Will thought for a moment. A grim realization came to him. "I...the last time I saw him he was fighting that strange beast..." he said, feeling mildly uncomfortable.
Eragon looked up from his sword. "Mu's dead." He said bluntly. "I felt his mind cease to be in the face of that monster."
"Ah yes they were brothers." Eragon said. Gradually becoming himself once more. "I could tell him if you wish."
"Physicaly I'm fine but I'm not holding up as well as I'd like mentally." He looked on solemly. "If Glaedr had not intervened I would still be fighting in that city now....I cry your pardon, all of you...I was...not myself." He stood up to go find Nu and give him the news.

Spoken like a true soldier. "I am no soldier like you Will. You are made of harder stuff than me. I am a rider which means I am what is required of the land most. I could never line up in ranks or follow the orders of anyone but my leigelord." Eragon said as they walked.
"Regardless. You've proven to be a a good ally to have, and I have no qualms with how you conduct yourself on the battlefield." Will reassured the young man.
Eragon simply nodded. He suddenly realised he felt Jack Noir's mind again. He stopped Will and drew Brisingr. "Stop." He said. "I feel Jack Noir's mind." He gazed around unable to pinpoint it mentally. "Be ready."
