"Pleasant? Ehhh... Not quite." Erica said as she pointed towards the Magitek armour invested skies above the city of Brasilia. "I wouldn't call that pleasant, exactly. Although it sure beats the corpse-littered city we were in before!" She added with a chuckle.
"Definitely not. From what I've heard, they're made by someone named Kefka." Erica replies. "I don't know much about them besides that. No way I'd fight them, afterall!" She added. "But enough about that. How've you been? I haven't seen you in a while!"
"Ah, yes. I am sorry for my absence." AEanna replied, looking troubled. "I had urgent business to attend to in Skyrim. There is grim news spreading across the land, and I felt I had to return and see what I could do to assist the land that has become my home."
James appeared at the ship's door, lighting a cigarette. He closed his eyes as he inhaled deeply. When he opened them again, he caught sight of the lake and his jaw dropped, the cigarette falling from his lips.
AEanna looked Erica directly in the eye before responding.
"Vampires. They have changed their behaviour significantly of late. Where once they kept to their lairs far from civilisation and waylaid travellers to feed on, now they are mounting raids on small settlements. The casualties are small but tragic, but the fact that it is happening at all suggests that something more ominous is afoot."
OOC: Actually, now that Regulus mentioned it, who has died/left the group in the last two threads?
Erica's eyes widened when she heard the news. "That's bad news indeed." She said as she straightened her back and rubbed her chin. "Do you think they're getting desperate for food? Or is someone or something maybe leading them?"
OoC @Berk: Well, for one Gerrard. He just walked off one day and never returned. No one cared.
Then there's Gregory in this thread. He was torn to shreds. After the initial shock, no one cared.
And with a little truth-bending, the list could go on quite a bit.
AEanna sat crosslegged in the coarse gravel of the lake bank, her long robe pooled around her and her elbows on her knees. Her hands over the lower part of her face and a distant, thoughtful look in her eyes, she continued.
"I do not know. The attacks have of course drawn attention to them, but they should not have had difficulty in finding blood before that. I think that either a leader has stoked their fury and filled their heads with ideas of dominance over mortals, or they are preparing for some great event that will result in the same outcome. Either way, I intend to find out."
OOC: Geralt? Right. I don't remember a Gregory, except in Preginald's robot army. The names I thought of offhand were Dromaeus, Laguna, Eddie, Jin and Jio, original Asha, the Deltas, and Joel and Matt, sort of.
OoC @Outis:But they're well remembered, so that doesn't count.
Roland and Doc Com, on the other hand. They disappeared. No one cared.
@Berk: Gregory Heart was Ven's character in this thread before he brought Varger back.
Erica sat down opposite of AEanna. "Have you found any clues in your time away?"
"Very little yet. However, an organisation named the Dawnguard have taken it upon themselves to deal with the threat, and they appear competent. I have asked some of our mages to assist, and I will be returning to apply my own, 'expertise' to the situation. I do not know how much I can help, and I will need to be careful, but perhaps I can at least provide some insight into the abilities and habits of the undead."
"Well... I'd love to help. But I'm not exactly a expert on the subject.
All I can really say is good luck." Erica said as she softly scratched the side of her nose. "But what kind of silly name is 'Dawnguard'? That doesn't make any sense.
Vampires go out at night, no? So wouldn't 'Duskguard' be a more fitting name?" She added, trying to lighten the mood.
