who cares about story? Borderlands is everything I've ever wanted from a game (that could be put into ONE game) first person shooting, large (very very large) number of weapons, common rpg elements i.e. loot system, xp and leveling up, skill trees that mean leveling up actually achieves something, cool (not necessarily good) non laggy graphics and the presence of a story line. It's not good, but meh.

I hope they actually have dialogue this time. Don't make me read large volumes of really small text, actually add more voice acting, or if you aren't going to do that, at least put the text in a larger font.
Really? I had no problem with small subtitles in Borderlands... If anything, it may have been a bit too big... It wasn't hard for me to hear what they were saying without subtitles either, and my hearing is pretty bad.
I meant the quest descriptions and menus and stuff. The actual cutscenes were fine.

I greatly enjoyed Borderlands, but I had stopped playing it twice around the same point. It just got way to repetitive for me, and it felt like I wasn't getting anywhere. Borderlands is a huge place, but there was little to do aside from accepting a mission, going to the area you were supposed to go, killing whatever happened to be there, and then come back to turn in the mission, repeat ad nausea.

Still, Borderlands 2 would be very interesting.

The original Borderlands had a story?
Borderlands, in my opinion, has a phenomenal story. It like the Left 4 Dead mantra, it has an excellent story but you have to actively look for it, it doesn't just wave it in front of your face.

Such as, the Vault doesn't exist and never had, Hyperion made up the legend and was clearly using you to dismantle Atlas' presence on Pandora. Your character in the story isn't important at all in the real story, you're just a tool for these big corporations, though they all have actual reasons for being there. (Lilth is looking for more Sirens. Brick's looking for his lost Sister. Mordecai wants to kill this guy who may/may not be his brother, too bad Scar killed him first. Roland wants revenge on the McCloud character you fight from Atlas.) It was essentially a game about Hyperion fucking with you.

Personally, I played this and Bioshock aside each other and I found this to have a much cooler twist, but that might be due to the fact I figured Bioshock's out by the 3rd/4th chapter.
Wait... When were the mercs given reasons for being on Pandora? And the Vault did exist, if you played the game, the final level was the vault. You see the vault, you fight the Vault monster, but you never enter the vault, because there was a huge monster corpse in the way that wrecked the Vault entrance. You can get back in in another 200 years, though.

I had heard very shortly after the release of the original Borderlands that a sequel would be happening, and I'm excited for it.
In terms of what I want, the interface could use some help, specifically in the weapon management department and maybe allow an option to delete quests without having to complete them, having some added variety with the missions would be very nice, and I'd also like an actual plot, to clarify that last statement, Bioshock has a plot, Fallout has a plot, Resident Evil 4 has a plot, Borderlands has a goal, but lacks a real plot.
I hear you on the interface. I'm a kleptomaniac when it comes to loot in games, only pausing long enough to empty my pack when it's full at the nearest vendor. When you've got 48 backpack slots, trying to sort out which items you want to keep and which to sell can be maddening, particularly if the stats are very close to what you have equipped. Perhaps they could enable it so double-tapping the pick up button/key would designate it "vendor trash," either giving it an easily identifiable text color like black or putting it off to one side in your inventory screen.
Sorting options seems like a good idea, and maybe automatically displaying current weapon stats vs. the ones you find in chests and at vending machines without having to scroll all over to find your gun, only to usually find that the one you had was already better. The ideas are hear, maybe someone at Gearbox will read this thread and make these changes.

Yeah, Gearbox gave the characters all that (Further explained above.)

I guess the Vault exists if you want to take for face value cause nobody's ever lied to you in the game before right? The 'Vault' is just an alien portal that the Eridian made before Hyperion killed most of them, who says it's the vault? The rednecks on Pandora who just think it's a myth? The 'Guardian Angel' who is revealed to be a Hyperion satellite? Just ignore the fact you did everything Hyperion wanted and got rid of a majority Atlas' presence there. Y'know, their biggest rival and all, totally forget about that. It's totally the Vault with guns, money, and power or something else that would DRAW people to it.

Ok then, where is it stated that the Vault did not contain immense wealth and power? Hyperion used you to get to the Vault, because Atlas wanted it. Atlas found the Vault. Hyperion wanted the Vault. Hyperion used you to remove the Atlas presence on Pandora so they could swoop in, get the Vault and its treasure, and not have to worry about any further Atlas interference. And I have NO idea what the last sentence means. Are you being sarcastic? That was the whole point of the game, the fact that the legend of the Vault DREW people to it (namely the people of Atlas and Hyperion). I really do not get what you're going for.

Also, when did the Hyperion Corporation kill the Eridian?

I'd love it, hope they will add more than one New Game + per character though, wouldn't mind playing through the game's missions again with enemies at max level.

If it's real, it needs to KEEP THEM GRAPHICS! Don't even fuck with them a little.

It needs to tell the story better, with cutscenes and well fleshed out backstory. The squad always needs to be there. It's a lonely game if you're playing solo. And keep the same characters. Just add more to them.
I agree with the Graphics. I love Cell Shading in games and Borderlands did it some justice.
I would like a better story as well, but most of all it better have Scooter in it. He said the most hilarious things in the game and the best thing in the Secret Armory DLC.

Oooh, I hope they keep co-op. I play Borderlands for the co-op, there's so few of them out there!

I'm excited!

No, you'll have much more luck on the actual forums where GBX Employees visit daily and post... Like a much better chance. I doubt they read through random threads on random forums for suggestions on the next game.

I honestly don't think we should be discussing what's going to be in BL2 if there isn't even solid confirmation date. It's good to stay optimistic, but I'm just not an optimistic person, especially in this case when Gearbox is in development for 2 other games.

everyone I've talked to has agreed that we'd like to see some sort of workbench where you can customize/ upgrade your guns, i.e. purchasing at a vendor, finding as loot, or breaking down other guns getting you some of the individual components that the random generation mechanic uses to create the guns.

Not even. You're making it more complicated than it is. Legend of the Vault is true, that's why Hyperion used the Vault Hunters. It is literally as simple as that.

(From the Borderlands Wiki)- In the Borderlands official guide, it is revealed that the Eridians sacrificed their entire civilization to imprison the Destroyer inside the Vault. The Guardians were created to protect the Vault and prevent anyone from opening it. If it was ever freed, the Destroyer would have eventually consumed the universe. After the Vault hunters destroy the Destroyer, the Vault reseals itself and cannot be opened again for two hundred years. The Guardian Angel reveals that in its home realm the Destroyer is indestructible, however it requires a host body to survive in this one and is vulnerable.

The Guardian Angel explains that she had known what the Vault contained and had guided the Vault hunters from the outset to protect the universe from the Destroyer. She expresses regret for the deception, but insists that it was the only way to ensure that the Vault hunters would be well positioned to defeat the Destroyer. As the story comes to a close the Guardian Angel is revealed to be a projected apparition from a Hyperion satellite in orbit around Pandora.

So basically the Vault was real, it just wasn't full of money and power. Just a really big universe-eating monster.
