AEanna raised a ward and deflected the glass shards from herself and anyone directly beside her. James tried to twist away from the neutron beam, but while it missed him, it passed close enough to ignite his shemagh and combat goggles which he had wrapped around his face to keep the smoke off. He stumbled and fell to the ground, dropping his P90 and roaring in pain as he tried to tear off the fabric that burned and stuck to his flesh.
OOC: @Slenn I'm guessing that it has a certain area of reduced effect, an aureole around the main beam where the heat and radiation are much less intense than at the core? If its either a black and white case of getting hit and dying or evading it and living though, correct me.

Chanda burst out from a building near Erica. "Hello there little useless one, why don't I burn off all that dead weight!" She cackled as she punched at Erica's midsection, her hand wreathed in white flames.
The bits of rubble around the group were still on fire, and produced clouds of smoke, hampering everyone's ability to see.

AEanna whirled in the general direction of Chanda's voice and unleashed a howling blizzard to sweep away the smoke and freeze the unnatural creature in her tracks. James was rolling around on the ground, but hearing her voice he drew his pistol and aimed at her, his breath coming in ragged gasps. His shemagh and goggles had melted and fused to the left side of his face, but it was a testament to his endurance, perception and marksmanship that he was able to pinpoint her position by sound alone. He began firing the pistol one handed, each round aiming for her chest.

There was no way Erica could dodge Chanda's attack in time and took the full brunt of the hit.
She fell down as Chanda's hit badly scorched her flesh, made worse as her clothes ignited.
Adrenaline numbed the pain to some extend and kept her from panicking too much. She managed to unsheathe the Mehrune's Razor and make a jab at Chanda's gut.
