Dromeaus had scrambled to his feet when Diana fell, and as he was already standing when she got up, used the time to flick his dagger at her face. As he did so he saw that it would not stop her spell and twisted out of the way. He avoided the blast partially but was sent spinning through the air, crashing to the ground once more before coming to rest against a wall. Pushing himself up against it he groaned and flexed his left shoulder, wincing. Surprisingly, the blast didn't seem to have broken anything, a result that had less to do with the crude fur armour of shield and more to do with the Argonian's impressive physique. Gritting his teeth against the pain, he began a loping charge at her again.

Diana suspected the beast probably wouldn't fall for the same trick twice, so she took the offensive. Undoing a clasp at the center of her staff, turning it into two batons, she covered them with fire and ran forward, swinging.

Dromaeus hissed with frustration on seeing that his thrown dagger had failed to strike the witch. However, his anger turned to savage triumph when he saw that she was actually going to try and close with him in close combat. Taking a firm grip on the hilt of his sword he bellowed a wordless challenge and waded straight in. He met both her initial swings of the batons with two forceful parries that forced her guard wide open and then, before he even brought his sword back to a ready position, he lashed out with his left hand aiming to rake his claws across Diana's exposed throat with a swift jab.

OoC: Oh shit, forget about the dagger. Lets just say she dodged it.

Diana stepped back, the claws coming withing milimeters of her throat. They actually did connect to an extent, parting skin and drawing blood, but they didn't rip her neck out. She held both batons in front of her in a defensive stance, going for a low, sweeping kick.

Dromaeus leered at the sight of blood welling up from the cuts on Diana's neck. Even though the blow hadn't struck deep, it made her look even more vulnerable to a man who sliced throats for a living. He skipped back and the forward again, evading her kick with the contemptuous ease of a very experienced swordsman. He now began to press forward, crowding Diana and flicking his sword out high and low, not going in for a killing blow but forcing her to remain on guard and concede ground steadily.

Up at the gallery, a person was running with a large mechanical thing strapped to his back, as two guards attempted to slow down the chasing Meta. One of them was quickly dispatched, and was sent flying down to the arena. He landed close to Dromaeus and Diana with a splat.

Diana stepped back, losing ground, keeping both batons in front of her to block Dromaeus' barrage. Waiting for an opening, she covered one fist in the same windball she had thrown earlier.

Dromaeus saw the windball appearing in Diana's hand and knew from fighting mages in the pat that he had to interrupt it before she could throw it. Seeing that she couldn't lash out effectively with the batons in time he went on an all out attack and hurled himself into her, bringing his blade down viciously at her left collarbone while thrusting forward with his right shoulder behind the blade. As committed to the offensiveas he was he gave no notice to the body that fell into the arena, though he was aware of the impact and didn't forget that it was there.

Diana was knocked over by Drom's charge and didn't block the stab to the collarbone in time, the blade peircing through her armour and into the bone. Her left hand opened reflexivly, and the windball disapated. She managed to block the thrust, however, and kicked Drom away. Standing and clutching her useless arm, she turned her head breifly, looking at the body that had fallen into the stadium.

OoC: Sup guys.

Carmen and Rex were both watching from the duel from the lounge.

"Woah. They're just throwing dead bodies in as hazards?"
"How crude..."
"Wait... Haven't you made out with--"
"NO! nonononononono! ....NO!"
"As long as you're sure..."

Dromaeus took the kick and allowed himself to be driven back a bit. Though his thick armour and toughened frame meant that it caused him little pain and would have been easy push past with brute force if he wished, it gave him a chance to regroup and assess the damage he had done. Diana's wound was severe and he grinned to himself, knowing that her position had become desperate. To his amazement, she then looked off to the side at the body, an unforgivable mistake in such a close-up duel. He did not look around himself, instead trusting his other senses to warn him of an approaching threat as he darted towards Diana. He heard no sound from behind him and grunted with satisfaction before reaching out to wrap hand around the back of her neck, thrusting forward with the point of his sword as he did so.

OOC: Hey @Dot.

OoC: @Dot: Um... so, necrophilia?

Diana had only turned to look for a split second, but Drom had capitalised on it. She felt something stab through her, and though it deflected off the ribs slightly, it still went into her lung. She then felt claw tighten around her neck. Breathing raggedly, she turned to look at Drom, determined anger in her eyes. "I will not lose... to an ANIMAL!" She brought up her good hand, wreathed in flames, and grabbed Drom's face. Left alone for too long, the heat would burn the flesh off his skull.

Dromaeus roared in pain as the flaming hand immediately caused his scales to crack and peel away, the heat drying his left eyeball in an agonising pain that he immediately knew would not heal. He twisted away to the right, away from the burning hand while at the same time ripping his claws back and to the right as well. They accomplished what he had intended to do the first time, severing Diana's carotid artery and splitting open her trachea. He staggered away before the first arterial spurts flew, dropping his sword to clutch at his face.

"***** of a mammal!" He bellowed through his fingers.

Diana felt her neck split. She immediatly put out the flames in her hand and grabbed at the wound, trying to stop the gush of blood, without much sucsses. She fell to her knees, gurgling and weakening rapidly, blood dripping from her hand in nightmarish quantities.

Rex lurched back in his chair a bit as he saw Diana get her throat slit. "Woah... brutal. This lizard dude's no joke."

Dromaeus shuddered and lowered his hands, forcing himself not to moan at the pain that mostly stemmed from his visibly ruined eye. He approached Diana from the front so that for a moment she was kneeling before him, head bowed and clutching at her throat. Taking a deep breath he steadied himself and planted a foot on her chest, shoving her so that she fell on her back in the dirt. He stood over her and glared down from his full height.

"I will never allow myself to be belittled by your kind again, human." He spat, before stepping over her and walking off towards the hearth near the back of the great hall arena, brooding silently and gritting his teeth against his agony.

Diana could barely feel anything by the time Drom pushed her onto her back. Hand still at her throat, her struggling and gurgling slowed and grew quiet, until her hand went limp and dropped to the ground. Eyes staring unseeing at the burning remnants of the ceiling, her chest, hand and face awash with her own lifeblood, Diana died.

"Dromaeus is the victor!"
A team of medics came out of the woodwork, hurring towards Drom. After fully healing him, they vanished once more. The arena disintegrated, leaving behind a wireframe. Diana's corpse persisted, but eventually it too dissapeared.

Diana fell out of a respawn tube in her flat, her companions huddled around her as she gasped and grasped at her thoat out of relex. "By the spirits... we saw everything..."
"Are yo-"
"I just had my throat torn apart by an accursed beast! What do you think?!"

OoC: Fuck, my own death writing scares me...

OOC: @Gear That was pretty fantastic, yeah. The whole fight was a very good one actually. Great fun, nice job. Unfortunately, it's now 5 in the morning. So I am going to call it a night.

Dromaeus remained silent as the medics worked on him. At another time he might have lashed out at them too for their involvement in what was happening, but he was too busy thinking of what he was missing. He had said earlier that he was a noble... but was he? And a noble of what house? What made him so, for that matter? Wasn't he just a former bandit who had developed a talent for assassination and swordsmanship? What was hidden in that missing period?

He began to wander back out of the arena slowly as he pondered this, heading back towards the dormitories and the burnt out room where he had found himself.

OOC: morning.

Tahril returned to his room after the fight, eager to fight again. He knew something was wrong. In fact he planned on something going wrong. This place had killed him and he would see it pillaged. He grinned in his room. His Kabal would bring destruction should he get the chance.
