But what i expect is 4 to 6 factions to start with to choose from...and then hopfully we can expect the Tau/Necrons and other Branches of the Emperium to show up to play sorry to you Tyrannids but i got a bad feeling that they wont be a playable Race
That information has been floating around for a while now, though I'm too lazy to dredge up a link right now. Neither Tyranids nor Necrons will be playable races, seeing how their mission paths would be mind-numbingly one-dimensional. Didn't read anything regarding the Tau.

Bring it on, then! The Ruinous Powers cannot be denied. Give in and heed the call of Chaos. >:D
Ah, I love that one. Thing is, that awesomeness applies to both sides of the spectrum... even the conceptionally silly Noise Marines of the Prissy Princess Legion (read: Emperor's Children) can claim awesomesauce status.
I hope they'll let me play Plague Marines... mmwaahahahahahaaa!

I'm interested. With the guard, it'd make sense for them to level up a damn sight quicker than the space marines to balance things out. Their sheer number makes them a more varied army and they don't have to fight for a century or 2 to get a promotion. I'm also hoping to see the eldar, though I'm not too fussed about the Tau. Those guys are dead meat in the long run any way.

It'll be interesting to see how they do it. They could make the PvP parts of the map like the ones you saw in the vid, with AI controller Titans and Gargants strolling about, and certain level players being alowed bikes and wartrukks from the base at your team's entry point.

That Great Unclean One was probably an end of raid boss, given that he was indoor and cornered to begin with, which is probably for the best. A player controlled Greater Daemon would be dangerous.

Well that's very awesome.

Question: If they want to stay even SOMEWHAT true to the lore, shouldn't they make the number of Imperial Guard players in a PVP area twice that of another faction such as Chaos Space Marines? And of course have the Imperial Guard players much weaker on their own? The feeling of being a tiny pawn in a massive battle would be awesome as the IG.

Perhaps something like:
10 Space marines = 10 Chaos Space Marines = 20 Imperial Guard = 20 Orks = 20 Tyrannid.

Just to stick with the fluff SOMEWHAT.

Okay I'm rambling, I'll stop.
The Guard could be done as Stormtroopers/Kasrkin to lessen the need for more of them in a match and would be a way of giving them more and better gear and special abilities

I always thought an MMO based on the imperial inquisition would be a great idea. Small ragtag group of very powerful characters with different abilities. And also the excuse to travel across the galaxy. Lets hope they do the source material justice!

I can't be excited about this. I want to be. But the past with WAR Online just recoils me from the original thinking. I'm not very excited for it, because the last company to undertake a Games Workshop MMo went under pretty badly. Remember Relic Entertainment? Look what happened to them when EA swooped through...

Fortunately, it seems Virgil Games won't have the same problem.

That being said, I'm gonna make a Black Templar with dual Chainswords that "count as" lightning claws. Why? Because that's how tabletop pulls together.

The game looks amazing, and I want it so hard, even though the Tau probably won't make it into the initial product :(

However I'm hoping that they don't make it pay-to-play, or if they do, that they give it a system like APB's.

..I'm confused, is this same developers that did Warhammer Online? If they are why would they make another Warhammer MMO? If not, I hope it´s a lot better then Warhammer Online since it wasn´t any difference from WoW
Just walk away, boy... [http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/4/10/]

Why do people hate Warhammer Online? I love that game, only reason I don't play is I'm out of money! Far better game than WoW, better pvp and the lore is a lot more fun.

As for this game, definitely going to keep an eye on it. I feel sorry that this will be competing with The Old Republic for my attention.

More like 5 times, at least. This is my problem with 40K games like this: either make it all Astartes, or keep them out and make it an Inquisition sort of thing (which would work better in this game anyway). The two don't mix well because there's such a power gap. Same goes for varous alien species.

My mind has melted!

I just hope they let you play as what SM chapter you want (I don't know about you, but I'm fed up of GW forcing Blood Ravens down my neck) as I would be Imperial Fists.

Prehaps as the guard, you could play as a Commissar with escort guardsmen or Stromtrooper squad (just putting it out there).

This might be the first MMO I pay for
