In a basement like structure beneath a temple, there was a platform in a large room and in it's center was a pyramid with four tablet on the side of each of the cardinal directions. On each tablet was recorded but a few words.

"Recorded on these stone tablets are the names of us Guardians. Otherwise known as Dragon-Slayers."
The young boy looked back to the giant of what one who seldom call a man, as he had large wings, great red horns and brown skin.
"WHAT? What are you talking about? I thought-"
As he started to speak it became apparent that the platform was more than he had orginally thought. All around them were nothing less than dragon bones. It would seem they stood within a graveyard of sorts.
Before his very eyes, the spirits of the dragons started to stir. Could Garr see this as well?
"The number below my name is the number of dragons I killed in the war."
As Garr spoke a Dragon Spirit approached him and seemed to look at him with contempt. It was obvious that this spirit wanted nothing less than Garr's life as atonement. And yet, Garr did not seem to react to it. And then the spirit disappeared.
Garr turned and started to walk away.
"Ryu. Let me tell you what happened to your people. What happened to the Brood. Nearly 400 years ago, the savage and malevolent Brood attempted to conquer the world, igniting a fierce war. The Brood were strong and awesome. We, the people of the Urkan, beseeched our God for protection from their great evil."
Garr turns around to face the boy.
"Our God bestowed upon us Guardians. Her holy might in order to fight the Brood. After a mighty struggle, the last of the Brood were defeated and their bones laid here."
Garr takes out his spear and stands at the ready.
"Ryu. You are the last of the Brood. Once you are dealt with my purpose shall be complete. Prepare yourself, Ryu!"
"Garr... I don't want to fight you."
"Then, die!" Garr lunged forward.

Ryu awoke, still on top of the Carrier.
"A dream... of the past?" Ryu stood up.
"Garr... You lied to me. You never believed any of that. That was why you took me to Angel Tower. That was why you wanted to fight me after telling me all that. Because you wanted to know the truth. Not the lies that you told yourself to feel that you were right."
