The Captain's appearance scuttled plans for an ambush of the traveling merchant and the fact that he was willing to go off with him in an instant to view his wares pretty much deleted them all together from Sammi's mind. Damn, oh well, Maybe Peter will take him for all he's got. Who knows? After being dismissed for some shore leave, she decided to take him up on that offer, heading into the city.

With the bit of Belli she was given by the Captain, she hit up a couple of the shops inland from the port, away from the usual tourist traps by the shore. There wasn't much on offer, it seemed like most of the shops had been cleared out in recent times, and not just due to brisk business. Still, she picked up a nice ring that was on offer. Practically a steal at 95,000 belli. And then it was literally a steal thanks to the loaded bluff she still happened to be carrying with her. Worked much better than the axes. And she had to have it. There was no jewelry on offer in Jingo to replace all the accumulated treasure that went into the hands of the enemy when the Marines took the Thrasher, and this was a fine piece of work. The golden band accentuated the three ruby stones that lined it, and it was still quite shiny.

Sammi was still admiring this latest acquisition when she heard a commotion from the nearby alleyways. Sounds of gunfire were ringing through out the streets. She looked around, it appeared she was in a run down section of the island, very industrial. Not like the active port, it was more run-down, as if people around here had just moved on. Shit. Now how am I going to know where to go to get back? Smart, Sammi. Just smart.

Peter took a minute to analyse the situation. "Ok... so they're after you? Well they don't know what you look like, so all we need is something for them to chase. They don't know we're here either..." He took her bow and handed it to Grana. "You think you can outrun them? The inn I'm staying at is 4 blocks south of the Marine outpost. You'll know it when you see it."

He lead the Archer to an alleyway. "Ok, give me your clothes... put them on him, and he can go get your stuff. We can get away, and he can come back with the medical supplies. It shouldn't be that hard..."
Yezeku nodded as Gulligan told him his story. "Yeah, stuff like that tends to happen. Well, things around here have a tendency to sort themselves out, so you can look forward to some nice, relaxing days here. You don't really have to worry about the criminals here. They usually end up killing each other in a prompt, predictable manner..."

"I-" the Archer started as they stood there for a moment, stupefied by Peter taking away their bow, trying to grab it back for a moment before being led down an alley. When they heard Peter's plan they immediately objected to it, the little bit of their face that could be seen turning red.

"No! I can't undress...that's improper! I- look just take my damned cloak. When you go to my base use the third set of stairs to head up one floor, the other two are booby trapped. When you get to a store room make sure to not open it from the front door, go into the adjacent room and enter through there. While your there you best just get the rest of my stuff; there are two satchels that are there, and a bag of food," they explained, unhooking the brooch from their black cloak and putting it in a pocket before handing the cloak to Grana.

Alaena Marsh stood in front of the two men (getting an odd look from both of them) in her bloodied clothes, half of her light green shirt covered in caked on blood. Most of the white of her sash and the leather on her belt were stained red too, that being where the bullet had hit her. She felt odd not having her main weapon, but she still had her holstered revolver and knife underneath her leather vest. 'If only I'd actually use the damn gun, need to make more bullets once this is all over,' she thought, letting go of Peter before walking over and grabbing Grana by the collar.

"If that bow is damaged in anyway I will make sure to find you and hurt you in ways you couldn't even fathom. Same goes if any of my stuff is missing, and I'll know," she threatened him, letting go and whistling. The falcon flew down and onto her arm bracer, being told to keep watch of Grana before being sent back up to fly. She moved back to Peter and put her arm around his shoulder to take off some of the weight before telling him, "I'm ready to go."

Peter was a little shocked to learn the Archer was actually a woman. But he shrugged and helped her stand. nodded. "Good luck, Grana. Try not to get yourself killed. And keep it simple. Go, get the stuff, and get back. Last thing we need is someone else chasing us..." He started heading down the alleys.

As they approached the center of town, he tried to draw as little attention as he could walking past. "Just hold on a little bit..."
Yezeku and Gulligan had almost reached the center of town now, the outpost very close to them. "Home sweet home... glad I'll never have to look it again..."

