In my first playthrough I didn't fully realize what was required of me, and lost everyone except Jacob and Zaeed. (Ironically, Jacob was the one I really wanted to get rid of.

As fate would have it, however, I lost that save and when I later replayed the same kind of character I was better prepared - I lost only Jacob and Kasumi, both on purpose.

I blew the entire deal and got everyone killed. Yes, I am THAT good. I had to work pretty hard at it though.

jack was taken by bugs. my only awnser to that was: huh? tali dead aslo and i was pissed about that. with her i hat the romance and i loved the character. when she got shoted i was sad and pissed like hell at the collectors. the rest survived. and i rescued the crew. so i got one dead who was pissed at me because i pushed her to far. and one of tghe female character i genuinly cared about.
do i hate the game for it. nah, i more impressed with it that a game could make me sad by losing someone.

Miranda died on my first try, but then again she was a collosal *****. Second try I didn't use anyone who wasn't loyal and every one survived, after the reaper fight I had a sad moment because I saw Legion underneath a girder, I was like "D:" until I saw Garrus get him up and then I was ":D". Although I wish Miranda died because after that mission she called me stupid for blowing up the base.

Everyone survived on my team on my first play though even though Jack wasn't loyal to me. I want to make both choices at the end and save it in two different saves to see the outcome in ME3.

I got everyone to survive. It really wasn't that hard. Do loyalty missions, have enough paragon or renegade for the Miranda VS Jack and Tali VS Legion bits, get the ship upgrades, and pick proper people for the jobs in the last level.

Lost no-one on my first play through without using a guide. It all seemed pretty logical to me? Although I know I did luck out that the Miranda/Jack confrontation came late enough that I had enough paragon points to keep them both loyal.
That was kinda my experience too - though I didn't even realise that there as a danger of losing any crew, lol! Especially that an argument between those two could lead to one of them dying o.0 I guess I was lucky sending Mordin off as I believe that taking him with you too far just gets him killed no matter what, lol.

Was I the only one who found it amusing that Tali's ENVIRONMENTAL suit couldn't handle a little bit of heat in some vents? What the heck was the point of that suit?! I imagine it makes even less sense if you send Legion ;)

First time I lost four people: Miranda, Thane, Mordin, Legion.

Got pissed and redid the entire game. Then everyone survived. :D

I didn't lose a man, woman, alien or AI collective. I felt happy about that.
But I tried to think it through, using people who are good at specific things for certain tasks.

Knowing Mordin couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag, I sent him to the Normandy with survivors, Kept Tali and Jack with me for the Reaper fight (made it a lot harder, but they would have been dicked over in actual battle) and just made sure I did the loyalty missions.

I intend to play though ME1 + 2 again before I get the Arrival, I just want one solid playthrough. :D

Edit:
There's a guide to losing nobody?
I tell ya, don't do that, surely that would fucking ruin the tension? And the shit-yourself-sadness when/if you lose a crewmember?

I'm just happy my loveable folks in engineering, Seth Green and the delicious Kelly Chambers survive.

My first playthrough Tali and Grunt died. Ever since then I've learned how to keep everyone alive.

First time through everybody survived - pure luck!!

Second time Thane and Tali died, which made me sad. Thane died because Miranda flunked her bubble duties (damn her... I had just had the really sweet romance scene with him!) and Tali was apparently a bad attack team leader!

I loved the way that loyalty did not automatically ensure survival, but I wish there was some slightly less arbitrary rules on it; say if somebody in your squad 'goes down' and you don't revive them manually, they are actually dead?

I only lost my crew (the ones that got kidnapped) because I wanted to do EVERYTHING and didn't realize I was actually on a timer. Other than that, everyone lived.

I lost no-one on my first playthrough (including the crew). I prefer to take my time on my first playthrough of a game, so I'd done all of the loyalty missions and bought all of the ship upgrades. I'd also been Paragon all the way through, so I was easily able to defuse the Miranda/Jack and Tali/Legion arguments without losing anyone's loyalty there. Then, during the suicide mission, I just picked the people that seemed to make the most sense for that specific role. If I remember correctly, it was:

First Fireteam Leader: Garrus
Vents: Tali
Biotic Shield: Samara
Second Fireteam Leader: Garrus
Crew Escort: Jacob
Final Battle: Mordin and Tali

Was she not loyal? Because she and Legion are the ones you're SUPPOSED to put through the vents, anyone else has a high chance of death.
