Topaz was still near EMily (I think), and noticed her watching Bruce and Aquamarine argue. "Aqua is quite the charmer, huh?"
Topaz looked at Jane with a very confused look on his face. "'High on herself'? Like her gem on her body or... wha?"
"Ohhhh. Well, yeah. We do have a lot of advantages over you fleshy things. But I think you're fun, even if you aren't quite as awesome as us."
"Well, our destination is a pirate ship, which is moving. So we can't really say." the sailor replied. "We're getting close to the region the pirates have been working in, though."
As the ship had been sailing for a while now, the sun was high overhead. Anyone observing it, however, may notice that it's path across the sky had gradually changed from moving northwest to moving due east.

"My race? You're trusting me to tell you the truth? Hmm... What if I told you that we're magical beings with bodies made of solid light with the exception of our gemstones, which are just shiny rocks?"
"I've been around a plethora of extraterrestrials that are non-human and are completely unfamiliar in every way. I've seen a race of militaristic six legged furry insect-like creatures. Hardy bunch they are." She took a beat. "What do Gems do for a living?"
"Uhh... it depends. Used to be we all worked in some way- fighting usually but also science, or something else equally boring- to conquer other planets and syphon the life out of them to make more Gems, leaving dead planets in our wake. But y'know, things changed when we found Earth."
"There's nothing that notable about the region." the sailor replied. "Nice view of the southern islands, though."
"Oh, we live forever. Unless something shatters our gemstone, that is." Topaz explained to EMily, tapping the gem on his wrist. "When we came to Earth, a gem with a lot of power and influence fell in love with the life on Earth, and so we had a very long civil war that resulted in many destroyed gems and I still don't even know if we won or not because we got stranded on another planet 5000 years ago, then somehow ended up here yesterday! Isn't it just fantastic?!" As he talked he seemed to become louder and more energetic, laughing hysterically after he finished.
A few seconds later, he abruptly stopped laughing. "Sorry, I just like to cover up my overwhelming sadness with forced smiles and laughing. Can we change the subject, pretty please? Like talking about how boring science is or something?"

"Kaisir is a chain of ten islands. We set off from the main island, in the centre. The pirates mostly operate around the southern islands."
Her eyes widened as she didn't know if she was meant to be saddened by the story or horrified from the laughter.
"Take it easy, you're fine. Take a deep breath. Just keep in mind that comparing Gems to Humans will be like comparing apples to oranges. A shark is an excellent hunter in the ocean, but it can't do anything on land where lions are. And those are quite good hunters."
