"That... actually sounds a lot like how magic in my home world eventually appears." Sophia replied, pausing before adding. "Except for the fire bit, that... would be really really bad. The worst I've heard that getting is things getting warmer than they should. Which given the alternative is much better." Sophia let out a nervous laugh.

"So then if you do have this psion stuff, then what?"

Code:
"Lucky for you guys then."
Vicky chuckled along with Sophia.

Code:
"Well, the state determined that people with these sorts of powers, but lacking the knowledge to control and use them responsibly, would eventually prove to be a danger to themselves and those around them. So a while back they formed the Psionic Academy. Anyone discovered to have psionics is mandated to attend and graduate from the academy. There's a bunch of psions that work there and act as teachers, so that kittens can learn to control their powers in a safe environment."

"Kittens?" Sophia repeated, picturing baby cats before she connected the dots and realized Victoria might just be talking about young cat beastkin. "Alright, that's really sophisticated of them. But you still get to see your family while going to that academy right? We never really had things like that back home."

Code:
"Yeah, you know, young, still growing people. Kittens."
Victoria attempted to explain to Sophia.
Code:
"And yeah, of course families of those at the academy can visit. The point of the academy is to ensure psions can mature into healthy members of society like anyone else, so they take as many steps as possible to ensure that anyone there doesn't feel ostracized."
Code:
"I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you guys probably have problems with magic then, right?"

"Huh... I could've sworn you said something along the lines of that. I thought it may have had to do with someone who was already dead or someone we had fought. Well, I suppose I could talk to her. But I don't know if she'll calm down any. I mean she seemed to have enough anger to point a gun at me when you climbed in."

"Well. I'll see what I can do okay? Just sit tight." EMily proceeded back into the ship and up to Shara at the front.

"Excuse me Shara. I'd like to talk about our uhhh... vampiric colleague."

You say, not turning to face EMily as you are working on a control panel, that you have been thinking about what to do about her. You add that you are not ready to forgive her, and probably will never.

"Sorry about that, I'm just used to using the word 'kitten' to describe baby cats. Different places different customs. But anyways, I guess I just got confused with how you used the word mandated, sounded like they were forced to do it, right?" Sophia explained herself.

"As for my home world, magic is uncommon for the most part. Unless you have the money or standing to get it, most people who have it can only do rather mundane things. It takes a teacher of some kind to really advance anywhere. The main problem is when the magic first awakens, at which point it can be a bit more dangerous. It normally follows along with puberty for the most part, but it can vary. After that however it normally settles down from what I've heard."

"Could you explain to me how you found out about this? What was it about this vampirism that you didn't like?"

You turn and look at EMily with disbelief. You tell her that you confronted her about it after she had murdered the Desperado prisoner, asking sarcastically if murder is not a good reason to be hostile to someone.

Code:
"Yeah, little cats. That's the right word."
Vicky didn't seem to understand where exactly Sophia was coming from.
Code:
"I suppose it would be right to say psions are forced into it, but it's honestly for the good everyone. And it's not like we get mistreated in there or anything."
She reasoned.

Code:
"Sounds too different for me to really weigh in."

"Ahhhh... to you she had killed someone who had already surrendered. I can see why that would irk someone the wrong way, in addition to the murder. Up until this point I didn't know this man was a prisoner." She 'hhhmmmm'ed for a bit before continuing. "Well, when Seras explained it to me, she needed a body to get more strength. Although I haven't really seen any show of strength from her in a long time, so I can't say the decision is justified just yet. But I know that I've been around with her long enough to know that she's multidimensional."

"That's good then, I'd hate to think you were. Although it's still pretty cool that you get to go learn about that at such a young age without having to pay a fortune for it." Sophia looked over to the ships for a moment before looking back over to Victoria. "Like I had said before, my home world isn't the most advanced as it is here, let alone in EMily's time." She answered back, scratching her cheek lightly with her fingertip.

[color=edc393]"Well. That was a lot of fun."[/color] Sam said with no small amount of sarcasm in his voice, looking to the quarted of guards walking away now that the state of emergency had been lifted, then looked to Elm once it hovered out of the operating theatre. [color=edc393]"Hey. In the future? Don't ask me to kill a downed enemy."[/color] He said, turning to Elm and accusatively pointing his finger at it while he talked.

"I gave you that order, anticipating the threat of her friend dying would be enough to keep the other one in line." Elm stated as it hovered towards it, stopping near Sam. "Weren't my calculations correct?"

[color=edc393]"Almost weren't. I came this close to killing the hurt PoW, while the other one wasn't even being host--"[/color] Sam began to answer, but was interupted by Elm.

"But you didn't, which can only mean the threat to the original captive was enough to keep the peace." Elm pointed out, then, after a brief pause, added, "But let's supppose it wouldn't have been, the deceased could simply have been reporposed. No loss, other then probably colateral damage."

Sam looked away from Elm with a [color=edc393]"Tsk..."[/color] He was quiet for a moment, then glanced back, saying, [color=edc393]"Still. Striking at a defenceless person's low, and I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't ask me to do it, again."[/color]

"Duly noted."

You say that you don't give a damn why she did it, and trying to defend her will not help at all. You continue by telling EMily that while you will not fight Seras, because you know others would intervene and stop you. However, you will not help her either, and you are considering reporting the murder to XCOM.

"Shara? What do you see when you look at me? What do you know about me? Tell me everything that you know." She said, putting her hands over each other on top of her skirt, as if she was standing at attention.

You say, slightly confused by the question, that she is a scientist from the future with an idealistic world view, big on forgiving and seeing the best in people. Was a maid earlier, and obviously has insane powers. You ask why that matters, unless she is going to go on a big speech about the virtues of forgiveness.

"Yes, those powers did get insane. Because I and my sisters thought we could harness more power through a different technique. It was brash and it was wrong. And now our powers will be on the level and what they should be. Our powers will no longer be insane, but sane. We will learn from our mistakes just like every other human (and humanoid). We ended up going out cold after the fight with the knights because of it. And I've had to kill two knights in self defense to protect Sophia. Now I know isn't the same circumstances as what Seras did. And I know you probably don't want to forgive Seras. But you must consider there's more to a person than from what they kill. Consider the knights. They are after us because we are assisting Sophia, whom they consider a murderer. And they don't know the full story behind Sophia. Heck, WE don't know the full story. But if they just looked at me killing their friends, all they'd think of me is just a cold-blooded murderer. When in fact, I'm a scientist who is trying to protect my friend in the midst of also figuring out that past before it's too late. What would you say about my killings if you didn't know all that about me? Would I still be your friend?"
