He grinned when Marisa mentioned the bandits, almost forgetting about the task he was assigned. All he could think of was the glorious combat to come.

"Right! Now you're speaking my language." He clasped his hands together, grinning even wider and leaning back, almost as if he felt relaxed. He seemed to be lost in thought for a moment, before snapping out of it and returning back to reality.

Upon being explained what they should do he frowned slightly. "Why'd we need anyone else? We can just wade into them and show them what for. We've got armour, a weapon or two and the blessing of the War God."

He thought about it for a little while, then grinned, looking enthusiastic about the coming battle. "Then again, perhaps, you're right. The more the merrier, right? Plus, if we get done with them quickly, we can go and have a drink, then maybe go see if we like the job this "laird" fellow offered me. Don't know the specifics, since apparently he doesn't much like dwarves that can take down a bunch of guards, although noisily and with a lot of col-collar-..." he frowned again, trying to think of the word. "...damage to stuff."

As Marisa went off to the pub, he followed her closely, looking at the shadows, trying to spot the rogue. And anyway, she may need someone to bash heads and people. Nothing could make him happier.

Upon the mention of drinks, reggie smiled widely. To him there was almost no situation that couldn't be improved with drinks...at least, temporarily.

As Marisa and Wulfstain walked quickly towards the pub where they hoped to find the wizard, reggie followed them, combing the streets for the rogue, willing for him not to be there. It wasn't that he didn't like Deasil or anything, it's just that Deasil was a rogue and, by nature and reasoning, hard to trust and reggie was convinced that if he took his eyes off of him, Deasil would steal his money.

Rhogar quickly had made his way to the western exit of town, stopping by a nearby stable in order to rent a horse for the trip. After double checking his gear, he found out the location of the nearest farm in the area to the west and headed out, hoping to get to the farm while it was still day. He would find out what he could about the trouble, and then figure out a plan from there.

A little rushed but I'm going to assume my trip through the town and such was uneventful

As Marisa headed off to the Tavern, Deasil let out a sigh of relief. The last thing he wanted was to be seen walking around with a bunch of holier-than-thou lunatics with swords. He grasped the Brooch he had in his palm, the gem burning to the touch. he wanted to be rid of it. Deasil waited until he was sure Marisa was gone, and then made his way across the street, searching for a store, preferably a jeweler.

Deasil would find a jeweler easily enough. This was a city large enough to host one, though obviously he wasn't quite as profitable as some of his larger city counterparts, Deasil had reason to doubt this man had much competition.
The jeweler nearly jumps out of his seat when Deasil offers him the brooch.
"Um, can you wait here a minute? I, um, I need to go get a utensil I left at home last night. Yeah." and scurries out of his store.

badgering wizard player.

Deasil was worried. the Jeweler was...odd. he feared that he might report him to the town guard, or worse. so, he took a quick look around the Store, his eyes peeled for any shine-ies that would look good in his pouch.

I have just now realized I failed. I was intending to mention that the jeweler took the brooch with him.
Apologies for my failure, but the next bit does not make sense without it and it has not come up as an issue otherwise yet, so... we shall simply say it happened, and Deasil would have noticed it immediately. Though I doubt Deasil's reaction would change, I will give you a chance to change it before I respond to your post. Let me know whether or not something changes, please.

Figured i would get us (or at least me) to the tavern already. may add more.

Reggie walked behind Marisa and Wulfstain, then with them, and finally in front of them, His paranoia about Deasil stealing his wallet slowly fading away as his mind wandered to other things, like how awesome he considered himself and how he thought he could drink the dwarf under the table. It wouldn't be easy, and he figured he'd have to get himself in the right mindset but with enough effort he figured even Wulfstain would go down (yes, he thought this all out, dispite not knowing how well Wulfstain held his liquor).

As the tavern came into veiw his thoughts turned to getting the wizard to join them. To tell the truth, the Dragonborn wizard creeped him out, perticularly with his short snout, but he wasn't going to let that get the best of him. Reginald was sure that with Marisa and Wulfstain around, Lemnosk would join quickly. Two paladins and a dwarf would do that to you...in reggie's mind at least.

He walked to the tavern, opened the door, greeted the doorman, and walked in, ready to look for Lemnosk. "Hmm...were do i beg-" he started to say before he did a spit-take at the doorman, only to find that it wasn't a man, it was a certain wizard whom he was looking for. He walked up to Lemnosk and immediatly remembered the height difference between them. Lemnosk easily stood over Reggie, making him feel short.

"Ey. What do you think about quitting this place and going to beat the crap out of some bandits? Our employer, the bishop in ye olde cathedral over there, needs some of them taken out, mainly because of their willingness to attack nuns and steal valuble treasures, treasures, i might add, that we could say "liberate" them of...besides, a guy like you can do better than being a doorman."