"I'll be fine once I patch myself up and rest a bit. I can go another hour by my figures before going into the red zone of health," Alaena replied to Peter, doing her best to walk normally and cover up her injuries from those around them. She was thankful that no one ever knew who she was or what she even looked like, otherwise they would be having Buderos and Yarrakonas chasing after them.

She took a deep breath to try and calm herself down, deciding to stop looking for potential dangers at the time and instead focus on the man helping her. From what she could tell he didn't look particularly tough in any way, shape, of form. She had a number of inches on him, and probably a dozen pounds as well just by looking at his physique. He didn't seem the fighting type, but from the gadgets and weapons he had on him Alaena figured he was the smart type who used brains instead of brawn.

"So, you're a pirate correct? And a Captain at that if I am correct...so what do you want out of helping me? I do try to pay my debts, but I'm not so keen of helping out pirates in any way," she told him, eying his reaction to the statement.

Grana was actually suprised enough to let Alaena get close enough to actually grab him. "That cloak hid quite a bit, I suppose" Grana mused. Unable to let himself be threatened, however, Grana couldn't help one last parting shot. "Don't worry Madame, I'm always gentle with what I touch." Grana said with a mischievous spirit. Grana quickly donned the cloak, securing it with a simple brooch he had also stolen from Jingo. This one, however, was silver and of slightly inferior quality to the butterfly brooch. Grana then slung the bow over his shoulder like he had seen Alaena do it. Grabbing onto a window ledge using his grip strength, honed from years of dangling from ledges, Grana pulled himself up and over, scaling the building like a monkey. Grana took one last look down at Peter and the Night Archer before he felt claws dig into his shoulder. Grana turned his head to find a familiar face staring into his. "Oh, so you've been assigned to watch me, birdy? A few ground rules then: feel free to attack the boys in black. Attack me, and I'll be having you for dinner. We good?" Fletch shrieked in response. Grana took this as confirmation.

"Cool. Hang on!" Grana unshouldered the bow and took out an arrow. Grana had no idea how in the hell to user the thing but he sure knew how to look like he knew. Grana measured the distance as about 9 or so meters to the nearest Budero. Grana placed the arrow in-between his middle fingers, forming a fist with it. Imitating the drawback motion of the bow without touching it, Grana thrust his arrowed fist forward as fast as he could. It disappeared into one of his portals, impaling the Budero. Grana ripped it back out before shouldering the bow once more. "There he is! Get the bastard!" One of the suited men cried out as his brother fell down, suffocating on his own blood. Grana jumped down from the building, disappearing from view into a portal of his, whispering a quiet 'Good luck," to Peter and Alaena. He reappeared in the middle of the street, impatiently tapping his foot behind the Buderos. Fletch flew off Grana's shoulder, shrieking to collect the attention of the show witting mafiosos. They turned just as Grana did, and began to chase after the cloaked thief as he began to sprint, careful not to lose his tails, but far enough ahead that he wasn't an easy target by any stretch. "Run! Hurry! Get away!" Grana yelled at the civilians as he dodged through them.

Peter had turned south, trying to get back to the inn, able to see the sign up ahead. "You got that right. Captain Peter Tew of the...you know, I haven't actually come up with a crew name..." he mumbled to himself, but got back on topic. "Anyway, why did I do this? I honestly don't know. Guess I just thought it indecent to leave an injured person lying there. Whatever debt you think you owe me, we can discuss it later."
Yezeku noticed two people walking down the street, one of them looking very hurt. "Huh... looks like we have another civie injury..." He turned to Guligan, who seemed to be staring at them, as if trying to put together some puzzle. "Hey, come on..." he lead him inside the outpost. "Now then, let's get the formalities out of the way..."

Alaena nodded silently as she listened to Peter, noting the two Marines who were looking at them. She quickly diverted her eyes to the inn that she was led into, looking back and seeing the Marines go into the outpost across the street. 'Thank goodness for that, don't need to deal with Marines too. Already have a horrible record with them.'

She turned her attention back to Peter, saying, "It seems you might be one of the more decent pirates, which is a nice change from the numerous ones I've had the displeasure of meeting. That might just be because you are new at the job though, since you don't even seem to have a name for your crew yet. I do appreciate the help though, and I do feel that there is some debt I owe you for going out of your way." She grew silent as they ascended some stairs having some trouble going up the few flights to his room.

