Sarah actually sighed a breath of relief. This was proof that Zev was not hitting on her.

Johannesburg, South Africa​

With the enemy now among them, the South Africans began to change strategies. They pulled out of the streets, retreating into the houses in order to make the airborne Scath less of a threat. They were no longer as aggressive, instead waiting until they saw a chance to fire RPGs at landed Scath who weren't looking at them. Those who did not have heavy weapons instead began throwing grenades. This battle had turned from simply repelling the enemy to just holding the city, preferably bogging down the enemy in deadly close-quarters combat.

The jet fighters fired their missiles as soon as they got lock-ons, then pulled back and headed north. They'd been warned that the enemy was far more agile in the air, and so their only real choice were hit & run attacks to try and thin their numbers while using their superb speed to stay out of dogfighting range.

The XPOL agent did not notice Ptaak gunning for him, as his eyes were overflowing with tears and he simply kept firing an emerald beam of light at the lead Scath, who acted as bait.

The reinforcements were now ordered to fall back and head south-east. The high-command had decided that a strike against the portal was needed, as the ETR squad had to fall back in order to avoid destruction. The South Africans were gathering a larger force, one comprised of more experienced men than the reserve units in Johannesburg. And in an open field, they would need every AA-gun that could be mustered in order to combat the flying menace.

XPOL were also preparing themselves for war, with back-up being called in from both the rest of Africa, and South America. Seven ETR squads were en-route, along with the fifty XPOL agents stationed in the region. All except one, the lone agent stationed in Johannesburg. This would be the largest field force XPOL had ever mustered, with nearly a hundred officers in total.

Otherworld, Forest​

After landing, the bounty hunter made sure to disguise her ship as best she could. She then pulled her cloak on again. It wasn't a perfect disguise, but it'd have to do. She began to head towards the city.

Earth, Worldwide​

By now, word of the attack had spread across the globe. There was shaky footage from mobile phones of fighting being posted on social media, and news sites worldwide were publishing articles about it.

The 3 woman raised their pistols in unison. With orders to leave no witnesses they sprung into action when confronted.

Johanussburg
The Scath of the expeditionary force under Ptaak were the best of the Scath militairy. The only single Scath more proficient was the Castellan and the Knights of the orders. Having suppressed the forces in the city and with reinforcements turning back Ptaak commited his reserves, a full war wing of the order of Yok. His own units would begin regrouping and moving away from the city to rearm. A lot of the wounded Scath would be carried away by their own, the Scath moving dedicating the majority of their force to do so. Each Y'rek'd a prominent and important militairy asset. Any Scath that were or appeared to be dead were also recovered. Scath with crippled or wounded wings had gathered together to form a rear guard to perform a fighting retreat away from the city. The recon I units ceased their observer role and instead took up firing positions with their longer range weapons mounted on their backs. Limited ammo prevented them from engaging until now. The Yok war wing swiftly approached to take over the fight.

Seeing the women immediately begin acting aggressively, the taller of the pair quickly took cover behind a nearby tree. [color=9f2089]"It's still not too late to just talk about this."[/color] She called out. Nevertheless she pulled her scabbard off of her belt and held it at the ready in her left hand.

The shorter one just started hopping in place, alternating between pushing off with her left foot and right foot.

"C'mon, gimme an excuse."

Johannesburg​

Retrieving the dead and wounded would not turn out to be an easy task, as those who landed quickly found themselves under grenade and RPG fire from the buildings. At such close range, some even took pot-shots with small arms at apparent weaknesses in the Scath's armour.

The XPOL agent finally took cover, and sent another transmission; "This will not end well, not for any of us. Please, fall back and let us avoid further bloodshed. We never gave the order to fire, somebody must've set us up..."

The bounty hunter would, once out of the forest, see a road leading into the city, which was surrounded by walls. ne or two carts, pulled by oxens, and guided by peasants, were on the road.

At the city gate, quabbling was heard. Apparently a peasant had trouble being let into the city for some reason. As the bounty hunter got closer, she would get stopped by guards as well. "Stop. State your business."

To break the awkward silence once again, Sarah said: [color=99d039]"It's best if we get to the hotel now. They would probably not be too happy if we got there on short notice."[/color]

She pulled out her mobile phone, to use the navigation app. But before she got there, she stopped and she stared on the screen.
[color=99d039]"Holy shit."[/color] she finally said. [color=99d039]"South Africa is under attack by aliens."[/color]

Surprising an amount of the members of parliament, the prime minister promised militaristic help for South Africa without consulting them first, getting them into a diplomatic dilemma.

The Y'rek'd weren't defenceless as they pulled back, their purpose in battle complete. Rippling cover fire would shred the attackers often before they could line an accurate shot. The heavy caliber fire tearing though any who dare expose themselves. The enemy bloodied, dispersed and robbed of a great deal of specialised weapons, vehicles and officers. The Y'rek'd fought a precise and debilitating battle. "This is no longer our operation." Ptaak radioed. "I'm not applicable to decide when a battle ends. Only when it begins"
With this The Yok war wing rapidly descended upon the city. The majority of this second wave were Aspirants, young Scath wearing half harnesses of metal to cover a shoulder and a part of their underbelly, a retractable blade mounted on the right arm. Their individuality represented by the fact each bore their scales natural colours. These Scath were lightening quick and able to enter buildings, often in wings of 12-15 at a time to engage the Hrem up close with reckless abandon. The Errants made up the leadership of the Yok wing, each having just reached adulthood after spending years as an aspirant. They wielded far longer blades mounted on their arms and their tails had scythes and clubs fashioned around them. They wore heavy full harnesses of metal that covered most of their body, their head and horns framed by a web of black iron thorns. None of these Scath wore helmets like the Y'rek'd and were free to expel the explosively flammable phlegm that Scath generated. Liquid fire perfect for clearing out the buildings. Finally one of the Knights of Scathis was present. In full borouque and ancient war plate that covered all of his body in jagged metal. His silhouette visible in the distance as he had yet to engage.
