"[small]A ship?[/small]" Sophia asked as she looked over to EMily before following her gaze out. "[small]Oh... that ship.[/small] WAIT! What is that?!" She exclaimed, a bit stunned to see the large tentacles wrapping around the ship so easily.
After the crew translated the message, they sent back a reply, which anyone monitoring radio signals may pick up. "Then we will talk."

EMily received something as radio in the direction of the ship. Photon had it stored in memory and prompted her if she wanted to translate the FM radio into sound. She did so and played the message aloud for everyone to hear.
"Please standby."

Well, better see if I can get ready... Victoria thought to herself as she noticed the Merfolk's obvious and aggressive entrance. She placed her hands behind her back, taking an authoritative stance. She tapped her left ring finger as far down the base of her palm as she could, which would generate a tiny grey flash of light that would only be visible to Sophia and anyone else who had a clear view of her back. After the brief flash, Victoria would have a trench knife clenched in her left hand. That's it?... Well at least it's working a little bit... And barely armed is better than unarmed... She slipped the knife over into her right hand, still keeping both behind her back.
Sophia's gaze was interrupted when a light flashed in her peripheral vision. Not sure what it was she looked over to see the blade appearing in Victoria's hand. 'Well that's something I wasn't expecting.' She thought as she kept her eyes on the blade for a short time more before looking at the ship again.

The group would see that the mermen had their weapons lowered, and none of the crewmen were harmed. The trident-bearer was standing at the edge of the ship, with two other mermen at his side. "Don't even bother asking us to put down our weapons; we won't do it. We don't expect you to, either." the trident-bearer said, clearly expecting the request. "We won't attack, if you don't."

Samus looked at the trident bearer, almost respecting his honesty but afraid that things were already going south.
'They weren't kidding about them being fish men, not like the merpeople from back home though... more like actual beastkin.' Sophia thought as she silently looked the looming people over. Hearing the request/order from the fishy fish guys, Sophia got her confirmation on that subject. 'Well that seems fair at least...' She glanced at everyone else, hoping no one would get hasty.
"Very good then." She said, dematerializing Photon anyway. "Now then. The primary reason we wish to talk is that we want to know the truth. It is my understanding that you wish to inhabit this land. I've also been told that your race was mysteriously transported to this world by accident. How many of you are there? And I mean all of you who have been transported to this world." Her expression did not change, and did not ask for any jokes to be played.
"You understand correctly. And I would describe it as mysterious, though we don't know if it wasn't somehow intentional." the merman replied, turning his attention to EMily. "As for how many, so far I know of around 40. Probably less, depending on how many you've killed. More on the way, though." The group may note no change in tone as the merman mentioned the possible killing of the other merfolk. "I can't tell you how many were transported to this world. There may be others in regions further away, that we can't contact."
'That... that doesn't sound good at all...' Sophia's eyes widened at the thought of more fish men being in other spots around the world, potentially doing the same things there as they were here.
'Right, that's what I was wondering too.' Sophia agreed with EMily's question, not wanting to ask herself given it might confuse the whole situation for the moment.

"The message was passed to three men our messenger met. They were told to pass it on to the leaders of this city." the trident-bearer replied, before looking at Yorick. "Are you familiar with the concept of reproduction?"
"Most forms, yes. So you're really planning on sticking it out for the long run. Unless you reproduce in some manner that I'm not familiar with?" Yorick asked.
