OOC: I'm also in college, figured I'd grab the chance to check in during lunch. Can't stay for more than 15 minutes.
The radio lying on the dashboard crackled and Joel's voice filled the cockpit, snapping me out of my boredom as I guided the plane through the endless night sky. I looked left and, seeing that Swiftrunner was asleep, answered the radio myself.
"Mike here. We're still en route to our destination. Luckily the plane we grabbed seems to have plenty of avgas capacity. I'm going to fly to Sierra Leone as thats the nearest diamond producing country I know of. I don't know how the hell we're supposed to land when we get there though. Even if they have any airfields, and thats a big if, I've never actually flown before, and landing a plane is a lot fucking harder than takiing off."
I'm not sure whether thats a suggestion that my character is about to swarmed as a product of your portal opening or that my character was meant to do something... In other words, confusion. It is me.
Kazuya: "uhh..we are about to run a test teleport, but...how will you transport your armies though 1 portal?...!
Rugal: "I won't. I just needed to see if you could make one, followed by several more, Run the test and you will get to meet will a friend of mine..."
K: "Bu-but how will I affo-"
R: "This is fate of your world here...do as you are told and perhaps you might live though it...
K: "...*sigh*...yes...sir..."
R: "Good girl...I gotta go, this line is unsafe..."
Joel heard Mike over the radio. "Mike? i guess you're the human who went to Africa... I think landing the plane will be the least of your worries though... listen, be on the look-out for anyone suspicious. Alek and I are worried Rugal is doing something he doesn't want us to know about."
I guess the action is going to be slow far awhile then. Until something interesting comes up lets say my character dragged himself back to the bar and has taken a seat whilst he watchs the TV for anything strange. Till a plot development or something, I'll have my head buried in my Psych book and will be occasionally checking the thread. So see you guys when something happens.
I'm even more confused now. Is your character in the vicinity of mine? Or am I doing a quick systems check on GS and he detects this broadcast? Help a guy out here.
"Why does that not surprise me? Don't worry, we're making enemies at a healthy enough rate that I'll be as vigilant as possible." A change on the GPS caught my attention.
"We're just reaching the African coastline. I'm going to have to start looking for a safe landing zone. Keep us posted on any dodgy dealings that you become aware of."
OOC: Lunch break's over, I'll be back this evening.
I'd assume it's GS picking the signal up. And if you want plot for yourself, I could always have Joel implant you with the idea to set up traps for Rugal. It's his thing.
I'm even more confused now. Is your character in the vicinity of mine? Or am I doing a quick systems check on GS and he detects this broadcast? Help a guy out here.
Just say that you picked it up, It is a long distance call after all, then you could try to warn the others or go after Rugal, whatever
Rugal: "...Let me know how the test goes, I'll be en route to Toyto, also, you got UAV Sats?"
Kazuya: "...yyeesss...."
R: "Keep an eye out on the following locations, Iceland Volcanoes, 3 Mile Island and a diamond rich region of Africa...Signing off..."
Joel waited for Alek to finish preparing the Stormwalker by meditating, and reliving the previous day. So we went into the forest, and there was a fire... then Nicole turned up... Mike and the wolf came from... wait, I saw someone else there. In the darkness... yes... Let's track this fucker down. Joel sent out a tendril of power, searching Ireland for traces of him. The energy tracks get darker at this clothes shop... but this pub is strongest. Let's hope he's not too drunk. Joel began to astral project, a talent he had learned from observing Father Tim. "Hey... guy. What's your name?"
Looking at the street plan from above and looking if there was a big tower near it, Sear Drop flow in a straigth line towards the building.
"Your flying.......remeber. Now where......is the......pegasus.........entarence?" Sear Drop asked.
The stormwalker started forward, with everyone (Saito, Joe, Joel, and Alek) inside. "There's been a change in plans." Alek said. "According to Rugal, there's some Adamantium nearby, but it's along the mouth of a volcano. I think it might be our best bet." He was thankful that that was mostly true.
Joel weakened his focus on the projection, only leaving the ears active in case the man responded, and hopped into the Stormwalker as it left.
"There's been a change in plans." Alek said. "According to Rugal, there's some Adamantium nearby, but it's along the mouth of a volcano. I think it might be our best bet."
"Yeah, I got the same message." Joel continued. "I assume there's a refinery or facility there too, to process the ore or experiment on it. We'll probably end up in a shootout, but this Stormwalker should protect us, right Alek?"
Alek turned to Joel. "Likely." He thought for a moment. "It might be better if you and Saito leave the walker. It will be a useful distraction, and I'm the only one who can pilot it."
Joel nodded, and jumped out of the Stormwalker. He climbed its back and sat on the shoulders with a sniper rifle drawn, and an assault rifle on his back as he waited for Saito to arrive so they could formulate a plan.
