We Are Our Avatars IX: Act V: The Sabotage of the Scandolous Saurian Scoundrels (Open)

Seras stood very straight while listening to Sara, seeming comfortable in this sort of position. She seemed to have no trouble swinging her sword around, seeming like the weight wasn't an issue. She subtly wondered if her speed and strength would actually make dueling dangerous.

 

[Slenn]

Sara nodded in approval of her students. She then noted the proper position to be in when drawing the sword.
<color=brown>"We will now move onto the first basic cut, which is the vertical cut. Remember to practice advancing your feet when you slash. Watch me and follow my motions." She took a few steps back and demonstrated her cut a few times, stepping back each time she was done slashing the air.

She stopped and nodded.
<color=brown>"Now you guys try. Start from the first posture."

Joel also had little trouble swinging the sword, having been using it for a while, and having the benefit of a mechanical arm.

[color=006d5b]"I think I could do with a drink, too. And I should probably change out of my cozzie."[/color] Matilda said, following Sophia inside.

Seras carefully performed a few swings, wanting to be careful and precise.

 

[Slenn]

After watching 10 or so swings from each of them she clapped to let them know it was time for the next stage.
<color=brown>"Next, let's combine it with the next swing. That is the upward diagonal slash. Do five diagonal slashes with the blade going upward. And then once everyone's comfortable, we will then combine it in sequence with the downward vertical slash."

She then demonstrated the technique, much like before.
<color=brown>"Remember to advance your feet each time you slash."

Seras did as instructed, still making sure to be controlled and exact with her moves.

"Ya I'll be changing too, I think I've had enough of this swimsuit for one day." Sophia said as she plucked the one strap of her top with her fingernail. "Hopefully Winona's sunscreen worked like she said it would, I can only imagine how burnt I'd be otherwise."

 

[Slenn]

<color=brown>"How are we all feeling so far? Let me know if it's straining anyone."

Joel also followed Sara's instructions, as demonstrated. [color=003399]"This is fine for me."[/color] he replied.

[color=006d5b]"You should be fine. Where are the showers in this place?"[/color] Matilda asked.

"I'm okay." Seras said with a nod.

 

[Zepherus14]

"Here's hoping at least, and it's in the bathroom area, but sure I'll show you where it is, just follow me." Sophia answered back, finding it a little odd that Matilda hadn't seen where the bathrooms were in the time she'd been around. Regardless she gave Matilda the benefit of the doubt and led her towards the area. "Ya it should be right passed here." She said as she walked into the room and started moving the door to the space shower of space.

Sara would keep procedurally adding slashes to their sequence. First the slash by itself a number of times and then performing it in sequence like Simon Says. Eventually they would be up to eight slashes in combination. She noted that, of course, there are many other combinations of slashes that you can perform. However the best way to perform a series of slashes is to provide a natural flow for your arms while still providing difficulty for the opponent, as demonstrated by their eight slash. That way you're not straining yourself by erratically or nervously slashing.

<color=brown>"Keep swinging for at least five more minutes, and we'll move onto blocking. Be sure to pace yourself. This is not about making the most swings in the next few minutes. It's about practice and patience. A katana is a blade that is used for speed under precision. Like becoming a good fighter or a scholar, it's all about taking your time to understand."

As Matilda followed Sophia, she kept one hand on the walls to get an idea of where the bathroom was relative to the rest of the ship. [color=006d5b]"Thanks. Do you want to shower first?"[/color] Matilda asked when they reached the shower.

 

[Zepherus14]

"Oh, uh, no it's fine." Sophia said a bit embarrassed, looking back over to Matilda as she asked. "No you can go first, I still need to get my clothes and stuff."

Seras listened intently as Sara made her instructions, making the cuts as she demonstrated.

 

[Slenn]

The other three sisters would be done in the time that had passed while Sara was training Seras and Joel. They all were fresh as daisies, fully dressed and ready to go.

Joel watched Sara carefully, matching her movements as best he could.

[color=006d5b]"Oh, I'll need to get mine, too."[/color] Matilda replied, turning around to go get her clothes. Sophia may, again, see the birthmark on Matilda's back.

Seras, for some reason, was starting to sweat, but this didn't seem to bother her as she continued her practicing.

 

[Zepherus14]

"Alright." Sophia said as she watched Matilda leave, partially wondering to herself how Matilda would manage to get to her room, due to blindness. She also saw the same birthmark again but didn't exactly want to bring it up. Her priority at the moment was getting out of the damn swimsuit, and by George she was going to do it. Once Matilda was out of the room, Sophia soon headed out herself.

 

[Slenn]

The sisters stepped outside as they caught Sara watching over their training. She clapped, signalling that they were at the end of their practice runs with the eight slashes.

<color=brown>"Excellent work. We'll take a ten minute break unless we are so eager to move on." She said coyly with a hint of sarcasm.
