Preginald summoned an Emerald the size of a small child through a portal and tossed it Eragon's way. "That's the prized treasure of the Xivalvi. I killed 50 men personally to get my hands on that stone. And I would have been more than willing to kill 500. Hope that answer your question."

Joel looked under the seat and pulled out the bag of weapons he's taken from the armoury. HE selected a handgun and raised it. "Want me to push my kill-counter up?"
Joel looked at the emerald. Maybe... a souvenir for Matt?
"I can has?" he whimpered.

OOC: It's weird that Artie, who is basically the Anti-Joel, has just been revealed to have killed an entire city and nobody cares.

Will sat back in his seat and smirked. "I'd like to see you try it with you hands...you know...like a man." He certainly wasn't intimidated by this man.

OOC: Considering the present company I'm not surprised. Non of our characters are any stranger to killing obviously.

Mat ran through his memories, "Do nonhuman beings count?" It was a good question, how many people had he killed? He tried to think, but it was difficult. Other memories from other men got in the way. Memories that were his now, so seamlessly woven into his mind he might well have lived them. Even disregarding them, it had to be at least a few dozen personally, then several thousand in war, then an untold amount counting all his other memories.

Joel rose to the challenge. "Inefficient." He stepped off the bus, saw a small shop with five people in it and fired a round into each of them. "Eleven. So far."
"Yeah, non-human beings count. I've met two humans in my life. Artie's only kills were dolphins."

Preginald aimed his revolver at Joel using the rearview mirror. "You touch that jewel and I'll make a rug out of your pelt you filthy mongrel."

Joel lowered his handgun. "I wasn't actually going to- shit, cops." Joel dropped to the floor of the bus.

"I couldn't put a number to it, then." Mat responded. Counting Trollocs, Myrdraal, and Dragkhar, it could be anything. Perhaps millions, counting those other men's memories. Mat looked at the jewel, that would pay for his army for years, he thought. "Care to make a wager for the emerald?" He asked the small nonhuman who had joined them. "I don't believe I've caught your name yet." He held out a hand, "I'm Thom Grinwell, hunter for the Horn of Valere."

Preginalds open contempt for the sanctity of life frankly disgusted Eragon but he remained quiet as he remembered whose bus he was riding. Holding the emerald he twisted it around in his hands, his enhanced eyes open for any flaws. There was none. He tossed the emerald through the air. "So you kill for personal gain. as do you Merc." He said. "Dromaeus you have killed for the advancement of your own glory as well as the safety of your country." Motioning to Joel and Artemis he said "You either kill for no reason at all or are not in control of who you kill." Without turning he continued "and you Will have a job to do and will see it through no matter the cost." eragon looked at the floor sadly before saying "It seems some of us here will not always see me as an ally, regretably i may be drawn into confilct with some of you in the future. He looked towards the cockpit where Preginal was driving.

OOC: Since I'm playing an Eragon after the Inheritance cycle I wouldn't be able to guess his kill count even if I read all the books again. Its a really big number by the end og the 4th book.

The Merc growled. "I don't do it for personal gain. I do it because I'm good at it. Play to your strengths and all that crap. I get hired to protect people. This sword was given to me on my most recent job. To kill polar bears if I run out of ammo. That's where I found... the box."

Joel whined. "I killed for a very complex plan so brilliant you wouldn't even understand."

"And I killed Darin because he murdered my pregnant wife in front of me, just because he hates cross-breeding. The city was... a lapse in control because my wife had just died in front of me." Artie explained.

Joel looked up. "Yeah... how is Melusine these days?"

"I'm Preginald DSington. And I'm always up for a bit of sport Thom. What did you have in mind?"

OOC: Aww hell. I may have miss represented William to some extent. It was widely agreed that he was ruthless and tenacious in his strategy and tactics, but this was more due to his single minded quest for ultimate victory for the Union. However, he was also know to be very lenient on surrendering solider and the conquered civilians of the confederacy. To put it simply, he was against the mistreatment of civilians and, considering Joel just killed a bunch in cold blood...

Will nearly laughed at Joel's statement. "Of course it's inefficient if you can't do it correctly." After he saw Joel shoot the civilians his mood soured instantly. He grabbed Joel by his overpriced shirt and growled, "What the hell is wrong with you, you...son of a *****!"

 

[Arrogancy]

Mat smiled, "I'll challenge you to a game of chance, if I win, you hand over the emerald, if you win, you get to name any price, and I'll pay it. Sound fair?"

Joel slipped the barrel of the gun under Will's chin. "Think you're faster than a wolf? A wolf who can manipulate the world around him? A wolf who is psychic? A wolf who can smell fear?"

Joel grinned and lowered the gun. "Let's get to New York, okay? Then you can shoot the hell out of fake-me."

Eragon said mentally You are all slower than me in thought and action, cease this stupid infighting" A dent appeared in the roof and Eragon looked up to see the outline of a man. He smirked thats how he got onto the bus as well. "It seems we have another visitor." He said, this time verbally.
