Asha continued to hug Gerry and laugh happily.

"Oh please, I'm hardly unique. There's a whole nation of people with ears and tails just like me. At least, I think there still is." Shannon said to Sniper.

OoC @Outis: Villains are a necessity. They propell they story.
Were it not for the villains, it'd be small tlk day in day out. Boring!

I am not trying to get rid of villains entirely, I am just saying that I do not think they need to be any more threatening to drive the story. In fact, constantly having characters die would probably slow any plot going on down considerably. If one person's character dies in some way, they have to come up with a new character, get them to meet the group in some way, then get them involved with the group/plot in some way. Now consider if multiple characters die in rapid succession. We may very well end up with a cast of characters who have no connection with each other and no reason to form a group or have anything to do with each other or whatever plot is going on.

This is probably not likely, but it could happen.

I remember several instances when people would say they like villains, and they sometimes came across as the buddy-buddy type of like, but point taken. I was just saying a personal opinion. I am generally okay with a bad guy getting the upper hand, because yes, that creates tension and drama and makes them a threat, but making death such a simple and frequent thing just feels like going too extreme. And killing a character should not be a "little success" either. Like I said, I am happy with the way things are handled now.

OoC @Outis: I also wouldn't like it if the villains suddenly started massacring the heroes. Because, as you've said, that too would kill the story.
Still, a villain needs to sucseed from time to time.
Take Scarlet for instance. No one took her seriously before she cursed Asha and killed Xu.
@Salty: I loved Athena though, even in a buddy type way. xP

Just more evidence that the current system works just fine. If Scarlet had appeared out of no where and shot Erica with a poison dart and killed her what would you have said?

OoC: @Nail 'Loved'? She's still around. I'm trying to think of a good way to bring her back in without seeming like an asspull, once more. I didn't expect the group to move after that argument and I seriously couldn't see it ending any other way as Grace was being pretty pigheaded. So was Athena, but she has her reasons.
To be fair, I still don't take Scarlet seriously. Her introduction left a bad taste in my mouth.

Like I said, do I think villains should just pop up and kill a protagonist? No. Do I think they need to be able to succeed in lesser team-demoralising goals? Absolutely.

"It's alright. Kinda flattering to have someone want to protect me as much as you do, really. And yeah, it is nice to have the occasional moments of peace." Rose said. After a short pause of looking at the ground, she looked back up at Riou and said, "If it'll make you feel any better, I'll try to find something else out."

"Well, I mean it." Riou says, with a smile, before he looks up. "It's the moments of peace that I fight for. These are what makes everything else worthwhile." He then looks back down, looking at Rose. "Find something out? Are you talking about fighting?"

"Yeah, I am. I came up with the idea for 'making myself determined' because way back then I was way too panicky and scared to actually fight if I didn't do it. There's still some things I need to figure out, but I might not even need it anymore." Rose said to Riou.

"I see... That would be useful, but toning it down so that you don't become reckless would be preferable." Riou said. "Would you need a hand with that?"

"I don't think 'toning it down' is really an option, but I'll try. And yes, I would love to have a hand with it." Rose said, a smile growing on her face as she looked at Riou. She let out a yawn and added, "Tomorrow, or whenever is good."

"Okay. Tomorrow. It's getting late, we should really turn in. Good night, Rose." Riou smiled back and then he turned to go find a place to sleep.

"G'night Riou!" Rose said as cheerily as she could manage and waved to Riou as he left. She went back to her room and fell asleep.

Four had just spent the past few hours fixing the latest hole in her ship. "I swear to God that if someone gets a hat-trick I am gonna snap and wring someone's neck." She said to herself, wiping sweat from her brow. She went to clean off, then found one too many people sleeping in her bed. Screw it, I'm too tired to kick his ass out. She thought as she relented and pushed Matthew over to one side, then laid down in between Winter and Gwen and fell asleep.

OOC: Nope, I'm going to bed too.
