"It really was about Yukina was it." Noel said solemnly.
"You knew from the get go whenever we had a virtual chat back home. Welts, bumps and lumps... We were bullied like all hell. But as you said: 'Violence doesn't solve it. It just creates more violence'... Strange ideals for a mercenary mom."
"But I digress. One day... It happened. Why else would I sing Foster The People's 'Pumped Up Kicks' or even 'Break Stuff' by Limp Bizkit? But obviously some people just don't understand that, huh?"
"To me, it might have been a misunderstanding..."
"Misunderstanding or not, people in general cannot be trusted. The moment that they get close to you, they are more bound to hurt you. Annabelle's case was a prime showcase of that."
Noel got up and glared at her son. "So do you love her?"
"[sub]I do...[/sub] By God, I do... But I cannot allow myself to be hung by such an emotion. Wars, battles conflicts. They don't care about any of that. Everybody in that field becomes a target, regardless of their status before hand."
"So you're just going to throw away those ideals of your's huh? What... What happened to the boy that wanted to save universe? The one that believed his sword would be the one that would cleave a new tomorrow? The boy that loved and cared for all things?"
"... He died two years ago, when THAT happened." Kyosuke looked back at he mom, with piercing eyes. "Why do you cling on those ideals of your's like my father before me knowing that you killed in friendly fire? Many, in friendly fire?"
Noel looked down as she helplessly shrugged and sat down. "You told me enough. I see why you are jaded, why I 'hear' something else whenever I see you smile."
