"Very good then. I will agree to this, but I'll need to see if the rest of our group agrees to this decision. Remember that there will be no stopping a human offensive if there is another attack. Thank you for your information. Please stand by."

She turned away for a second and directed the others to meet to get a vote.

As EMily turned away, the group would hear the same whalesong as earlier, coming from beneath the ship.

You nod to EMily, not wanting to fight off a minimum of forty opponents with possibly an endless reinforcements to follow. You glance over at Victoria, hoping the cat-lady wont try to go at it alone and possibly drag you and the others into it.

You wonder which side you'd fight with, if such a thing happened. You hold no real allegiance to either party, but you have a hunch fighting the group or the merpeople would both be very risky. You decide it probably depends on if the others try to stop Victoria or not.

"You already know I don't."
Vicky simply said to EMily. She continued staring at the mermen, her tail occasionally flicking from one side to the other.

"So far it's three in favor, one against. Anyone else have any input?"

You casually flick your blaster to stun, then slowly draw it. You suspect Victoria is not about to back down, but you do not want to kill her either. Pointing it to the ground, you look over at EMily and indicate it is set to stun.

EMily nods to Shara.

She then turns for a short time to ask the mermen one small question.
"Quick question. Out of curiosity, are those whale sounds coming from one of your whales?"

"It's coming from one of my mermen, if that's what you're asking." the trident-bearing merman replied.

"Thank you for your information."

She turned back to the group.

"My word in this is the following. There has never before been an encounter of these people on this planet. It is unlikely that they came from outside the Earth, as they not only look human, but also travel primarily by sea. As such it is unlikely that they are from this same world. It is also extremely likely that their customs, from where they come from, are incompatible with the customs of the Earth. Since we have heard from multiple sources that they are few in number, it must suggest that their arrival on this planet was by accident. Even if their numbers were in the hundreds or thousands, it wouldn't be feasible for them to invade such large quantities of lives and an area so large when this planet has 7 billion human inhabitants."

"And what exactly was the point of that information?"
Vicky asked EMily, still not turning away from the mermen to look at her.

She turned back.
"Yes. The majority has agreed to help you in finding a suitable location for you to live. Welcome to planet Earth."

"Thank you." the merman said, before turning to go inside the ship. "I will discuss transport and the nearby islands with the captain of this vessel."

"Good. Remember, no violence. Words are the first thing."

She took a deep breath and let out a relaxed sigh.
It looks like it will turn out for the best then.

"I meant the repeating it part."
Vicky replied to EMily. She let out an angry breath as the mermen walked away and brought her hands out from behind her back. She shifted her knife back to her left hand, causing it to disappear in another small flash of light.
Code:
"All I'm gonna say on this is that this [b]is[/b] going to come back and bite someone in the ass."

After a while, the ship began to leave the bay, heading out to sea. It would go on a slightly altered course from usual, to direct the merfolk towards a relatively nearby, uninhabited island where they would live.

End of Act I

As the mermen entered the ship to speak with its crew, a figure wandering around nearby, staring out to sea. The figure would be one recognisable only to Victoria: Phaesan.

"Only time will tell." She said to Victoria. She then looked over at the curious looking figure, but she couldn't recognize it. For the moment, EMily just took the opportunity to listen to the sound of the waves against the shore.

Just the sound of peace I wanted to hear.

Moving away from the general area where the meteor crashed, back to its prime hunting ground, grazing on the way, the bug picked up a new but stale scent. Following it, while snatching up grasses with its pincers and eating these, the bug eventually came across the cadaver of a warthog killed by the shockwave. Approaching it, the bug saw the familiar sight of a swarm of flies hovering over it. Initially, it tried to snatch them out of the air, but when that failed, it decided to try a different approach.

Tearning into the warthog, the bug bit off a chunk of meat, but didn't imediately eat it, instead holding it in its mouth with its mandibles wide open, the piece of meat serving as a lure for the flies. Waiting for a while to attract a decent number, the bug closed its mouth once it could feel the flies move around in it, then shallowed both them and the piece of meat. It repeated this until there were too few flies for it to bother with, then ate the rest of the warthog.

After finishing its meal, the bug moved on, grazing a little more until it was full, then dug a hole and cocooning itself. It would remain in its cocoon for seven minutes and twentyeight seconds, before eating its way out again, emerging being 2cm taller, and 3cm longer. In addition, its eyes had a red and green sheen to it, and the exoskeleton on its forehead had grown into a horn-like potrusion with a small hole at the tip.

Happily clacking its mandibles, it moved on, grazing as it went.
