In a game full of memorable deaths, this is one of the ones people most remember. Though, I think the death of Odessa is pretty damn dark as she asks Tir (official name of the hero) to throw her body in the water behind them to hide her death.
Anyway, in this scene, Gremio sacrifices himself to save his master, Tir. It's just a hell of a scene.

Here's the death of Nanami. This one kind of sucks because the guy uploading it didn't try to save her, not that you would even see anything till the end of the game, but at least in that case, Riou pulls out his tonfa alongside Nanami. (There was one that did, but the music was all screwy in the fight and they were using the most obnoxious sound effects)
This video also showcases a bunch of spells, including all of the Black Sword Rune spells. If you don't want to see them, skip to about 6:30 to continue the scene.
Anyway, it's full of big moments. Riou and Jowy preparing to fight. Gorudo being an ass, which seems to come naturally to him. Nanami being brave to protect her brother and friend, despite her reservations about fighting in war. And her subsequent death... Powerful stuff.

OOC: @Saltyk. Why are you always assuming the opposite when I say something? I never said that a low graphics game couldn't be deep or well written. The catch with older games is that there's plenty of things going on in the imagination. For instance, some people liked the older Final Fantasies where they preferred them being all blocky and pixelated, because it allowed the person to fill in the gaps and emotions with their imaginations. And combined that with some good to excellent writing and you have a pretty awesome storyline. It's just that sometimes older games don't have a well written or thought-provoking script, and it's hard to take something seriously if the game's graphics are too rough and you can't make out what you're seeing or if it looks goofy. It becomes indescribable and we can't relate to it. Too little graphics and it becomes chuncky.
