City of Waltham Police Department, Massachusetts. Afternoon. March 4th.​

"You've got about the long and short of it", Stravich stated, turning a corner, and opening a door, closing it once Haussman walked through. In rectangular the room were two tables, with a collection of empty wooden chairs behind them, these facing a pinboard, with a map of the city pinned on it. The location of known rifts were mark by X-es, in red marker.

"So far, there are 34 confirmed anomalies. Inactive portals, rifts, ghosts, we're not sure what they are, and really aren't equipped to find out, either", Stravich began explaining, walking to the pinboard. "The first one appeared here, on 264 Winter Street. We've got the report of this two days ago, at around 10 PM.

The next bunch, came here; One on 385 Winter Street, five on Gregory Street, and three at Falconer Circle. Reports of these came in in about the same time frame, between five and six PM. That was early in the morning."

"And a few hours ago, 19 were spotted here... ." Stravich then named the location of the newest rifts, along with the time they were reported in. "... Five more were found in the woods along Glen Road. We don't know if they appeared today, or just weren't discovered before now."

After, Stravich turned to Haussman. "As far as we can tell, the anomalies are mostly spreading southwards. So far, all of them haven't been doing anything, but we're hoping you could help us get rid of them, in case that changes."

Streets of Montreal - March 4th, Just after noon​

"Somewhere with good, cheap food. I think there's a hot dog stand up ahead. Alright, it's not particularly good, but it's cheap and quick." - Ella said, still fuming. She looked up at Dalahar; "Do you want one? I know you don't have to eat often, but as far as I know you haven't eaten anything since you came here."

Haussman listened silently, then hummed. "I've got some specialised equipment in the trunk that might give us some more info on what these anomalies are. How about we drive out to the newest one and have a look?"

Bordeaux Prison, March 4th

Yauna stared at the crows and, once she had determined they were indeed magical, raised a hand and pointed at one of the crows. A burst of golden light erupted from her fingertip at the bird and, unless it moved, a hole would be blasted through it.

"I don't feel like eating" he said "I can go without it" he lied. There was a dark truth in the past of all Gal Vorbak who journeyed through the warp with Argel Tal. All were rent open and evicerated by their daemon guide only to wake up in one piece, as the first possessed. Despite their miraculous recovery their journey out of the warp was long, very long. Not every astartes of the Serrates Sun came back.

Streets of Montreal - March 4th, Just after noon
Ella looked at Dalahar, and eventually said; "If you say so." - In a tone that hinted that she didn't believe him. She then bought a hot dog for herself, and the two spent the rest of the day primarily walking about. When dinner-time approached, they returned to the hotel. After eating dinner, and writing up a report on the day's events, Ella sat outside to accompany Dalahar.

"I've got my hands full doing paperwork, I'm afraid. But I'll radio a cruiser in the area to come along", Stravich answered, moving back to the door, and holding it open for Haussman. "Want a coffee, in the meantime?"

Since Candace refused to respond to her, Nina just waited quietly until everyone was done eating, then left and headed back to the hotel.

Without being aware of much going on in the city, Nina spent the entire night awake and watching whatever news shows would still be playing on television.

Yet more still hotel employees would be feeling woozy and lightheaded over this night as well. By this point some of the overnight staff would start calling in sick, and those that weren't were all slow and short of temper.

March 4th

Since nobody wanted to bring the child to a prison or to deal with inter-dimensional politics, Nina spent the entire day sleeping.

 

[Vakra jal]

"How long until I don't need an escort for my every step?" Dalahar asked, bringing up his issue with the ETR squad earlier

 

[Silence]

The bird now had a hole in it. It did not seem bothered by it.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 4th, 2025

Around Midnight​

Three people were nearing Dalahar, trying to keep out of sight. They looked around, if there were any people accompanying Dalahar, or if civilians were in proximity.

Some time earlier, the zombies in the woods of Mont Royal had started movement in the same direction, not stopping, not killing anyone, but still upsetting civilians throught their sheer presence, and mass.

 

[Slenn]

"Most certainly, Kuki. It looks like Ella and Dalahar went elsewhere. I don't know where Candace is." She looked around for Raz. "Hey Raz? You want to join us for a while? We're gonna wander around for a bit to gather opinions for travel."

