The squad advanced steadily in a diamond formation, with the sergeant at the front. They did not yet notice the trio that was still around, due to the dark conditions.

After ten minutes of hauling broken Scout-bots and the weapons they carried through the portal, Elm and Sam emerged on the beach again, Sam dusting off his hands while he looked around. "Seems to be the last of them." He commented.

"There is still scrap metal left. Collect the fragments, too." Elm stated as it hovered towards a pile of metal fragments, and began collecting them.

Sam looked incredulously from behind his faceplate, then asked, "What, seriously? ...Why?"

"Materials collected equals costs saved for us." Elm answered, picking up two handfulls of metal, then floating back to the portal.

Sam stared at Elm for a moment, then let out a single, "Hah!" in amusement, walking forward and beginning to help Elm collect scrap. "For a super shadow organization, you people are stingy!"

Eight minutes later

After a while, the duo finished collecting scrap, Elm closing the portal. "Now to move to the vehicle. We'll look at the inner workings of it, then go to retrieve tools for disassembly." Elm stated. "We'll go via portal to the north-east side of the city, and go the rest by foot."

With that said, Elm went through the preparations to open a portal, then did so. Stepping through, Elm closed the portal behind the duo. They then began walking towards the wrecked carrier, arriving at the site after eight more minutes of walking, one minute later then XCOM arrived at the site.

Sam walked up front, in his usual pose of moving slightly slouched, yet stiffly, and one hand on his sword. Elm hovered close behind.

These mercenaries were all fucking insane! I'd say something about but I had a feeling that at least one of them would probably kill me if I made any negative remarks. I spoke up when the Soldier talked though
"I believe you mean The World. We're helping more than America."
When the lady in purple talked I spoke up and said
"I say we got to New Zealand first. Won't be hard considering that it wasn't sunken last time I checked."
Scout seemed to be in deep thought about what Miss Pauling said. "... Well I'm pretty sure I could take dis Administrator... But I don't know where she keeps all da money... Is it possible to kill her and then somehow get the money?"

"I understand that we might look a bit strange to you, humans, as you call yourselves. But that's my wife you are calling 'it', and I for one do not appreciate her being referred to in that manner." Azmot said sternly, a mix of understanding and contempt in his voice. "Who's that now?" He said as he noticed the craft touching down with the XCOM workers and Phaesan. "Or them?" He commented on Sam and Elm.

"Ya you could say that." Sophia answered back with a huff. "He was a bad influence in some respects, but he had a lot of pressure in his life too. He was a good person."
Sophia simply stood there for the moment, Soldier's display a little too outlandish for her to properly process. 'I can't tell if he was actually being serious or not.' She continued to stare, dumbfounded.

"Can't we just, pull the big extension cord on the robots or something?" She suggested.

Soldier ignored Kenna and Mr Stone, seeming to be intent on holding his pose for as long as possible.

"You must not be good at keeping up with world events if you think that New Zealand isn't sunken." Miss Pauling said to Stone.

Great, now I'll need to kill the scout later...

"What?" Miss Pauling asked, looking confused at Seras' question. "Oh, right! I'll give you a reminder of our options. The three caches... well, possible caches, since I don't know if anything is actually there, are on the moon, in the sunken nation of New Zealand, and in a haunted, abandoned mine in Australia. If we go to New Zealand, we should probably find the Sniper first. Also, Saxton Hale, the former CEO of Mann Co, is somewhere in Australia as well. Our Heavy weapons specialist is in Siberia, and we might also be able to get help from a an ancient wizard named Merasmus, who lives in Ullapool, Scotland."

Soldier suddenly broke from his pose as he heard the wizard's name. "MERASMUS!!!" He screamed at the sky, clenching his fists.

"Do NOT let soldier come with you if you try to get Merasmus' help."

"...When did New Zealand sink?" Seras asked, feeling like that was something people would probably be talking about.

"Maybe it happened before any of us came to this world?" Faro suggested. Neither of them could deny that as a possibility, even if it seemed unlikely.

"Lets go there I guess." Seras said finally.

"Yeah, I can see why he'd be under pressure." Matilda replied, thinking about what kind of person you'd have to be to work with Miss Pauling.
"Maybe we should split up. I've had enough sand recently, and I'm pretty sure there's a lot of the stuff in Australia." Joel said, his eyes wandering to the joints of his mechanical left arm. Soldier would likely notice Joel's Canadian accent.
"And I think I'd freeze in Siberia. My vote is for Oz." Matilda said.

