Was Twilight Princess really that bad?

Not bad at all. Too long, in my opinion - though that may just be because I'm one of those people who must find every last hidden bit and bob.

No, it was just the worst in the series, that does not mean it was a bad game, simply not as good as the others.

There were aspects I liked, some I didn't. Those magnetic floor sections were irritating, but hey, I can swing a sword underwater now.

Really it's just an expanded Ocarina of Time. More combat techniques put into the game rather than figured out by people who are just -reeally- good at it. I liked the bosses more and some of the locations had amazing atmosphere. Nothing quite like the Shadow Temple, mind you, but it did feel like a dungeon.

The dog sections were... Eh. But no worse than the being a deku shrub in Majora's Mask. I dislike the shapeshifting. Lemme play link and lemme use my sword.

The dungeons weren't particularly hard though, and people seem to regularly mistake "hard" for "fun" and "bad interface" for "difficulty". That might be why people don't like it.

I finished it twice, maybe 18 months - 2 years apart, at about 40 hours each. It didn't wow me like OoT did at the time of its release, but it was mostly enjoyable. It didn't deserve the 9.5+ ratings it seemed to receive everywhere, but it was good.

Shame I've never had a chance to play more than a couple of hours of Wind Waker. That annoys me sometimes.

I don't know how you thought this game was bad at all. The story kept me invested deeply more so than any other game in the past 3 years (close to PokemonWhite). I bought a 3DS back at launch and have now purchased Ocarina of Time 3D and am well through the game now. Maybe others saw something in the game I missed because TwilightPrin to me is perfect and had me bawling at the end. :D

If that is someone's idea of a bad game, I can't imagine what they'd think of a truly bad game.

Midna totally made up for Navi.

I enjoyed infact I'm playing it again to get 100%, I don't like Midna that much to be fair I thought she was a bit annoying though not as annoying as Navi, nowhere near. I prefered Ocarina Of Time evern though I played it properly after playing Twilight Princess (I did play it before round a friends house though not much). The Wolf parts I thought were annoying when you had to get the bugs and I think thats made my friends bored of the game.

I found it to be "I'd rather cut my dick off" boring. But others spooged all over it, so I don't know what you're getting at particularly.

Sure, it was easy, but a lot of games are easy! Sure it was for the wii, but it was a sword game! The wii is made for those! Sure, it had bad graphics, but it was still a beautiful game! Graphics mean nothing. And it had a kick ass soundtrack. And it had Midna. You know, the best zelda character EVER.

All I'm asking is, why do you think it's bad?

EDIT: Before there's confusion, I've been across the internet and found a lot of hate for it.
Remember, that the internet is full of morons. Twilight Princess was fantastic and, while you're allowed to like other games more if you really have to, anyone who says it's crap is both wrong and stupid. I think it was the best Zelda game to date (yes, better than Ocarina thanks to much better writing and art design) and hold it in the highest regard.

You don't have to make stuff up now.

It's plain common knowledge that it's one of the most beloved zelda games of all time.

I think what the author is referring to is the hype backlash that occurred when it came out. A lot of people saw it as a return to form after the "immature" (I disagree) Wind Waker and that coupled with the long development time resulted in huge expectations that no game could realistically match.

It seems like everyone has calmed down now and can appreciate the game for what it is.

There's hate for everything- Twilight Princess was an excellent game. I personally would take it over OOT any day- and, though I think Majora's Mask is the better of the three, I can readily admit that this opinion is quite possibly the fault of nostalgia.

Eh, I dunno. Zelda fanbase is really weird about what games they like/don't like. I thought Ocarina held that title anyway?

Edit: Personally, I have a theory that the first Zelda game people play, is usually their favorite.

The graphics were par, the gameplay to easy to compensate for motion controls, the puzzles were to easy, the boss battles were fairly easy, and most of that could have been overlooked, but the story was mediocre at best and conflicted with past Zelda games.

Plot is boring. Combat is shit. Save system is awful. The way they do the dialogue drives me insane. The characters are either annoying or completely uninteresting. Its often highly unclear about where you've got to go or what you've got to do (I don't need handholding, they just don't know how to direct a player properly).

And the intro is far too fucking long.

I really hated every second I played it.

Out of curiosity, have you played any other games in the series?