"Couldn't have chosen one on the first floor could you?" she asked with a hint of humor in her voice, adding, "My name is Alaena by the way."

Hero
Name: Alaena "The Night Archer" Marsh
Gender: Female
Age: 26

Appearance: Underneath her hood and black cloak Alaena is 5' 8" with a lithe and toned figure. She wears a long, light green shirt that is tucked into a large, dark brown leather belt with a white silk sash over it that falls to her knees. Slim black boots that go up to her shins accompany equally colored (slightly worn-out) pants. Over her shirt is a boiled leather vest lightly tied together in the front, numerous scratches adorning it showing its age (and hidden underneath is a bowie knife). Her large quiver for arrows is usually hidden underneath her cloak (where it is connected to her belt), or on her back if her cloak is moved to one side (in 'casual' mode). On both of her arms are leather bracers to protect her arms from both the string of her bow and enemy attacks. The only things that seem to be of value on her are a brooch on the front of her cloak (a green garnet and brown agate tree surrounded by obsidian with a white gold border), a red-leather revolver that has five out of six seastone bullets in it in a holster on her left hip, and her white Aerristaen wood bow.
Underneath her hood Alaena is comely, with dark, forest green hair that is short and straight with choppy bangs that fall to her eyes. The natural furrow of her brows makes her murky brown eyes have a certain intensity to them. The bottom half of a tattoo goes down her right arm, the visible part showing that of a black mangrove that branches into the circle that borders it.

Background: Alaena is a member of the royal family of the Delta Isles in the South Blue. The second child to the current ruler, Alaena's life was the opposite of what most would assume a royal life would be. The Delta Isles are giant swamplands that are made up of three separate islands, with the two most important things to the habitants of the Isles are survival and 'entering the legend' (their way of saying 'dying an epic and honorable death'). Alaena learned at a young age how to survive in the wild that surrounded her (her two primary skills becoming archery and medicine), oftentimes skipping lessons on actually ruling the Isles in favor of spending more time in the swamps outside of the castle.
At fifteen she descended the steps into the caverns of the island below to start her Trial of Aerristaen (their first ruler and the name of the white trees that only grow at the Delta Isles). After a week below in the darkness, she ascended out of the caves with newfound wisdom and traveled back to her family's castle. She soon found out that recently a small group had been welcomed by the family and soon gained the Marshes' support in their cause. The small group went by the name Revolutionaries, and had managed to convince the family to aid them in times of need against the World Government (their leader, as she came to find, was quite charismatic about his cause). Before the group left a few days later, Alaena gained permission from her family to join them on their travels to study around the world now that she was considered an adult. She followed and learned from them and their travels for a few years before outright joining their cause at 17.
After having taken part in many smaller missions with her fellow Revolutionaries she was given her own assignment at the age of 22 (and bestowed her 6-shot red revolver as a gift): infiltrate and learn at a large marine training compound in North Blue, before destroying it from the inside. It was there that she learned and developed many skills (including honing her own) with the most useful being Geppo (Moonwalk) and a mastery over Soru (Shave); being sure to focus her studies on the techniques and knowledge that would be of the greatest use for her in the future. The role of a new, talented young marine with a knack for medicines was an easy one for her, and she quickly gained companions whilst attending and even fell in love with a high-ranking official that was there. But then it came time to initiate the final part of the plan. With her dark cloak hiding her in the shadows of the night and wielding her bow and arrows (many of them dipped in pitch and rigged with explosives) she burned down and demolished most of the compound before anyone realized what was going on, managing to escape even after having to fight the man she had come to love (losing one of the few and precious seastone bullets that she was given in order to escape).
After recovering from the injuries she had acquired (along with learning of her much-hated nickname she had gained from the ordeal, "The Night Archer") she laid low for the next few years, doing small missions for the Revolutionaries before going on a hiatus from them whilst she did more traveling. Since then she's been traveling from island to island in West Blue, making friends, providing medical care, and defending the small folk while she awaits a new mission from her cause.

Personality: Normally somber and reclusive, once Alaena befriends people her friendly nature starts to come out. She's not one to usually talk about her past, but she enjoys telling others of her opinions on things and enjoys a good debate. Certain matters of her past she'll completely close herself off to, mainly those on her first large mission and of her relationship with others. She won't ask questions of people's pasts unless they are fine with answering. She will also put the small folk above her own needs, including going out of the way to help them if need be.

