Shana stood up, having paid the bill while watching the commotion, not sure what to do.

"Perhaps we should take this outside." She said, trying to keep as cool as a cucumber. She was still somewhat shaky. "Let's not make this a literal fire pit."

"Agreed." Candace said, also standing, having finished her meal a while ago.

The man let out a final yell, before storming out of the restaurant, despite the staff trying to tell him he hadn't paid.

"Thank you, ma'am. We'll look into him, and we'll handle the autopsy as well." the officer replied.

 

[Furioso]

Yuri looked around, but did not see the creature. "Sure, I can come with." said Yuri as the angry man stormed off. "This area is a little tense anyways. Where are we headed?"

 

[Slenn]

Shana marched her way to the outside, then waiting on the others.

 

[Silence]

"Just to the next drug store, it is just a few steps." Anik said, as she began walking. "I'm buying some weed. And a phone, so I can contact someone back at the port. Even though I don't really like the technology, I can't deny how useful this one is."

Candace followed Shana outside. "What happened to him?" she asked the wolf girl.

 

[Furioso]

Yuri followed along Anik. "Oh boy, I bet I'm going to have to get used to hearing about unfamiliar things while I'm here. I assume the weeds you're talking about aren't the weeds I'm thinking of, and what's a phone?" asked Yuri.

 

[Slenn]

"Your guess is as good as mine. As far as I can tell, this person might be mentally unstable. And then he lit himself on fire. I don't know what else there is to observe." She shrugged.

 

[Silence]

"Trust me, when I first came into a world like this, it was much, much worse. Especially because ... well, you can see.

Yes, weed is just one of many names for a certain plant you can smoke, and which can make you quite relaxed. You could try some, after I have bought and prepared it.
And a phone is a device to talk to people over long distances. Kind of like telepathy, if you know that, only not magic, everyone can use them." Anik explained.

As the store was pretty close, they entered it already. Anik walked to the place where she heard the checkstand, and asked a person to accompany them and give Anik what she wanted, because she wouldn't be able to find everything on her own.

"Was that magic?"

"Thanks but no thanks, I'm not much of a smoker. The phone sounds pretty handy though. Anyways, you've been to more than one world? That's kind of wild, how did that go?" said Yuri as he looked around at the goods in the store.

 

[Slenn]

"As far as I know, he could've been genetically engineered like me. I really can't say, since magic seems to be completely subjective as I've found out. And I don't have the proper skills or equipment to know for sure. I'm sure if we pumped him for information, we could find out somehow."

"He did not seem like he wanted to talk..."

The store was a pretty common drug store, stocking healthcare, make-up, hygiene and food articles. Maybe it had a little bit of stuff from other worlds too?

"Yes. Well, the first time was by accident. A portal opened and I ... well, didn't even realize I had gone through until it was too late.
Then I met some other travelers, and in the end, wanted to find out how a world with more technology is like. I'm ... not too fond of it.
I arrived here because I was looking for ways to travel worlds again. I just took to much of the stuff making it possible, ending in me being here completely, instead of being here just a few hours. Now I need to wait for my tribe to contact and take me back, again."

As Anik knew exactly what she wanted, they went through the store pretty fast. Anik got a small supply of marihuana, matches, and some paper to roll it in. She also got an old-fashioned phone with number keys and a prepaid sim card.
After getting accessability enabled by the employee, they walked back to the checkstand.

 

[Slenn]

"Well, we have to interact with him... somehow. Otherwise we won't be able to ask anything about him."

She sniffed.
"I guess I could try and track down his scent."

 

[Furioso]

"Wow, you're pretty adventurous. How did you and your tribe even figure out how to do all that?" asked Yuri, briefly stopping to look at a display of ring-pops, almost mistaking them for blastia when seen out of the corner of his eye.

"If you can track him, lead the way." Candace agreed.

"Well ... this journey is one of the first I prepared with my tribe. It's also why I made the mistake of taking too much.
I just traveled worlds on purpose once before, and there I got help from other travelers.

But I am ... searching someone on another world, I want to visit her. And for that, I searched for ways to travel with my tribe. Finally, we found an actual plant that could help us achieve it.
It's an ongoing process, however. And I needed to bring in the experience I had from my other journeys."

Anik paid for the things she bought, then went outside again, unless Yuri wanted to look at some more things, maybe ask about them.

Yuri headed back out with Anik. "I guess that kind of thing isn't something you can test, huh? But did a plant seriously let you travel to another world? I can't imagine what kind of plant would be able to do that. As for you're friend, I'm sure you'll find her. I would say having the ability to go to other worlds gives you an edge most people wouldn't have."
