Massai Mara, Kenya - 0:44 AM.
A little over six minutes passed, after which the bug ate the cocoon and moved out of its burrow, emerging being one and three centimeters larger in height and length respectively. Once outside the burrow, the bug first practiced its flying, but like all the times before, didn't make any progress, being unable to fly for more then a couple of seconds before gracelessly falling. After this, it ate its way through the grasslands, until it caught wind of a new scent.
Clacking its mandibles softly, the bug followed the scent, lowering itself into a prowl and masking its scent once it hung thicker in the air. Its prey coming in sight before long, the bug saw a trio of oribis, relatively small antelopes. Looking the trio over, the bug thought for a moment on which of the oribis to take down, but soon decided it would try to take down all of them. Waiting for a moment longer for one of the oribis to move closer, lunging at the first one that did.
Biting down on the oribi, the bug extended its fangs and pierced its hind leg, injecting the neurotoxin into its bloodstream. Retracting its fangs and letting go of the oribi, the bug began chasing after the other two, who by now had a signifficant headstart. After roughly thirty seconds of chasing a single oribi after losing sight of one, and with one that the bug was still chasing gradually becoming a smaller dot in the distance, the bug stopped, figuring it wouldn't catch up.
Annoyed, the bug clacked its mandibles quickly, producing something of a rattling noise, then began retracing its steps to make its way back to the oribi it had bitten.
