They would notice that it was, in eccence, a hologram with a physical presence, along with looking very similar to a SSD.

"Hmmm... intriguing." EMily said, "It's like a hybrid between a physical item and a hologram. The object is really there, but I feel that something is projecting it onto your hand like a hologram. If one could turn off the hologram, the physical object would disappear."

<color=purple>"It sounds similar to some storage units we have in our time. They stored the data as energy and projected the energy as a physical object, as if it was projected as a hologram."

Engineer smiled, "Don't suppose you girls know how to read the things?" he said.
Medic looked at the robot, "Do you vant to be able to get Ubercharged?" he asked.

"You mean the drive that appears there? Well, I suppose Photon could take a crack at it, but I need to figure out how it can send its data." She looked around the cube to see if there was anything like a port for a cable, or even a wireless transmitter.

"Maybe it operates with quantum mechanics." She materialized Photon. "Now that I think about it, the technology behind the cube seems like materialization technology behind Photon. Let's see if it can peer inside the structure." She pointed the end of the barrel of Photon at the cube. "Don't worry, it's not a gun, it's more of a tool. I'm having Photon look for anything quantum mechanical. Essentially saying if the cube stores data in tiny structures like nanotechnology, molecules, or even atoms, it will try and look for signs that point to it."

Medic nodded, "Robots are not my specialty, but SOMEVUN should get zhis, if only to serve as a meat sheild." he said.[hr]
Engineer nodded.
The photon would get an indication.

"It's finding something." She said. "Fascinating! It's indicating that it's using photons of light as a storage medium. It's picking up data packets inside the cube composed of only a few photons. Photons are the tiniest pieces of light you can have. Let's see if there's anywhere within the memory we can retrieve the data."

Enginer smiled, "Now, any way for me to read that there data?" he asked.[hr]
Medic shrugged, "Vhell, it also vorks for robots." he says.

"The cube operates by storing its data as photons. You'll need to engineer a quantum mechanical computer to be able to process the enormous amounts of data that's stored inside it. It looks like you were the one who created the teleporters that I've seen lying around, so perhaps I could help you make one based off my own computer/tool, Photon. Mine only works in my own hands. If someone else tries to pick it up, the computer vanishes. So we'll need to develop a computer of our own that everyone can use."

Medic groaned, "Ugh, fine. But you're a robot! Engineer can fix you oop!"[hr]
Engineer nodded, "Sounds pretty damn difficult. Give me fifteen minutes." he said, plopping down a dispenser.

She deactivated Photon but still kept in her hands.

In preparation, the uppermost cylinder slid open revealing the millions of thin layers used for holding the electrons that store their data.

The barrels seemed to unsheathe themselves from the metal that encased them, revealing various electronic components that looked much different than those in the 21st century.

Engineer stared at it in awe, grabbing her hand, and examining the device.
"Wow..." he said.

"Just be glad we're not using Gwen's computer, Graviton. It's one of the most unorthodoxly made computers I've ever seen. But what's exposed are the two primary components of any quantum mechanical computer: the data storage and the CPU. As for power, it comes from me. The data storage uses several layers holding the electrons that store the data. Everything else uses fiber optic cables to transmit to the CPU." She pointed to the various objects. "By the way, where did you find that cube?"
