"I probably could. It depends what the questions are." the man replied.

"H-How'd you do that?" Hillary asked when she noticed Anik come back from getting her boots. "Anik Anik! Winona brought Emily here with some light... hammer... thing! It was really cool."

Femesh Daer - Day 4 - 5:20

"What? But I did not sense her, so she could not have been here ... I think?" Anik said, confused.

<color=green>"It's only an image of her. But I'm confused... 'sensing'? What do you mean by that?"

"An image? That's not very useful." Anik said, still confused, but in another way. "Well, EMily knows already, so I guess I can explain it to you too ... I can sense the hearts of people, and identify them by this."

"Well it was like she was there, but small and kinda shiny." Hillary described, using a bunch of hand gestures that would mean nothing to Anik, but she was trying really hard. "And she popped out of Winona's hammer, and said some stuff, and then she went back into the hammer."

<color=green>"Ah, I see." She said towards Anik.

<color=green>"EMily is not present within the hammer. EMily is transmitting data from kilometers away, from her own machine. The sound and light coming from her is gathered by her own machine, and transmitted wirelessly through radio waves to my hammer. The hammer is a special machine that can pick up radio waves and translate their information back into sound and light."

Femesh Daer - Day 4 - 5:18

"Well, to begin with, the city's name. That, and that of "Mathan Daer"", Timea began. She momentarily trailed off as she heard Hillary speak excitedly, and turned her head to glance over her shoulder, but then looked back to the man. "These names sound like no other I've heard in Calibeth, which makes me think they were from before the conquest. Am I correct in thinking such?"

"That... sounds really complicated..." Hillary said, her excitement dampened as she had very little concepts of most of what Winona had told her. It was also worth noting that Hillary looked about 7ish.

Noticing that Hillary was probably far younger than what she had expected, Winona tried to simplify things down for both Beak and Hillary.
<color=green>"EMily's doohicky sends an image of her through the air to my doohicky. My doohicky then shows that image of EMily. Radio is a word for the way the image is sent through the air."

Femesh Daer - Day 4 - 5:21

"That seems like a very useful kind of magic." Anik stated factually.

<color=green>"Well, 'magic' is only relative. But yes, it is pretty dang useful. Radio is a cheap and easy way to send information as well as sensing objects from far away." She said to Anik, nodding.

<color=green>"It's slang for 'thing'." She said to Beak.

"They are pre-conquest cities, but even if they weren't they'd still have these names. The main reason the names sound different is that they're in our language." the man explained.

"Ya, it's like thingy." Hillary suggested her own word. "But I get it now, it's like if you yelled at someone really really really loud from far away." Hillary added, feeling like she understood the concept of the radio.

Winona tilted her head in thought, but then nodded her head.
<color=green>"In most ways, yes. The farther away something is, the 'louder' the radio has to be in order to hear it clearly. And if something is thick enough, the radio can't send information through it. Much in the same way a wall gets in the way of sound. Radio also has the advantage of sending information far more quickly than sound and much farther away."
