Ella glared at the man who insulted Anik, but restrained herself from responding. She did however, tell Anik; "Y'know, littering is technically a crime..." She then looked at Kuki, still confused about the nature of the rodent; "I've never heard of anyone being bursting into flames like this before today, and the poor man died by being burnt to a crisp and practically chainsawed. It was not pretty."

Writing down the information that Shana gave her, Ella sighed. "That isn't much to go on, I'm afraid. Without the rest of the licence plate, this description might apply to thousands of cars." She looked up and around at the various people; "If you want, we could try and track him down. You don't have to, though, and I'll stay with you guys regardless. That is my assignment, after all."

 

[Gearhead mk2]

"Excuse me, what was that sir?" Candace called after the French speaking man.

 

[ShindoL Shill]

The man didn't respond to Candace, probably because he couldn't understand English but also likely because he didn't really care.

"How rude..." Candace said, murmuring to herself but loud enough for the man to hear.

 

[Slenn]

"I know his scent at least." She shrugged. "I can keep a spare nose ready. I am part wolf after all."

"Did you get a smell of him?" Candace asked Shara.

 

[Silence]

A few seconds after she was insulted, Anik turned towards the man, and called after him: "C'est quoi ton probl?me, connard?!" Being scolded by Ella however, she took a few breaths, then said, more calm: "Sorry ... where do I put the stuff, then?"

While Kuki had a translator, French wasn't a language that was in the translator's databank, making the insult to Anik from the passer-by, and Anik's reaction, sound like gibberish to them.

They were surprised to hear Ella say the first Hothead had been proper Buttshredded, not having expected this answer. Between this, and Ella assigned to accompany the group, they began wondering how hostile the world was.

"So, this first case was harmed by the fire? Maybe the resistance against the fire is only present in the early stages of whatever this is... "

, they mused, thinking aloud, then going over things more, in silence.

"I don't suppose I would be allowed to see the cadaver of the first victim?"

Kuki asked, a moment after thinking. They didn't expect the answer to be in the positive, but thought it was worth a try.

Ella nodded to Shana, telling her lead the way. She then glanced to Anik and said; "In an ash-tray or ash-stand. I can see one not too far away, I'll drop it off on the way." She walked over to pick up the joint Anik had dropped, and told Kuki; "I've got a recording of it, but the corpse has probably been moved by now. I'll show you the recording on the way."

"I won't be able to get a lot out of just a recording, but I might as well take a look"

, Kuki commented, then paused.

"Oh! Unrelated, but you mentioned an "anomaly" when asking what brought us here, right? So is interdimensional travel a rarity, here?"

When Ed spoke, Kuki looked from Ella, to him. They had no idea what Ed meant by 'buttshredded', initially, but pieced two and two together, with earlier statements.

"... I don't really, but at the same time, I do. I might learn a lot from it, and it could be helpful!"

Kuki explained.

"I'm not a rodent, though, metal-man friend."

 

[Silence]

Anik wrinkled her nose. "Thank whatever that they corpse was moved, the fuming man smelled bad enough."

She thought a bit, then said: "It's so cuuuute!" when Ed spoke with Kuki, barely holding herself back from booping Kuki's snoot.

Dalahar places a hand on his head.
ready yourself skin-flesh. We must walk as one once more. I have something to show you
Dalahar didn't like how the daemons cohesion seemed to be improving.
"Sorry to interrupt" he said, breaking his silence. "It's coming again, not aggressively though. I must leave, just in case. I have to get away."
He switched his vox channel on, the line he had to the response team at the port. "Think the daemon is coming through again. Be ready just in case" he voxed. He hoped they had made some pregress on his armour, in the worst case scenario should he need to be brought down.

Any tests performed on the armour would prove it is immensely durable to heat, blunt force, armour piercing, electromagnetics and corrosion. However it is far from indestructible and can be worn down by extensive and concentrated attack. High powered cutting lasers, advanced energy weapons and high end heavy caliber weapons stand a good chance or penetrating the armour

Taking a closer look, Ed would see Kuki only superficially resembled a molerat; lacking the teeth, and any nostrils and ear canals, while having two small fleshy protrusions at the front of their face, and eight cherry-red eyes, four on each side. Surrounding the upper, and to a lesser degree, back of the eyes, were rough eyelashes, and near the back of the head were whiskers.

As Ed came closer, Kuki initially lowered themselves into Anik's pocket again, but didn't stay this way for very long.

"What is... molerat? Or chees--"

Kuki's question was interrupted when Dalahar spoke, which startled Kuki enough to cut the sentence off.

Ella snapped around when Dalahar spoke. She then heard his voice in her ear-piece. "I am coming with you, then. I'm probably the most well-equipped officer around." She swallowed, then turned to Ed and gave him an extra phone she carried with her. "I'll contact you once this is over."

"Come if you must." He managed to say. Dalahar stumbles away. i hope I can guarantee your safety

After dealing with various other issues, the security team at the port had sent the material used in Dalahar's armour off to be tested. While most of the conventional weapons struggled to damage it, the laser technology that had originated in Phaesan's world would prove more effective.

Ella followed Dalahar, unholstering her blaster rifle and readying it with a satisfying hum of power. "So, ah... You mentioned a demon in your transmission. What should I expect?"

 

[Vakra jal]

"It's not, malevolent per se" he said "it's from a different plane, it's actions are......without direction let's say"

 

[Silence]

"So, Kuki, where you wanna go?" Anik asked, unsure if she should follow Dalahar or try to chase the guy ... who had driven away in a car ...
