The mongoose, due to it's lightning fast reflexes was able to avoid the stones, but got hit by much of the rest of the attacks. It jumped back and rolled, putting out any fire. Blood poured down the creature's face, but it didn't seem deterred as it swept it's tail at Rita to attempt to knock her down.

OoC: @Dot: I got an hour and a half. I'd rather not limit an event to so little time. Give me a winning lottery ticket and I can quit my job and do this kind of thing without time constraints. It's not a huge event, but I feel the lead up and ending shouldn't be rushed.

@Salt: Alright, then.

Rex nods toward Kyosuke, then adopts a confused expression. "Alright... Wait, did you just call that lady your mom?" ...And shit just got creepy quick. Ness happens to appear just as he says this. "Short story short, she's a lot older than she looks." Rex looks back toward Ness with an eyebrow raised. "Oh.... Ok...."

After that exchange, Ness revs her car up and brings it out front. "Alright... who's getting on again?"

"I've tried to mimic what the other students are doing, but I just can't do it." She shook her head. "Even the water magic from earlier, it wasn't until I learned to control my magic at all that I was able to do any of that." She said as she sat down with Jessica.

"I've tried nearly every type at least once, and I've only gotten to get the water and wind varients to do anything. I can't do anything with earth. Fire seems to be really dangerous. I accidentally figured out how my lightning magic works from a doorknob... The physical ones don't work the same although I'll admit I haven't worked on those as much, I don't understand how healing magic works, and shielding..." She said as it seemed like a thin layer of chocolate rolled over Sasha's hand like a glove, a very thin sphere of brown mist hovered around the covered hand. "Doesn't seem to even stop a tissue..."

Tao and Echo both get into the car, then fall asleep.

Noel gave a small glare at Rex before walking back into the hotel to watch over Charlotte and wait for Dal'Sheed to return.

"She's 47. Got a problem with that?" Kyosuke grunted at Rex before heading into the car.

 

[Furioso]

Rita was knocked down, but she quickly scrambled up to her feet, blood running down the side of her face where she had hit one of the rocks strewn about on her way down. "Blah blah blah!" This time out of nowhere a swirling tidal pool of water surrounded the general area the mongoose was in, swirling and dragging it down. Shallow enough for it to get air, but also shallow enough that every time it was pulled down it scraped against the ground. In addition she let loose another spell while the water ability was going on. Time to test my research, if this goes well the full spell could work. Timing it so that this spell would hit when the water one ended, a great orb of fire appeared floating in the air above the mongoose. The orb of fire was surrounded by rings made of ethereal runes. After it hovered for a second fire would begin to pour out of the bottom of the orb, making it like a waterfall of liquid flame.

Rex enters the car and shrugs toward Kyosuke. "Uh. No, I don't have a problem with it."

With everyone in, Ness gives a little wave to Noel as she drives off toward Port Letosh. Hopefully, those two get along long enough for this car not to turn into a battlefield...

"Hmph." Kyosuke closed his left eye (You know because he has an eyepatch over his right eye) as he was less or more uninterested in talking.

Noel gave a return wave back to Ness as she retreated back into the hotel room and fell asleep.

The mongoose scraped against the ground to regain it's footing as it's fur burned. It let out what could be described as a scream as singed flesh, and the smell of burning fur filled the air. In places the beast seemed to have no skin at all and if one looked close they could spot some nerves.

But, now, as much out of anger, as hunger the creature ran towards Rita slashing at her with a clawed foot.

"I think I get it now. You just mimic what you see the others do with your own magic." Jessica said with a nod. "It's pretty interesting that you can even do that. I'm pretty sure I couldn't do anything like that." She stood up and stretched a bit, having gotten tired of sitting down for the time being. "Anyway, my advice would be to just keep at it. You've only been here for, what, a week? And you can already do what you can do? That's pretty impressive where I come from."

With Kyosuke not talking, Rex simply leans back in his seat and starts to doze off.

Ness continues driving down toward Port Letosh.

 

[Furioso]

Lacking the speed casting of her overlimit mode, Rita couldn't react fast enough and she was knocked back by the claws, giving her deep gashes in her side. With pained grunts she started to channel an ability. "...Begone...I-I...Ivy ...Rush!" Underneath the mongoose a series of whip-like ivy vines shot up from the ground, attempting to entangle it. If entangled, large, approximately 1 foot long spikes would extend out from the ivy into whatever it had entangled. Rita hoped it would have the element of surprise on her side.

 

[Saltyk]

The ivy entangled the mongoose, as it screamed and thrashed. The ivy restricted it's movement, but it tried to move towards her, almost crawling, more than anything. It's blood pooled on the ground as the creature struggled even at this point.

 

[Furioso]

"D-damn you... just die!" said Rita as she crawled back a bit before starting another spell. "C-come forth, O avaricious netherworld... and... crush the... evil before me... Negative Gate!" said Rita in a pained voice due to her injuries. As the spell finished a black void would appear near the mongoose, and draw it into itself with a powerful force in an attempt to crush its bones.

Sasha sat there for a moment, not entirely sure what to say to such a warm complement. "I don't know what to say... Thank you." She said, and even under her hood, Jessica would still be able to see that Sasha was blushing from this. "I have to ask, are you still trying to figure out what happened with that... anomaly?" She asked, standing up with Jessica.

 

[Saltyk]

The mongoose lets out a scream as the barely mobile creature's bones and organs break and crush. It collapses to the ground with a great thud. It's burning fur and flesh a rather strong scent.

[hr]

Miles away from Rita....

A woman stands, placing a rifle on her back. "An ugly fight with an ugly creature..." She said, and then placed a finger to her ear.
"Bellerophon, do you read? Tell Astasis that Soto's pets have been dealt with. Tell him next time to eliminate them rather than release them. They did a lot of damage to Lucia's sensors. Then again, he may like that."
There's a brief pause as she seems to be listening to a person, on the line.
"Some girl got to them first. Seems to be one of the ones we've heard about. I was about to put a shot in their skulls, but I thought a little reconnaissance was wise. Should I put a shot in hers?"
..................
"Her? Ugly. Like the others. They show no real skill. Nothing compared to an officer of Legaia or Xiphatia."
..................
"Understood. I'll return to base. Medea, out."
She turns back towards Rita and smirks.
"Pray you see me next time we meet, girl. Otherwise, it'll be an ugly end for you."

OoC: Alright, I'm going to bed. Rex will pay for hotel/inn rooms once the group makes it to the post.

"Ah, don't mention it." Jessica replied to Sasha with a smile and a chuckle. When Sasha brought up the subject of the Anomaly, her mood turned noticeably dour. "Yeah, but so far I've made barely any progress worth noting. I've got an idea of what might be causing it, but at the moment it seems to be practically impossible for me to test if it's true or not."

 

[Furioso]

Sighing, Rita reached into her robes and pulled out what looked to be a brightly yellow colored blob like jelly thing. She ate it, and the majority of her wounds healed. "Ugh... the creatures here are faster than the ones back home..." she walked up to the dead mongoose and snake "...Now, what did Yuri do that one time with the Rybgaros... he was able to get the horn, I should be able to use the same method to get the claw..." after some time, she was able to extract a claw from the mongoose, and using that claw, a fang from the dead snake, which she put in a bag and began heading back to Fourside.


The hawk was still on its perch, listening to the various hustle and bustle in Winterhorn

"I'm sorry to hear that..." She said, noticing Jessica's sour mood. "I know I'm not the smartest with that science stuff, but... Is there anything I can help with..?"