I'll go with the GS angle then it seems the safest route, it's just I don't want to suddenly turn my character into the guy who knows something is going on and had no viable way of knowing. Plus wouldn't your character had to have met mine, failing that at least know of his existance in order to do that? Also did your characters fly to... Oh scratch what I was about to say I didn 't notice that cleverly hidden event before.
After he had finished at the clothing store, Renlen had returned to the pub he had been at previously. Sticking his head through the door, he signalled the Barkeep for a drink to be brought outside. Once the man had delivered the drink and been paid, Renlen sat and unclipped Guilty Spark from where he had been hanging on his belt. He decided now would be as good as any time to do a systems check. Renlen casually sat back, sipping his drink whilst GS ran through various programs and sub-routines checking that each were running without errors before testing it's more practical functions.
GS was quietly releasing bursts of static and normal radio chatter as it checked if it could still access all radio frequencies when it happened. Out of nowhere Renlen heard the words "That Portal better be up" before it was replaced by more static. Taking interest in the mentions of portals, Renlen turned to GS and mentally commanded it to go back to the channel that broadcasted those words. It took a couple of seconds but eventually Renlen heard
"...how will I affo-"
"This is fate of your world here...do as you are told and perhaps you might live though it...
"...*sigh*...yes...sir..."
"Good girl...I gotta go, this line is unsafe..."
Intrigued and feeling slightly sly for stumbling on someone's obviously private conversation, Renlen continued to listen.
"...Let me know how the test goes, I'll be en route to Toyto, also, you got UAV Sats?"
"...yyeesss...."
"Keep an eye out on the following locations, Iceland Volcanoes, 3 Mile Island and a diamond rich region of Africa...Signing off..."
Then static burst forth, signalling the end of the conversation. Leaning back, Renlen queried GS if he had recorded the conversation as he was programmed to do so. When he received the confirmation, he played back what had been said. "Strange" he thought "Why would someone be discussing portals in relation to the fate of the world? And what was so special about Iceland, Africa and that Island?" "Well according to the transmission any answers I seek will be found in Toyto(Tokyo?) but I'm uncertain as to what or who I should look for there. Maybe if I scanned dimensional annomal-" At that exact moment, he heard a buzzing signalling a mental probe in the area. He felt cold as he heard the words "Hey... guy. What's your name?" filling the air around him. Shit was going downhill again. He thought back to his earlier ecounter with the Cycler and wondered if this may have been one of allies. Uncertain of the limits of the power possessed by the person who had contacted him, Renlen sent out a small audio burst in his general vicinity, equally unsure how best to communicate, "Are you an ally of the Cycler or Wolf man?" he queried.
Joel focused his projection again. "The Cycler? I don't know. The wolf? Let's just say circumstances have forced us to work together, but they're in Africa right now. Listen, you're a perfect ally for me. There's this guy named Rugal. What do you know about him?"
"Heli watte? Never mind. I see....a place....to land......on the.......roof."
After landing on the roof, Sear Drop looked around. "Any idea how to get in? I don't see any way. Only a block with metal strips in it. (elevator) I can buck in on the windows if you want."
Matt looked at the elevator. "No, no. I got this." He pulled out Joel's PDA again and browsed the file marked 'Passwords'. "Mmmhmm. Elevator... call... roof... done! Wait... camera... Loop feed? sounds good... view current recordings. multi-screen. there." The elevator rose through the building, and reached the roof. "Just walk in." Matt explained, entering the elevator.
Alek continued to pilot the stormwalker forward. Alright, he had a plan in motion. With luck, Joel would be taken care of, without him actually needing to do anything, Volger would approve of this plan. Alek did feel guilty about this act, even if he wasn't doing it, he was trying to condemn another to die, Darwinist beast or no. But he was resolved. There was too much at stake for him to show weakness, not now. He just had to keep focus...
And with that, I'm off. I'll be back later to follow up.
Apparently, the person on the other end of the probe wasn't sure of who the Cycler was and had been forced into a contract of some kind with the Wolf, perhaps the beast and nade man were holding someone precious to this person hostage. Renlen cursed his two previous adversaries. They were quickly becoming his mortal enemy. Sensing that the projector's power were at the same level as his, Renlen 'replied' "My condolences for being forced into a partnership with the Wolf man and I believe his companion with the grenades. I don't recall hearing of or meeting a man named Rugal and so cannot help you any information concerning him. May I ask you a few questions? I don't mean to be rude or anything bordering on the concept but do you know about anything that might be happening in Japan or specifically tokyo? Also, I may be going a bit far but, what is your current location? And the Cycler who I mentioned before will react to the phrase 'a General of OblivionSec called, he wants to know who you are'. I suggest trying it on any companions you are currently traveling with. And since you seem trustworthy enough, I am Renlen Deadeye."