"Okay, New Zealand it is, then. We'll need a submarine, and we'll need to find the Sniper. I'll tell the mercs to steal a submarine, then I can go with you to search for Sniper. Sound good? Great. Miss Pauling said before walking towards the other mercenaries, grabbing Scout and Soldier as she did. She turned back towards Joel and Matilda as she walked away. "Hey, blame your teammate for saying that we should go to New Zealand first. If you have a second ship, you could go to Siberia to find the Heavy. And I'm afraid that Oz is not an option."

"... Oh yeah! Different worlds. My dimension doesn't have sunken New Zealand."
As Scout was dragged away by Miss Pauling he all of a sudden realized something "... Hey I never got to vote! What about the democratic process! I don't wanna go to the Sniper's house! What if he shoots me... Again! Can't we just forget about him! I'm sure we can take on the robots without a guy who just sits back and eats chips for most of the fight! I want a lawyer! And some fried chicken! I plead the fifth!"

"Don't you have any kind of transport? Did we get roped into this just because of Dave's ship?" Joel asked.
"Oz, as in Aus-tra-li-a." Matilda said, slowly.

The squad approached with weapons raised and once they were 50 metres away the sergeant called out an order not heard outside of his helmet. However, the three other squad members would hear his voice in their own helmets. "Fan out and take cover. Taylor, take the right flank. Ignatyev, left flank. Phaesan, front and centre with me." The two other humans followed the orders with a short confirmation, taking cover next to the houses on either side of the road. The sergeant got into cover behind a car in the middle of the road.

Sam and Elm continued on to the carrier, Sam slowing down as he saw Roland standing with the bug people, standing some odd ten metres away. "Hold up. It's one of our marks, or former marks. I don't know." Sam stated, stopping and standing with his right side turned towards Azmot, Jinzi, and Roland, his head turned towards them. "Point is, we've got company, and he's not alone, either."

"We have every right to be here. Move on." Elm instructed. "Although don't engage if it comes to that. Fall back if it we face hostilities."

"This should be... something." Sam idly commented, shrugging to himself, and continuing cassually moving towards the carrier.

"Is splitting up really a good idea? What if we run into more robots? We'll need to be at full strength to deal with them." Faro said.

seras asked Pauline if she had any guns or equipment she could spare.

"If we get attacked by that many robots again, we'll have to run even if we're all there. They weren't exactly the toughest things we've gone up against." Joel replied.
Phaesan did as instructed, taking in the appearances of the others in the area. Noting the number of people, she slung her rifle on her back and drew her sidearm, which resembled a large revolver.

Miss Pauling rolled her eyes, then looked at Scout. "Scout, I'm going to Sniper's house. I'm telling you and the other mercs to steal a submarine. Don't disapoint me."

"We have a network of teleporters to every country on the globe, but they only lead to the capital city. We would then need to find ground transport from there. Your ship is far more effiecient at reaching a specific destination. So regardless of if we want to split up, we can't really do so effectively." Miss Pauling explained to Joel.

"Yes, we have plenty of weapons to spare. Rocket launchers, miniguns, stickybomb launchers, flamethrowers, swords... Miss Pauling answered Seras. "It would be easier just to show you. Pyro, why don't you show our guests to the armory?"

One of the mercenaries, wearing an asbestos-lined, fireproof suit and gas mask stood up at Miss Pauling's request. "Mmmphh hdda hmm. Hmm hmm!" he/she mumbled excitedly at Seras, then hopped in place a few times while clapping excitedly. After calming itself, it began skipping down a hallway towards the armory.

Having noticed the XCOM dropship landing and taking off, as well as the troops getting off and moving in, Azmot was a bit disappointed to see them taking up positions like the city was still under threat. "We do see you over there humans, you don't need to hide behind the houses over there. We've already taken care of the robot menace here. You're welcome!" Azmot yelled loudly.

Jinzi however didn't exactly like Sam heading for the ship on his own, kicking off the ground as she flew over to his direction. "And who might you be?" She asked, pointing down at him from the air. "If you really think you can swoop in and say that you'll take the credit for this, you're mistaken pal."

Scout looked over to Soldier before saying "She totally digs me... Wait... Where the hell am I going to get a submarine!"
