"Do we need to need to break it open? Let me check if it's frozen shut from the inside like before."

EMily concentrated on her infrared vision. If it was frozen from the other side, then the door should be colder than the rest of the walls.

Samus walked back a bit, motioning to the others to do the same, before running into and shoulder tackling the door.

EMily would see that the door was frozen shut, like before.
Samus successfully bashed the door down. As soon as she did, the light became almost blindingly bright, and stopped flashing. The brightness would be worsened by the fact that the group had just been in darkness.

EMily quickly adjusted her vision to that of the near-ultraviolet, so that it wasn't overloaded. This would allow her to still see while her eyes adjusted for brightness.

OOC: Incandescent lights (~3300 Kelvin) do not emit much in the UV spectrum. Only blackbody sources that are much hotter would produce significant UV radiation.

Samus raised her hand and closed her eyes as the light flared, taking a step back. Her visor eventually polarised to shield her eyes, but she was still blinded for a second.

After a couple of seconds, the bright light cut out and a door the group had passed on their way in opened. Two mermen, one with a sword and one with a pair of hammers, emerged and went for EMily and Samus respectively. Two more came out of the room and moved towards the door.

EMily could already sense that there was something sharp and metallic approaching her. She flung out her hands like a mage casting a spell and produced a strong magnetic field, with the energy she built up, against the metal weapons from getting any closer. The others would not feel the magnetic field as long as they weren't inbetween her and the mermen.

OOC: A magnetic field can induce magnetism on ferromagnetic materials and paramagnetic materials. Copper is one such paramagnetic material and can become significantly effected by magnetic fields from rare earth magnets.
Ferromagnets: materials that can be permanently magnetized after being under a magnetic field.
Paramagnets: materials that are magnetized only within the presence of a magnetic field.

Seras, who had stayed a considerable way back, wasn't terribly effected by the light thanks to her natural ability to see in the dark in addition to her being farther from the light. As the mermen showed up, she would start shooting at them, aiming for the center mass of any target that wouldn't endanger EMily. She wasn't too worried about hitting Samus, considering her armor would probably stand up to small arms fire reasonably well.

Yorick, who is still in the stairwell/ on the stairs, waited and made sure no one else was coming from up or down the stairs.

The merman attacking EMily realised that she was creating a protective barrier around herself and circled around her slowly.
The hammer wielder also circled around Samus as she brought her cannon to bear at him. At the same time, he lunged forward and swung both hammers at Samus' lower back.
Seras would find herself being attacked by the other two mermen. One lunged for her gun and attempted to freeze it solid, while the other went to tackle her.

OOC: @Trilby. So if I understand correctly there's 4 total we're fighting?

EMily's eyes glowed even brighter and fired a sizable microwave beam at the center mass of the merman from one of her outstretched hands, attempting to boil the target from the inside. She kept her magnetic field focused on the sword with the other, now having to double the strength of the emitted field since she was only using one hand this time.

One hammer made contact, clanging against Samus' armour, but she moved out of the way before the other could strike. She turned, raising her leg as she did so to deliver a roundhouse kick, activating the thruster in her boot to do more damage.

The meremen apparently weren't that familiar with guns, else they would have known lunging directly toward someone who is actively firing at you isn't a particularly good way of avoiding getting shot. As such, the merman trying to freeze Seras' gun got hit with pretty much the entire 20 round clip in his chest and head. This did leave the gun empty, however, so Seras was forced to jump back and away from the second merman. As she did this, a strange looking axe came sliding across the floor to Seras' feet. Without looking back, she quickly picked up the weapon and readied herself.

There's four mermen in the room right now, yes.

The merman began to boil, but as he did so he dropped his sword and moved forward to try and bite EMily.
Samus' kick hit the merman into the floor, causing him to drop his hammers. He reached over to grab Samus' ankle, and tried freezing her leg armour joints to restrict her movement.
Seras would find out the hard way that jumping back does little to actually prevent someone from tackling you. As such, she was knocked down as she reached for the axe, though the merman stumbled over her. Seras would then see the merman she had shot walk over to her, water gushing from his wounds, and start stomping on her chest, his feet covered in spikes of ice.

Samus stomped on the fish man's neck to keep him pinned, then started unloading blaster shots into his head.

Seras recived a stab to the gut before she gabbed the merman's leg with one arm and swung the axe with the other, aiming to catch the fish-man in the side with the glowing-hot coil.

Yorick walked over and fired his shotgun into the head of the merman that had stumbled over Seras.

With the range dropped to a close one, EMily made a doubled-up attack as a strong visible light laser straight to the face of the merman. Roughly 1200 W from both her hands, enough to burn through to the muscle of the face and blind him.

EMily blinded the merman, however he simply grabbed her wrists and sank his sharp teeth into one of her hands.
Seras' arm began to freeze, however she did hit the merman in the side, causing the water pouring from the fresh wound to turn to steam. With his foot now stuck in place, the merman simply extended the ice spikes into Seras' body.
Yorick missed the merman, as he was trying to shoot a target that was moving erratically, in low light. He did, however, hit the merman's elbow and blew one of his forearms clean off.
Samus successfully pinned the merman down, but before she could fire another bright light appeared in the middle of the room. This one would have a slightly hypnotic quality, and if Yorick saw it he would start to lose the desire to fight.

OOC: Man, knew I should have brought Tyler into this thread...

Seras would try to push the merman off of her with her superhuman strength making up for her lack of leverage.

Yorick was far to busy fired at the merman to notice the light.

EMily's blood, if it drained, sealed up fast. Any transmitted diseases, she was immune to. She held back the pain by suppressing her pain sensors with electric pulses in her body.
"Nice try. But you shouldn't play with electricity."
Her eyes glowed brighter. And with one of her hands in the merman's mouth, she thrusted the other with great strength at the chest. Since she was at a greater energy, her physical strength rose dramatically, alluding to how the fundamental forces of nature get stronger at greater energies. This connection was to complete an electric circuit filled with 50,000 volts of electricity, that she would be immune to. Since the circuit was between her and the merman, the electricity wouldn't reach the others. But only the merman would receive this, through his head, down his spine, through the heart and into the solar plexus.
