[color=003399]"I meant the fact that Vicky wasn't in there. She's been missing for almost as long as you were."[/color] Joel replied.

The sisters, once again held the door open for the others to let out.

<color=purple>"I think I did see a clothing store nearby here. Downtown areas usually have one. I think it was in... that direction." She pointed towards a somewhat popular looking clothing marketplace down the street.

Roland tried to help Vicky to her feet, but he would be unable to pick her up on his own and she would need to support some of her own weight to get to her feet.

"Well this works much better~" Sophia seemed a bit excited, walking out with the umbrella and raincoat she wasn't getting wet. With the raincoat on however, it did cover up her ears, and make her tail a bit harder to spot, making her look more like a regular person with a skin condition than a beastkin from the front.

"Let's go check then." She nodded as she turned to look at the others still in the store, seeming to be in much higher spirits now.

Hans, demonstrating a surprising amount of tenacity, managed to pull himself on the Valkyrie, and pulled the welder off his back. With rain dripping off his helmet, he went to work on cutting open one of the engine pods.

After Sophia left the store, Yeul opened her new umbrella, and stepped outside as well, finding she could afford to do so, as there wasn't too much wind to damage the umbrella. Caius did the same after her. Holding the umbrella with one hand, Yeul put up the hood of the raincoat.

"In the interest of efficiency, should we split up?" Caius sugested, glancing around the group, looking to Sophia last. "You head for the thing you wished, and Yeul and I would head for the clothing store with whoever is willing to cover the expenses."

"Ya, sure that could work too." Sophia nodded to Caius suggestion, realizing they would split up and that would then leave the Mason sisters to decide who would go where. In the interest of time, and also because I believe Winona might not have money on her, but Gwen and EMily do, we'll say that they split up with EMily going with Sophia, and Gwen, and Winona going with Yeul and Caius.

Realizing she would need to put in more effort on her part, Vicky used her mechanical limbs to help her stand up. Once standing, she seemed weak and disoriented, a feeling of lightheadedness coming over her. The only reason she didn't immediately collapse again was because she was able to lock up her legs to prevent it.

"Alright so we're looking for a hardware store or a crafts shop for lacquer, I don't need a lot, so a small can will due me for a long while. Once we get that we can head back and get out of the rain." Sophia instructed the Mason sister that ended up following her. Her group was now walking along the sidewalks various shops passing them by as well as the few pedestrians that were still out in the rain. "That sound like a plan?" She asked, continuing to look into the stores as she walked by them, passing by a cake shop as they went by, an 'hiring baker' sign at the front window.

"Sure thing, Sophia. I can also do a radar check on the local weather to see how long the rain will last." She walked along with Sophia. "Well, if someone needs a job, we'll keep that pastry shop in mind."

OOC: @Zeph. You had a case of run-on sentences there.

Vicky groaned and rubbed her temples with her right hand.
Code:
"Not by myself, I don't think."
She answered, her pride completely eroded away by sickness and fatigue.

"Alright, that could work too." Sophia agreed, not completely sure if EMily meant she would listen to the radio like she'd done before or use her powers in some other way to figure it out. When EMily mentioned the pastry job, Sophia looked over at the shop and paused for a moment as she squinted to see the 'Hiring' sign in the rain. "Oh right, ya. Someone could be good at that I guess." She nodded, looking back to EMily as they continued on.

Walking a long a short time more, Sophia turned her head to look at EMily. "I've been meaning to ask you actually, after I talked with Winona, I was wondering if you could teach me how lightning normally works?"

"Well, to start with an example: Perhaps as a kid you rubbed your socks on the floor to create a spark on somebody. What happens is that when you rub those socks on the ground, you build up electric charge from the electrons around atoms. You might remember what they are from Winona's explanation. Electrons have negative electrical charge. And when a build up of them gets near an object they induce positive charge, which they like to jump to. That creates a spark. Lightning works the same way, it's just one giant spark. Only instead of socks rubbing against the ground, the water vapor in clouds rubs against each other to build up electric charge. This induces a positive charge on the ground, which they leap to in the form of lightning."

Roland nodded in response to Vicky, moving to her side and offering his shoulder to lean on to help her walk back to the ship.

"Alright, that makes sense..." Sophia nodded, understanding the sock example well enough, and understanding how lightning was just one really big sock rubbing against itself in the sky.

"But it must have started somewhere right? Like you can't just have a bunch of socks rubbing together to power everything, right?" Sophia asked. "Like... I understand that you make a power station thing, and it makes the energy there, but... it's got to start with some person realizing they can do a better job than just holding two socks together, right?" She asked, trying to borrow from the limited knowledge she had on the subject.

(Supper is pretty soon.)

Vicky graciously accepted Roland's help, laying her left arm over his shoulder and giving him a

as she leaned on him to distribute her weight to where could walk. With his help, she'd make her way back to where the space-crafts were parked. She would remain silent the entire way unless Roland attempted to speak up about anything.

Roland didn't speak for most of the walk back to the ships, but he spoke up as they neared the door to Dace's ship. "We are Ka-tet, Victoria. Remember that."

"So the way electric power is generated is through magnets. Take a loop of wire and connect it end to end. When you pass a bar magnet through it, the electrons in the wire feel a change in the present magnetic field, since you're bringing the magnet closer. As that happens, it creates an electric field both inside and outside the loop, which pushes the electrons in the loop. This electric field works in the same way if you had a group of people outside of a merry-go-round, and they all push against the rails of the merry-go-round to make it spin. So an electric generator works by moving magnets around a group of wires. And the magnets get their movement from the power of wind in wind turbines or water in a hydroelectric dam. There's lots of ways to get them moving. And the first person to realize this was Michael Faraday roughly 150 years ago relative to when in time we are now."