(ah, I see. no trouble Flare, ill just re-do my post)

Deasil was worried. he never should have handed over the brooch. the merchant was shifty, to shifty for his taste. he could smell a scam a mile away...he figured if this merchant was going to screw with him, he would fight back, and see if he couldn't nick a few souvenirs from the shop, and then book it. it was only fair, after all.

Thievery check: 22.

Deasil finds some nifty stuff as he looks behind the counter, but even as he moves to grab a few the sound of heavy metal armor clanking down the street approaches.

The store is pretty barren, just a front and a back, but without exploration Deasil doesn't know what is in the back.

More importantly, the decision must be made now.

"this ain't good" Deasil said to himself. Heavy armor meant guards, and while the tempting allure of the backroom was strong, he knew all too well the consequences of being caught red-handed. quickly grabbing whatever he could find behind the shelf, Deasil then darts his eyes around the room, looking for a window, or any other "exit" he could use.

There's a single window, and it could be reached with a jump and a climb (acrobatics), but it does lead out front.
There's also a door to the back, and whatever it leads to.

(also, roll a d20 and I'll pick what you nabbed.)

After quickly swiping whatever he could find under the table, he makes a jump for the window.

(17 on my swipe check, 26 on the acrobatics check)

I'm not willing to force you guys to wait any longer. Assume the Wizard player is no longer with us.
That in mind, we have need for another controller player if anyone would like to recruit.
And do move on, please.

Deasil runs and grabs the edge of the window, holding tight as he pulls himself up. Even as me moves to scramble through, the door underneath him bursts open and three armored men jump in.
There is a long tense moment as Deasil struggles to not make a sound.

Finally one points at the other two.
"You two, check out the back, I'll stand guard here."
The shop keep waddles in befuddled at Deasil's quick escape.

The two other men run out the back to look for the thief, and the one in charge moves just outside the door to stand guard. The shopkeep moves to check his inventory.
Deasil can slip through the window, but he will have to be very stealthy to land with out a sound, and without attracting the attention of some of the market folk outside. It is rainy though, so as long as he can be quiet there is no reason to assume the folk would give him a second thought.

(27 on stealth check)

Deasil did his utmost to creep onto the ground below, praying to the boots on his feet that his step is light.

Reggie looked at the Wizard in anticipation. waiting for him to accept...but he didn't, he just stood there, glaring at reggie.

"What? You don't wish to come? Fine by me, i'll just go tell Marisa and Wulfstain and we'll go on without you..." Reggie said as he walked out of the tavren...almost right into Marisa and Wulfstain.

"Hey. Our little wizard friend doesn't want to join us. I just asked him if he wanted to come and all he did was stare at me, so yeah..." Reggie said, scraching the back of his head. "Anything else you think we need or can we get the lead out?", He said while wondering why the hell his head was iching.

Marisa stared at Reggie for a while. This kid seemed to have trouble focusing.
"Hm.. that is problematic. I don't think we can handle this number of bandits on our own, but it looks like we have little choice. Little choice when time is short makes for no choice. We shall leave on the morn, then. Could either of you spare me some coin for food and a room?
We should stay at this place. See if we can find someone else during the evening or morning."

Wulfstain rummaged through his clothes and pulled out a small bag that lightly clanked with the few coins he had. He gave it to Marisa. "There," he mumbled. "You'll owe me a mug of ale after we're done with those bandits. Don't worry, though. I can sleep outside. I've got a tent and I'm used to being outside."

He lowered his maul and placed his armoured fist on the handle. "Hn. I cannot wait for tomorrow, for crushing these bandits in the name of the War God is important. Just let me at 'em. Hahaha."

He grinned widely.

Marisa took a slight bow before the dwarf as she accepted the coin. "Thank you, good sir. I've indeed been sleeping outdoors for the past years, but right now you seem to be the only one with a tent."

She glided up to the bartender and asked for a room, supper and breakfast, all the while keeping one eye on the patrons of the establishment.
Provided with a plate of cold meat, bread and water, she sat down at a table and observed what passed for socialising in this town.
She was, herself, a social creature, but had travelled far greater distances than what was recommended these past days, and was utterly exhausted, as good as she was at hiding that. A Paladin must never show weakness. She ate slowly, consumed by contemplation.

The dwarf mumbled quietly. "No need to thank me. Just doing what I must. Try not to die in there."

A while later, he found himself sitting opposite the inn on a small bench and leaning against the stone wall behind him. He mumbled under his breath the prayers of an angry god, while waiting for exhaustion to finally overcome him. Taking care to hide all of his valuables inside his plate armour, put his maul in front of him, his armoured fists carefully placed on the the handle.

His eyes remain open, even when sleeping, for he was trained to sleep this way. "This was going to be a long night..." was the last thought he had.
