Electrical cables, gnawed away by rats, slipped through an unnoticed gap in the gas pipelines. A freak spark flicked off, and hit the gas. The gas ignited, and expanded outwards. The pressure built up, and flames exploded out. Buildings, roads, schools, hospitals and airports were destroyed.

Royce's breathing was shaky for a moment. He felt like he was going to break down again. Then Charlotte helped him to his feet. He gave her a miserable smile. 'Man...how can this girl, who can't be much older than me, be so calm and composed like this?' he thought. Then he scolded himself. 'Stop it! Stop feeling sorry for yourself! It's not helping anyone.' He nodded to himself. He took a deep breath and his nodding became more apparent. "Yeah...yeah right...calm down...sincere mind...tranquil fury...I-I'll work on that for the next time I have to use the suit." he said as he tried to make himself appear less dejected.

Charlotte smiled in Royce reaffirming himself. "Have some chocolate... It'll make you feel better." she takes out chocolate bar.

"Uh...thanks..." Royce said as he took the chocolate. He broke off a small piece and put the rest away. He nibbled on the small piece with a smile. The chocolate was MUCH better than any of the D ration bars that he usually got.

Joe crouched there, hands still clenching his head as the pictures continued to play in his head. They were terrible, the feelings, the emotion, everything. Swear was dripping from his head.

At the end of the slideshow of horror, Joe couldn't take it anymore. Maybe it was just the memories, or a combination of the mental stress he'd put himself under trying to control the 'gift' he had been given. But Joe collapsed on the floor, unconscious, flames spouting from him every now and then.

Mnemosyne sighed. Using her powers again, the airport became completely stable, and the wreckage mostly fixed up.

Chak'tika began attempting to soothe Joe, "It is alright now Joe, the beast is gone now. If he pokes his head out again, rest assured I will cut it off." Chak'tika began to whistle a soothing song.

Royce finally realized Joe was shouting and crying nearby. "Joe! What's wrong? Are you hurt? Joe!" he shouted after running over and kneeling next to the stick figure. Then he saw Chak trying to sooth him, so he stopped shouting.
