The paramedics nodded at EMily in acknowledgement. The ambulance the merwoman was in drove off, while the other paramedics entered the building.

Samus would find no clues underwater, or see any merfolk.

She turned to Yorick and Seras.
"So, what's on your minds? What do you think of the situation at the moment?"

Come to think of it. Maybe I could replicate the flash myself, if I could remember what color it was.

"I'd be nice if we could get a bit of a rest..." Seras said as she sheilded her eyes from the rising sun. She put up the hood of her sweatshirt, but her stomach was now exposed, so she knew that would cause her some problems.

"I'd say these fishmen are going about this invasion pretty strangely. I wonder how many of these things there are." Yorick said as he threw his empty can away.

"It would be nice. I will say that no nightmare lasts forever. I still have some cash on me. I could get you something to eat."

"So far we've been attacked by 2 then 4. If they're planning an invasion, they could have a smattering of powerful men or a swarm of them."

"I'm not hungry, thanks. I'll be needing a new shirt though." Seras said to EMily.

"I'd rather they just get it over with, which would be the most the best strategy. Rather than all these small scale ops that are just giving these folks the opportunity to prepare." Yorick said.

"Alrighty then. I'll keep my eyes pealed for a clothing shop. You have a particular color you like?"

"Speaking of preparations I've delivered the merwoman's corpse to the paramedic's autopsy. They used bioluminescence to produce a bright flash for signaling. Much like an angler fish. I want to see if we can reverse engineer the flash. Maybe we could use it against them."

"...You realize we could probably just use a flashlight and get the same result, right?" Yorick said to EMily.

"Not really. I just need something to cover me. The sun, you know." Seras said as she gave EMily a bashful smile.

"These creatures have a brain the size of a humans and move like humans" She displayed the merwoman's head inside out on Photon. "They would be smart enough to tell the difference. A meadowlark's call is different than a sparrow's call. The Chinese have similar sounding syllables in their scripts that must be read carefully. A flash from a flashlight could be easily distinguishable from a candle flame, or the light from a firefly, or an angler fish. White light from an incandescent light bulb is different than the white light from a fluorescent bulb. If I can remember the flash they used, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Besides, the enemy's corpse is in our possession."

EMily chuckled a little and stood in the way of the sun.
"Now I know why you felt a little insecure telling us the whole story. As well as why you didn't need to breathe; You're an immortal vampire. At least, that's how I understand them. You're still a friend of mine."

"Well, I'm not really immortal. I mean, I'd be dead right now if not for you..." Seras said to EMily, giving her a more sincere smile. "Thanks by the way."

"Alright, fine. I don't think that really deserves a lot of attention though. I mean, why not focus on shooting the fish rather than tricking them." Yorick replied.

"You're most welcome, Seras." She kept her position.

"Maybe I am over thinking it. And maybe it's something simple." She said, attempting to calm Yorick, "But even if we don't use the light, we have a corpse of the enemy. And we can exploit any weak points they might have. After all, we've only see 6 mermen. What if there's a 100 or 1,000? Or a number greater than that? All ready to invade the land. Wasn't it Tzun Tzu who said 'Know your enemy and know yourself, and you will be victorious.'?"

The bug stirred once more in its cocoon, having spend more time in it as it adjusted to digesting new meat, even if it was longer by only a couple of seconds. Once more, it ate its way out of its cocoon, although this time, it only ate the side facing away from the entrance, leaving it blocked off. Turning to the side that was still intact, the bug pushed against it a couple of times to see how sturdy it was, and spun more of the purple thread to reenforce it in places it deemed necesary. Once satisfied, it began heading down the tunnel.

Again it had changed, although not as drastically as before. Now, all six of its insect feet had become little paws, complete with claws, the largest of which being on the hind legs. On both sides of its head, just above its mandibles, it had grown nostrils, and near the back of its head, were too small hearing channel with small but rugged hair surrounding them to prevent dirt from getting in.

The bug moved through the tunnel, a little dazed. Both because with the remains of the cocoon blocking off the entrance to the den, it was in complete darkness, and it was rather overwhelmed by its more accurate sense of smell and completely new sense of hearing. While it adjusted, the bug relied on tried and tested sense of touch, feeling around with its antenna.

OoC: That's it for me for today.

"Sun Tzu said a lot of stuff. Although I think the exact quote is 'Thus it is that one who knows the enemy and knows himself will not be endangered in a hundred engagements.'" Yorick replied to EMily.

"Hmm...I wonder how many there really could be..." Seras said.

OOC: Funnily enough, I actually have a copy of The Art of War. Pretty interesting read.

Koyamadai High School, Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo. 7:27AM

Having made their way through the school building with minimal fatalities, two mermen went looking for a large, open space within the building. The rest were guarding the room that they had herded the humans in the school into.

"To be fair I don't quote him often. There are many interpretations of the quote. Although I've had to be in combat plenty of times beforehand alongside my sisters, having to think on our toes all the time and using whatever we can to gain the upper hand. So maybe my time spent there is showing. After all... I love critical thinking." She made a polite smile.

"I wouldn't expect anything less from a scientist. Though maybe you should quote him more. All that science babble just confuses people. Quoting famous people is how you get people to think you're smart. Like so: If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight, even though the ruler forbid it; if fighting will not result in victory, then you must not fight even at the ruler's bidding." Yorick said, smiling back at EMily, though it would be a little hard to tell the intention of the smile.

She chuckled a little at the phrase 'science babble'.

"Sara, my tall and robust sister, is the most likely candidate to quote him. Some of the best scientists I've met are not necessarily ones that have amazing credentials and can spew elaborate equations on a board. The best ones are the ones that can explain it to someone outside of science. Michael Faraday was much the same way. He wasn't a mathematician, so he used his words and pictures instead. And he's credited for some of the most revolutionary discoveries and inventions. Much like him I love to explain things."

Yorick kept up his smile as he walked closer to EMily. "Makes sense. After all, people will always be more impressed with...visuals." Yorick said as he reached under EMily's apron and came up with a chocolate bar. He then offered the bar to EMily.

Seras seemed to be a little uncomfortable with the action.

"Well done sir." She accepted the chocolate bar. "And thank you. I'm willing to share." She opened it up.

"You know how the thought of a microwave oven came about? Well, it turns out that the inspiration came from an experiment with microwaves. A chocolate bar melted when accidentally exposed to the microwaves."

"What's the matter, Seras?"
