Jessica sighed and stopped rubbing her head as Ness spoke to her, not even seeming to notice her until she did. "Just a sub-par day is all. I went down to the river, not a single boat or dock in sight. We're gonna have to go all the way down to Port Letosh to get one. Plus some annoying prick was playing crappy music down there when I went to check it out, wouldn't even let me just sit there and enjoy myself. And to top it all off, I was just reminded as to why I'm not a big fan of humans....No offense."

Yukino gives Kyosuke a wave as he leaves before curling up into a ball up in a tree nearby.

Ness looks at Jessica and nods slowly after breathing out a bit of smoke. "So no way to the Wild Lands from here? That does suck quite a bit, looks like our next stop's going to be Granite Pass. Sorry to hear that humans have pissed you off in the past. If you really want to, I'll walk with you to the river." ...Bad music? Maybe I can fix that later.

"Yeah, I'm thinking our next move would be to get some supplies, then head out sometime tomorrow. And it's not your fault." Jessica replied. She paused for a moment before saying, "I suppose it might be nice to go back to the river again. There's not a lot of running water sources where I'm from, so I just really like observing them when I see them."

Ness smiles a bit after taking another drag of her cigarette and starting off. "I see, then let's go. And mind if I ask why you don't see them much? I'm always cooped up in a lab, so that's my reason for wanting to go and see it, I suppose."

Jessica smiled at Ness and nodded, then started heading down the path to the river once again. "I've spent my entire life in a city is pretty much the reason. So somewhat the same as yours I guess. Didn't you say you came here for a break or something? How's it going so far?"

 

[DotSlash]

Ness shrugs a bit as she follows Jessica. "Well, being thrown in a war wasn't the most ideal vacation from my world, but this town in particular is really helping the whole 'break' thing out. Today feels like the first time I've been able to lay back and relax. How about you?"

 

[Drakmorg]

"Well that's good to hear. And as much as I've enjoyed all the new things I've been seeing, I can't help but feel a little guilty about that. I'm supposed to be doing research, and I've barely gotten any farther than square one. So far my only idea to try and test my hypothesis would be to stop this war that's going on, but how am I supposed to do that? I don't even know where to begin!" Jessica replied, beginning to sound a little exasperated. When Jessica and Ness had made it to the river, Jessica sat down close to the bank and stared at the gently flowing waters to try and calm herself down.

Ness stays standing, minding her distance from Jessica and keeping her cigarette in her mouth. She replies in a calm tone. "Ah... That's true... But it's hard to make progress without knowing exactly where to strike at it. Your hypothesis might be right, but the war might not be the thing we were sent here to do. We've only covered half of this continent so far, so it's likely our purpose will show itself once we travel enough."

 

[Drakmorg]

"Hopefully it will be something simpler, but I honestly don't think that's the case. The timing on everything is just far too coincidental." Jessica replied, still just staring straight forward at the river. "But I think you're right. Travelling around might just give me the answer I need." She glanced over at Ness and took note of her keeping her distance.

 

[DotSlash]

Ness chuckles a bit as she walks up a little closer to the river and takes another drag of her cigarette. "Now you're starting to sound like Rex! Well, if what we need to do is involved with the war... then I might have one lead..."

 

[Drakmorg]

"Hmm? How am I sounding like him? I've hardly even spoken to the man. Where is he by the way? I'm afraid I haven't made time to speak with him" Jessica replied to Ness' comment regarding Rex. She looked over at the fedora wearing girl more expectantly and asked, "You do? What's your lead?"

 

[DotSlash]

Ness chuckles as she looks into space for a moment. "It's something he said after he came back from his first dimension trip. 'I can't give up just because I didn't find what I wanted the first time. I'll keep travelling until I find my answer' or something like that. Last I saw of him, he was in Pewtercove... but I'm sure he'll be fine. As for the lead..."

Ness brings up a picture on her PDA, displying an article. It talked about Sav's mother, Admiral Idula, and her being missing. "This is Savranth's mother who's missing. He says she's on a secret mission of some sort. Maybe we can learn more about the war from her, provided we find someone who knows where she is."

 

[Drakmorg]

"Dammit! I should have made time to speak with him sooner!" I wonder what he was looking for though? Guess I'll just have to ask him if I see him again. Jessica spat, cursing herself. She scratched her chin in thought as she looked over the article Ness had brought up. "I suppose it's worth looking into, if only for Savranth's sake. I doubt we'll be able to find out much until we get to one of the larger Legaian cities though."

 

[DotSlash]

Ness nods a bit in reply to Jessica. "In that case, we may want to go to Fourside. It looks like the biggest city on the Legaian side. It's bound to have someone who knows what's going on."

Regarding Rex, she shakes her head a bit. "Don't beat yourself up over it. Knowing him, he's bound to pop up at some point. You'll get you chance to speak with him."

 

[Drakmorg]

Jessica took out her camera to check her map once more. "Good idea. Looks like we'd still have to go around the mountains to get there though, so we might as well keep our sights set on Port Letosh for now." She breathed a sigh of relief and added, "Well you have known him for far longer than I have, so I'll trust what you say there."

 

[DotSlash]

Ness smiles toward Jessica while putting her hand to her chin. "Alright then, we'll set off for the Port... Well... Whenever we're ready, I guess. I'd kind of like to check out the seafood there... Also, I'm glad you trust me on something." She rises off the ground, and yawns a bit. "I'm gonna head back... It's getting late."

From the grove of trees Yukino had fallen asleep in, Rex looks over at the two from cover, equally as bloody as Yukino was once she came back. Well... Didn't know I was wanted. He looks up at the foxgirl and leans up on a tree, going to sleep.

 

[Drakmorg]

"Alright. I know you're on a break and all, so don't feel the need to rush to get out of here or anything for my sake. I've got a few things I can look into on my own if you want to stay around here a little longer, so don't worry about me." Jessica replied to Ness. She wiped her mouth as she realized she had began to drool upon the mention of seafood. "And of course I trust you. I mean, we're friends, aren't we? And you haven't given me any reasons not to trust you. And go on ahead. I think I'll stay out here just a bit longer." She said, then went back to looking at the river once again.

Ness smiles again and giggles slightly at Jessica drooling. "Right, we're friends. That's why I'll go out of my way to help you. I'll talk to you later, Jessica." She turns away and makes her way back to her hotel room, humming all the while.

"And don't be afraid to ask me for help if you ever need it!" Jessica called out to Ness as she left. She sighed rather happily as she stared at the river some more. After a while, she got back up and headed to the hotel, not noticing Yukino and Rex where they slept as they were hidden among the trees. She went up to her room and fell asleep, now in a far better mood than she was earlier in the night.
