It reminds me a bit of corpse party. Though in the game it only shows a few of the deaths in detail or rather quickly. Otherwise they are left to the imagination with sound effects.Slenn said:
One of the deaths occurs after voluntarily choosing to read some memoirs left around the alternate dimension school that the characters are stuck in. The memoirs themselves describe how a female student who was trapped there ended up making a deal with her that the loser of a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors would eat the other to survive. They reveal that the student who lost kept one of her friends eyes as a companion but regularly played with it. Eventually, she ate it and returned to the corpse of her friend and dessecrated it further. I can't remember what the last memoir said but after reading it the screen goes dark and the character you were controlling wakes up to find the dead body of their companion lying next to them with a bloody axe next to it. He then notices a letter left by the recently deceased which tells how she had been trying to flee from the character you are playing as after he seemingly went mad. He proceeds to yell in anger before he himself starts to tear apart her body but thankfully the screen is blacked out by then. Damn, writing this reminds me of the Two Kinds comic and the bloody mary chapter. Horrible.
OOC: @Silver. You're only seeing the outer skin of the anime. Of course those are the murderers. However the anime is composed of several different arcs in which the murderer is always different. Sometimes it's the ginger with the hatchet, sometimes it's the sadistic crucifier, etc. And the bigger, more important, mystery is behind the murders proceeding the ones that you see in the anime. It all has to do with this mysterious curse in the village that they're all trying to figure out who is really behind it.