 

[Chungus]

Port exterior, Pointe-Saint Charles, Montreal. Late morning. March 4th.​

"I wonder what was up with that. Ella looked like she was in a hurry"

, Kuki thought aloud. While Ella approached Raz, Kuki looked between the two of them.

"Oh! If the three of us go and search for some empty space, you two could give me a demonstration of your abilities. We're more or less scattered, now, so this could be a good way to pass the time, until everyone's back at the hotel"

, Kuki suggested.

Outside the hotel, Montreal - March 4th, 23:30​

"I'm not sure, honestly. But I can't imagine it'll be more than a few weeks, so long as everything goes fine." She yawned, and then said; "I should get some shut-eye. I'll keep my radio on though. If anything happens, I'll be right out. Good night." - With that, she stood up and headed inside. She went to her room and removed her armour, but kept the radio in her bed as she drifted off.

Yauna looked at the bird, eyebrow raised, then turned away from it and began walking away from the prison. This would, eventually, lead to her reaching the station as well.

Montreal, Around Midnight, March 4th

Dalahar would, intermittently, feel as though he was being watched by some external force. If he tried to, he would potentially be able to shrug this feeling off.

He kept his peace. A few weeks wasn't long. He bid her goodnight and faced outside.

Sneaking up on an alert astartes was almost impossible. Between their multiple detection systems such as autosenses and augury scanners mounted inside their helmets and their genetically modified senses themselves were far sharper than any humans. Dalahar however hasn't been paying much attention to his autosenses and isn't too alert. Attributing all sounds he hears to the natives shuffling about their daily lives believing it a waste of energy to pursue anything unless it was clearly suspicious. He felt different this now however as if something was actually watching him.

It was too late to start a patrol circuit as he normally did. In the middle of the night he would just stand there and converse with Kyrys, who was more active in the night or compile battle simulations to pass the time.

He looked from the the left side of the street to the right, grunting gruffly

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 4th, 2025

Around Midnight​

Suddenly there seemed to be growing grass and plants rapidly around and under the area Dalahar stood in, covering the asphalt.

He could see the familiar portal to his homeworld right in front of him.

Some bright green flash of light went from somewhere onto Dalahar, weakening him, mainly making him having to cough heavily.

"Step through, and no harm will come to you."

 

[Slenn]

"I'm sure we could find someplace." She nodded.

 

[Vakra jal]

"Who's there!" He roared before spluttering and coughing. He drew the bolt pistol off of his hip and held it ready, scanning his surroundings. Auguries and autosenses could detect spikes of light, sounds, energy signatures but nothing unmapped by the imperium. Sorcery not of the warp is undetectable to Dalahar. "You don't know me if you threaten m" he growled after coughing some more

City of Waltham Police Department, Massachusetts. Afternoon. March 4th​

Stravich gave Haussman a nod, and directed him to the break room, telling him to help himself. After, Stravich closed the door of the boardroom, and went to radio the cruiser. Once he was done, Stravich went to Haussman, and informed him that a unit would arrive to take him to the nearest rift site shortly, then headed to his office.

A little over six minutes later, a cop car stopped at the station. A uniformed officer stepped out, and entered the precinct, looking for Haussman. Finding him, the officer looked to Haussman's arm, then approached. "Agent Haussman?" they asked.

Pointe-Saint Charles, Montreal. Near Midnight. March 4th.​

Hovering in the air, the Watcher in the area had their sights set on the hotel the group stayed at, filming with a nightvision camera, now that the sun was down. It zoomed in on Dalahar as flora grew around him, then focusing on the portal that opened, and finally, zooming out a little to get a shot of both.

Hotel room, Pointe-Saint Charles, Montreal. Near Midnight. March 4th.​

In Anik's room, Kuki was under the bed, and had been sleeping since 11 Pm. With their collar off, they were deaf, and so would remain sleeping, until disturbed.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 4th, 2025

Around Midnight​

Dalahar would at least be able to read the life signatures of Red, Green and Black.

"We have to do this. I would have liked to meet you under different circumstances." Black called.

Suddenly, a whirl of fire surrounded Dalahar, cutting him off from buildings and people around him. He could feel the heat, even if he had a high resistance against it.

Tendrils grew out of the plants under him, trying to surround his legs, and bring him out of balance.

Another green, sickly, light, seemed to go from Dalahar to Black, leeching out his life-force, very slowly (as he had a lot), but consistently. It would make him weaker over time, if he was not able to interrupt it.
