"'Iron Man'? Is that like an Exo-Suit? Are you super strong or fast out of wearing one? Can you fly?"

"Probably needs that anyways ... regardless of that: Yes, kind of. I thought Exo-Suit would be something with an exoskeleton, I don't have that. And I'm not super strong or fast, either. But I can fly. And shoot lasers. And soundwaves. And this thing is good for hacking."

"And how did you procure such a thing?" She raised an eyebrow. "I mean, I don't hold this against you. If this is in any relation to your money status, then you don't have to answer. But it is already apparent that you're more than just a girl with a fascination for costumes and people from other universes."

"Money and a personal engineer, that's it, pretty much." Sarah stated simply.

"That's imagination for ya."

"Yeah, we kinda all come from the same place. Ashania. That's where we all left from, anyway."

Noticing they had made it back into the city, Cybil announced, "Alright, we can probably relax for now. Those women most likely attacked us because they couldn't afford having any witnesses to what they were doing. So I doubt they'll try again in the middle of a city in broad daylight. I say the first thing we should do is contact the local authorities and let know there's some violent kidnappers on the loose."

"Bit of a show woman, are you?" Candace asked.

Montreal

Reinhardt went to his hovervan, which had been towed in front of the hotel, coming back out wit what appeared to be a luggage case made out of metal that was almost as big as he was, which he was currently dragging through the streets behind him as he followed the others and listened to Sarah.

"Ah. I'll buy that. Maybe after this blows over you could check out the sleeves I have. They're reactor sleeves."

Sarah looked at the case Reinhardt was carrying. Noting the size, she asked: "You have a suit, too?"

To Shana she said: "Interesting. I hope you don't mean radioactive ones."

"Yes it does. Don't worry, my ability to produce nuclear fusion is quite minor. These sleeves contain the radiation."

"You do this often?"

Montreal
"Ja. You'll have to give me a second to get it on though..." Reinhardt boasted the first part, and sheepishly admitted the second.

"Uhh ... oh well. Do ... wait, what is the use of that, even?" Sarah said to Shana.
To Reinhardt she smiled. "That's cool! Maybe I should have warned you, and you could have put it on while I put mine on.

Well, we'll probably arrive soon, then you'll be able to get into it."

"It's a long story. But the idea is that a biological engineering institute was contracted to create a more convenient way of producing power to help speed up the colonization of a planet. This planet, Apollo had valuable resources to construct warpgates. And these were needed quickly due to increasing summits between humans and their extraterrestrial allies."

"So they used actual people as fusion reactors?

... that sounds incredibly stupid, to be honest."

"Surprised someone like you would go to street performance."

Montreal
"Right. I'll get ready when you give the word." Reinhardt smiled.

"Didn't I explain this before that this wasn't slave labor? I also explained that a Fenrir cannot produce fusion if they are angered or enraged. They have to be focused and collected. The reason why the wolf gene was put in was to stabilize and provide the necessary supporting amino acid structures for the cells to produce the fusion. As well as many other things. Secondly, this was no skunk box organization that was handing out a prototype from a laboratory. This was an extensively researched proposition against other power sources at the time, including a cold fusion reactor. Which, at that point, would take at least two years minimum to build without any biosphere established. And the biosphere is also needed for life support for a colony that needs at least 1500 to sustain a massive mining project. The bioengineers were able to produce a more convenient package of power in less than that amount of time. They went through documentation of Sara Mason's abilities, power output, and social stability with humans as part of a 1.5 year project."

Her voice was shaky and uncomfortable at this point. Her emotions were clearly showing on her face.

"Sorry, look... I don't mean to get really defensive here. But one of the primary reasons why we're fighting for our civil rights on Apollo is because we want to remain useful to the engineers that are on the planet. Even after 300 years from the initial establishment of the planet. And it goes even deeper than that, going into the territory of discrimination and fear of Fenrir."

"Umm ... sorry, but I don't understand why it was done in the first place. Like, changing humans is weird already, but then in this way ... even if it is not slave labour, still to be used as tools, instead of actual human beings using tools.
And I would think they would have two years time. I mean, if they could do this without anyone opposing them, there probably was no emergency.

And then ... who knows what would happen if someone had the idea that they wanted this power, but not actually help? Like, they just give other people cancer without them knowing, or what?
Not to mention that the kids of these bioengineers certainly could not state if they wanted this or not. Even though this was purely artificial." Sarah ranted.

"I just ... don't understand why anyone would do this. It sounds like mad science to me. Mixing human with animal DNA as well ... how do you even get this idea?

Sorry if this hurts you, and I'm fine with you as a person, and everyone who was born like you. Just the backstory of your race, it does not make sense to me."

"I'm glad you think so. In that case I could go into the reasons why my IDoT were rushing things and the bioengineers shouldn't have been a guilty party at the end. But I'm not going to waste my time by defending these people. Because it's a waste of energy at this point.

I'm not going to go into the various opinions on what the children of the bioengineers thought, because it's way too complex to dive into to summarize succinctly."

She took a deep breath, and now looked more composed.

"Forgive me for trying to explain the history. The civil conflicts between the Fenrir and the humans are my primary reasoning for being the history buff that I am and attending rallies."

"Alright, fair enough. I'm still wondering about how this cooperation got away with it. It sounds straight like a supervillanious organization out of a comic book. But ... I guess oversight is difficult in space.

And being a history buff is fine, and attending rallies too, but in my experience, if you want people not to judge you, you need them let to know you. That means you as a person, not your race as a whole. That has to happen later. If you want ... you could tell me a bit about yourself, instead about your history.
... still wondering if there weren't people just giving their enemies cancer just because they could now ... Aaanyways: Do you have friends? What will they think where you have gone? Are you in school right now? Do you still work as a nuclear ... whatever that is, or do you have another job?"

"Seems like a good idea. I'm done taking chances" Faa said. People who saw him on the street gave him puzzling and fearful looks now, they had all heard about what happened in South Africa, what the invaders looked like. "Whys everyone so stary all of a sudden? People didn't seem bothered by me this morning"
