against the wall, his claws gouging into the hard surface.

Diana took offense to that. Anger crept into her voice, and she stood tall. "I am a Deimancer of Shinestone. I have trained for years to make myself powerful, and I wield power you could never understand, scaled vermin."

At this the Argonian almost appeared to grin, and he seemed to relax slightly.

"Ah, so you have some fire? I did not expect so much. Nonetheless, I think you will find that inability to understand magic is not the same as an inability to counter it. Many mages have made that mistake before and I have punished them severely for it."

"We shall settle this in the arena then." Diana walked to the lockers, but stopped midway, turned the the lizard man, and began clapping slowly. "But I must say, in a way, you have won allready. You have enough of a mind to understand what magic is." Her voice was dripping with condescencion. She stopped clapping, and continued to the lockers, taking off the glove on her left hand but making sure to keep the hand out of the Argonian's sight.

OoC: It's actually kinda fun to be a smug, racist *****.

The Argonian bared its teeth and growled.

"Good. My blade... this blade should taste blood, and soon." He turned and strode off towards the arena. As he turned Diana might have noticed a relatively short recurve bow slung across his back with a leather quiver.

OOC: A good match for what is essentially a pre WAOA Dromaeus.

After changing into her armoured robe, Diana grasped her staff in her fight hand and a crystal in her left. She went into the arena.

OoC: Any requests for terrain?

OOC: Nah. Dromaeus is versatile enough for basically any terrain.

As soon as Diana was out in the open the Argonian drew his sword and charged, hunching behind the shield and rushing her to slam the heavy iron and oak into her sternum.

OoC: K then. I'd say the arena is bassically the hall of the Companions, minus the tables and people.

"Tonight's combatants! Dromaeus and Diana!"
Diana saw the Argonian charge. She took out a glowing crystal, and squeezed it. The glow seemed to vanish as she did so. When the glow was completly gone, she slammed her staff into the ground. The staff caused a shockwave, and a spiked wall of earth appeared in front of her, trying to stop Drom cold.

Dromaeus stumbled nder the force of the shockwave, and came to a halt before the wall. He snarled at the sight of the mound of soil that blocked the way forward, but then began to look around for another way. The flipside of the wall's protection was that Diana couldn't see Dromaeus. Like a shadow, he scrambled up a wall before seizing a torch bracket, pulling himselff up and disappearing into the spacious rafters.

Diana heard something and pulled down the wall, but Drom had vanished. She created a tounge of flame, letting it coil around her staff as she wandered around warily, her head on a swivel.

Dromaeus leapt from rafter to rafter, his soft soled boots muffling the sound and his learned grace allowing him to settle his weight without making the wood creak. He moved like a phantom. Sheathing his sword slowly, he unslung his bow with a similarly careful motion and fitted an arrow, caressing the flight. He noticed with some appreciation as he did this that the small size of his shield meant that he didn't have to lay it aside to draw the bow, though he did not know what kind of shield he was comparing it against. Watching from overhead as Diana moved across the floor, exposing herself for a clear shot, he drew back the heavy bowstring and loosed an arrow at her back, between the shoulder blades.

Diana stumbled forward as the arrow hit her back. Though the impact was softened by her leather armour and she didn't really feel much pain from it, the suprise was still enough to make her lose her concentration. The flame around her staff almost dissapated, but Diana took it, turned it into a fireball, and threw it at the roof, hoping to shed some light on the arena.

Dromaeus ducked as the fireball came his way, but he was used to evading such a predictable magic attack. The fire did illuminate the shadowy recesses in the rafters as it struck the ceiling and briefly silhouetted the assassin's coiled, sinuous form, then he flashed out of the crimson darkness with scales and eyes blazing, his sudden lunge bringing him down almost on top of Diana. His sword and a curved dagger appeared in his hands and lashed out at her throat and belly, seeking to disembowel and bleed her dry.

Diana shifted her grip on her staff, holding it by one end. She swung it like a club, hoping to knock Dromaeus off course in mid air.

When Diana swung her club she managed to strike Dromaeus on the side of his upper jaw with a solid blow, knocking him sideways with a screech. She missed his sword however, and it scored a line across her chest from collarbone to ribs of the opposite side. Dromaeus crashed awkwardly to the ground, but even as he did so he lashed out with his tail. It was as thickly muscled as a python of comparable size and delivered a hammer blow to her shins.

The sword sliced through armour, cloth and skin, but didn't deal a mortal blow. Diana fell when the tail attacked her legs. She got up, cultching her wound with one hand. With the other, she conjured what seemed like a ball of wind. She threw it at Drom. if it connected, it would have the force of a speeding chariot behind it.
