Ella shook her head, replying; "It was two atom bombs that were dropped, no more has ever been used in war. Since then, the world powers have built up huge arsenals of nuclear missiles. Enough to practically destroy human civilization, if they were used. It isn't the threat of one bomb that stops war, but the mutually assured destruction that would follow a war between two superpowers. Nobody has dared pull the trigger, since you can't totally destroy the enemy capability to retaliate."

Evening​

After talking between them for a bit, Green, Black and Red went back to the portal room and Krovis.

Green explained the situation to Krovis. He nodded, then went to a guard: "You will tell my confidants when the prime minister would speak with me. They will notify me."

He took the arm of the silent, modest, girl, then went back through the portal with her.

Blue kept around near the portal, and, after a bit of time of pure boredom, decided to ask a guard: "Hey, want to have some fun?"

Green, Black and Red went back into the hallway and decided to look around, each on their own.

"Irrad weapons?" Dalalhar doesn't get it. Born thousands of years after nuclear fire scorched terra in the middle of the dark age of technology, all he knew of radiation was its use as weapons by the mechanicum and destroyer corps of any legion that used the destroyers. Nuclear combustion doesn't exist in Dalahars mind, the path the imperium took diverged away from nuclear annihilation after it had occurred. "I am confused I must admit" he said with a shake of his head "But then this is but one planet, shared by government factions and sociable denominations. The threat of destruction st such a primitive stage is indeed threatening. Atomic weapons haven't been used by humanity for tens of thousands of years, at least not a scale such as you describe. The nature of their lingering destruction unfit for the great crusade. If a world was to be resettled after conquest of couldn't be an atomic hell hole like old terra." He paused for a second "but what I struggle with is why nobody has siezed the initiative? Surely no one here would fire such weapons on their only world. A conventional army could grind all opposition to dust while empty threats of destruction are thrown at them"

 

[Kirke]

"There were a few close calls with nuclear weapons during the cold war, incidents that nearly sparked a third world war. But as to why nobody has tried to conquer all other nations? Well, last time somebody did, it caused a global war that ravaged a continent and cost seventy million lives. Peaceful co-existence is better for everyone involved." - Ella replied, surprised that Dalahar did not know more about nuclear weapons.

The guard sighed, then said, "What have you got in mind?"

Montreal, Portal Station. Evening. March 3rd.​

As Black and Green returned to where Krovis was waiting, spy bot #2 followed after them. After recording Green relaying the information to Krovis, the bot that had stayed in the portal room followed after them, but upon the two moving through the portal, it moved back to the portal room, and followed Blue.

The second spy bot followed after the rest of the Circle, and specifically following Black, when the three split up.

"A costly war. Fought in hundreds like it." He said with a nod "Wars on such a scale are common to me, if I seem unphased it is out of familiarity rather than apathy. It's good you havnt witnessed the things I have."

Blue sighed as well, mocking the guard.
"Whatever you want, really! I could make your head explode from all the possibilities.

Also, I am bored. So tell me what you can do here, play cards or something. When does your shift end? Could also do something after that."

"We can do pretty much anything that doesn't break shit, or make us leave the room, or get drunk." the guard replied. "Probably got some cards somewhere. And my shift still have a few hours left."

"Then get these cards.
I'm on guard shift, too. I hate it."

Port, Evening March 3rd

One of the guards got up and left the room, and would be gone for a couple of minutes before returning with a deck of cards and a few cups of coffee.

While he was gone, another asked, "So, what's your home universe like? I'm assuming if your Emperor plans to speak with the Prime Minister, he wants a portal set up to connect our worlds, so I guess it would be good to know who we'll be working with."

 

[Silence]

Blue sat herself down near the guards.
"Ah, my home universe is pretty fun. There are those in power, those who use magic, and the rest of the people.
We don't have these fancy guns you have, but something similar started appearing.

Sadly, we don't have many magic users. Could you imagine all these colours, if we made a war between magic?
It would look great.
Oh ... and we have a kingdom. Well, empire now. I guess you wanted to know that as well. Any more questions?"

She took a cup of coffee when it was offered to her, and sipped on it, waiting for the card game to be set up.

Port, Evening March 3rd

"How does your magic work?" the guard asked, while the other guard began dealing cards for blackjack. That guard would also explain the basic rules once everything was prepared.

 

[Kirke]

"Well, then you understand why we're trying our damnedest to avoid another one. Particularly with the threat of nukes."

 

[Vakra jal]

"It pains me to see humanity divided here, when so much conquest United if where I am from. Then when the rebellion began it was to give mankind true direction under the true gods" he said

 

[Silence]

"We are born with the ability to draw mana from different sources, and can use it accordingly." Blue said shortly. "Something like this." She held her hand over the coffee, and blue, glowing, energy seemed to go from it into her hand.
The first two or three rounds of blackjack went normally, until Blue suddenly seemed to start winning more and more.

Black, in the meanwhile, searched for a map of Montreal. Red walked out of the station already, and looked around there. Green joined Black again after a while of looking around.

"Is he a diplomat?"

"Acting at night would restrict what I could do somewhat, and make it difficult to socialise. A woman of my standing has to be seen and heard by others."

Port, Evening March 3rd

"So, I guess you get mana from liquids?" the guard.
When Blue started to win more often, a different guard frowned at her and said, "I hope you're not using magic to win."

Black would be able to find a map of Montreal in the entrance area, which marked out areas including the port, Mont Royal and various districts.

Outside, Red and Green would find themselves near the St. Lawrence River, with it behind them and the city in front of them. The area around the port was less built up, though there was a bridge with a railway line on it nearby.
