Rex shakes his head. "Naw, I'm done for now."

Ness looks down at Echo and frowns a bit, thinking she had said something taboo again. "Hmm... You don't know...?" Ness' face brightened a bit as she took back her card. She gives Felina a smile. "No, you've been a great waitress to us, you deserved that tip."

"You don't know?" Echo asked Ness in return, sounding a bit aggravated.

Jessica sighed and rolled her eyes at Tao. "Well don't call me a 'Kaka' from now on. If you have to, use the word Feline."

looked at Savranth, glancing between him and Felina nervously, "Uh, now wouldn't be a good time to explain it, ask me later."

"You too." Jessica said sincerely to Felina as she accepted her credit card back and stuffed it into her coat. "Tell Ashley hello for me." She added as she walked out of the diner. She walked down along the crop field towards the hotel. As she noticed Kyouske and Noel doing what looked like wrestling out in front of the hotel, she ducked her head down and thought, Please don't notice me Please don't notice me Please don't notice me.

"But you're the Scaredy Kaka, meow." Tao objected to Jess as she followed her.

Noel and Kyosuke glanced over with a bored expression at Jessica before giving a shrug as the two stopped. Kyosuke decided to sit down. "Do you expect the people here you understand any of us?"

"Never did."

Noel nodded as she saw down with her son as Kyosuke handed the pack of cigarettes to Noel. Pushing them back, Noel said. "So you still have dreams?"

"Not exactly good ones."

"So why change it at all, then? Why not just create another book? Why would balance matter, in that case?" Savranth inquired. "If you don't create the worlds isn't that a bit elitist?"
"If you insist" He shrugged as Jessica left.

 

[Chungus]

The mountain range behind Loki and Rita, Fourside came within view. As the walked the road, they came across a large metal rod-like object sticking out of the ground. At the top, there was a satalite dish mounted. The rod itself was damaged, a large dent in it, as if something had struck it with great force. "What have we here?" Loki said to himself as he approached the rod.

"Alright then. Then that's 20 credits for in total." Felina stated as she accepted Rex's card and stuck it in the reader. After the transaction was complete, she gave the card back, then walked back behind the counter to prepare the food for Ness and Echo. "Will do. She'll be glad to hear you said hi." she said to Jessica, briefly looking over her shoulder, then back to the food.
"You know, listening to all these stories, I must say, It's the weirdest thing I've heard my entire life." she said to no one in particular as she worked.

Ness looks over at Echo, a bit concerned. "Sorry..." Of course, she's pissed I called her out on that.

Rex looks over toward Felina, hearing what she had said. "And what was that, miss?"

"Sorry..." Echo said as she picked at her food.

"No clue, whatever it is something hit it hard."

"Because it takes a long time to write a descriptive book as I said. If I can't do anything, then the descriptive book will either be altered or thrown in the fire. And there goes several months of writing. And... I don't know, but I feel like I've acquired an attachment for this world. The conflict here feels like a challenge and I want to see how much I can do before time is up. I don't want to see my civilization fall down. Naturally I don't want this one to fall down either. Even if it's just a world out of a whole infinity."

OOC: @Saltyk. It may be because I'm a tad tired, but I don't get the elitist part.

"That's not my name. It's Jessica. Jessica Broca. So either call me that or screw off." Jessica replied to Tao, clearly having lost her patience for dealing with her at this point.

Looking back over at the hotel, she noticed Noel and Kyouske were both still outside. I don't want to have to deal with that racist jerk...but what else am I supposed to do? She thought with a sigh. She stood over by the car Ness had rented and tried to think of something to do for the time being.

"That's what I mean. You would create a portal to a world, and then decide you don't like it and either look for a new one or destroy it. It doesn't sit right with me. Seems like you have less interest in the worlds and more in proving you can get to them. Even if it isn't true for you, the idea that your people view such portal with so little respect is unsettling." Savranth replies to Dal'Sheen.

OoC: @Slenn: Long story short, make a portal, decide you don't like it and look for another or destroy it. That seems like intentionally avoiding worlds that don't fit their concept of perfection.

Ness sighs slightly as she pulls out her PDA and starts scrolling through the overlays. "Echo, if you want to tell me something, I might be able to read your lips." Just need to find that one guide on it I have...

"Meow..." Tao said in a sad tone as she left Jessica and went into the inn to sleep.

Echo murrmered some of what Ness said, then left the dinner and walked back to the inn.

OOC: Gotta call it a day. Goodnight everyone.

"There is something engraved in the metal. Or perhaps stamped in it." Loki remarked, noticing text roughly positioned at the middle of the pole. ""Propperty of Professor Lucia", it says. Perhaps it is a thing to be looked in to. This Lucia could perhaps be persuaded to give us another reward." he said as he turned away form the object.

"All of these stories you've told here. They're wierd as can be. Comitting suicide to get a new body? Traveling through books? It almost sounds like the writing of someone with too much time on their hands." Felina answered Rex with a chuckle. Having finished preparing Ness' food, she walked over to her table and presented the plate and drink, then noticed Echo's mood. "Hey, are you alright there?" Almost imediately after she asked, Echo left. Guess not...

"You never did tell me what you experienced for Awakening..."

"You and I both know that we are forbidden to talk about that. Especially with these... gaijins" Kyosuke took a cigarette and started smoking again. Noel gave him a hard frown.

"I told you my story. What I had done to be broken. I know of your father's, Elizabeth's and the Boss's breaking point. You never told me. And don't call them 'gaijins'."

Kyosuke scowled as he said. "Really now? Really? That's what you got to say? You know of the Warden's oath to the Empire. Third line. 'Not once we shall be understood'. Do you really expect these people to care? It's not their problems, it's ours." Kyosuke bit down on his cigarette, and spat out the broken end.

"Deep down, I bet they all just hate us. Wish we hadn't come to this strange and bizarre land. No, who is anybody to judge us on what we really are, huh? I used to the quiet type. You know this: never speak until spoken to. And you know what that gave me, being the son of 'The One-Eyed Fox'? Nothing but overwhelming odds stacked on me. As Mike Shinoda once said, 'Everybody wants the next thing to be just like the first'. I'm not you! I'm not my dad! And they expect me to be some kind of protege? Well fuck that. I've had my scars... and paid well for that... paid alot to be honest..." Kyosuke's voice trailed off.

"This wouldn't happen to be about Yukina was it?" Kyosuke just looked away.

"Hmm... the only reason I took a reward for the last one is because that guy was such a waste of life, I wouldn't feel right for getting a reward just for reporting damaged property."

"You wouldn't be the first to be unsettled by the notion of these descriptive books. Sometimes I even am." He sighed. "However, it's not a deal of perfection. It's about stability. If our place needs resources like meat or food, so then we describe a world. A world could be unstable if not enough time and attention has been put into the book. A simple mistake in the book and it would make it an inferno instead of grassy plains that could be used for new homes. And even then a lot of people know that The Art of writing these worlds is dangerous and not easy. And plenty of people in our society are sometimes scared of it because of its power. I know I don't hold a lot of respect for my people being bigoted against slaves, but there's a reason why we call it The Art. I used to be a writer before being a Maintainer, it's part of the requirements of being a Maintainer. And I know how hard it is to put in a lot of time into making these books."