Skills/Weapons: Alaena is a master of three things: Archery, Soru (Shave), and survival skills. She knows how to prepare nutritional food out of the natural habit (it being tasty on the other hand?), knows how to make or find shelter, knows advance medicine, the uses of camouflage, and anything else one needs to know when all alone in a place they aren't used to.
Her recurve bow is made of white Aerristaen wood (naturally grows only in her homeland) and has been with her since before she came of age. Normally she uses basic steel and wood broadhead arrows, but has used other types if they are called for (explosives, pitch and poison dipped, etc).
The two secondary weapons she uses are a 9-inch bowie knife that she uses for both close combat and more mundane purposes, and her red revolver (which uses seastone bullets) which is only to be used for logia devil fruit users.

Bounty: "The Night Archer" - Currently 100,000 Beli

Role on the crew: Doctor

Other: A somewhat new companion she recently acquired within the last year is a young falcon, Fletch. He scouts ahead for her and can deliver messages or attack if given certain signals from his owner (usually by a whistle).
She also carries a small satchel of supplies with her (though recently all medicinal supplies in it have been exhausted after leaving the last city she was in).

Grana hid around the corner, breathing heavily as he heard the Buderos run past. "19...20...21... where's 22?" Grana was quickly answered as a black suited man followed up his companions, walking slowly, checking everywhere. Grana skink back into the shadows as the man looked his was, slowly drawing the tanto. The moment the man turned away, Grana lunged forward, grabbing the man, covering his mouth, and plunging the tanto into his throat. Grana dropped the man, causing a thud. "Hey, Tony? Where are ya?" A few of them called out. Grana started to drag the body, making the blood trail in the alley. Grana dropped the cadaver just behind a bend in the alley, out of sight. Three of the members saw the trail of blood and began to break out in sweat. "Wha-What the hell is this, some kinda bad horror movie?" Grana grinned as he stepped out from the woodwork. "You have no idea." The Buderos spun aroun, fumbling for their guns, but it was too late. Not even bothering with the bow, Grana drew his swords and slashed forward, cutting one man nearly in half, and impaling the other two. Grana picked up a Budero pistol as he once again began to sprint, attracting the attention of the Buderos once more.

Having reached Yarrakona territory, and finding the streets largely deserted, Grana chanced upon a large group of Yarrakona, about 20 or so in number. Thinking it his lucky day, Grana took aim at a member in the back, killing him and causing all the others to turn around in rage. Grana warped away into a nearby alley, out of sight, leaving the Yarrakonas to assume the Buderos, running toward them with guns drawn, had fired upon their comrade. Satisfied at this turn of events, Grana quietly walked towards Alaena's base of operations. As be carefully found and walked up the third flight of steps, Grana saw Fletch flying above him. "See? Bow undamaged. We're good, so let's go get your master's stuff." Walking in the backdoor, Grana's first instinct was to see why Alaena had warned him away from the front door. He whistled at the ingenuity of the hellish device on the front door as he collected her things. "Satchel one... Check. Bag of food... Check. Where the hell is satchell two?" Grana turned around only to see Fletch on top of it. "Ah. Thank you, birdy. Okay, let's get back to Peter and your master, shall we?" Grana walked outside and jumped to the next rooftop, noting that the Buderos and Yarrakonas were still fighting. Grabs actually almost laughed when the final member of each gang shot the other at the same time. It just was t something you expected to see in real life! Grana shook his head as he began to walk back towards the Marine base, Fletch lazily perched on his shoulder, turning a suspicious eye to his ward from time to time.

Yoje walked out of the restaurant, full and content. "Well, that was a good meal. Now I guess I should look for the others, or figure out where I'm going to stay tonight. Peter left me enough beli to afford a decent place." He purchased a map and looked for a good place to stay.
"The nicest place around looks like the Ivory Oyster resort. It's in the opposite direction of the Marine base, too, so I won't have to worry about getting into trouble on an island I'm not leaving for another day"
Yoje put away the map and began walking to the resort, hoping to find some of his crewmates on the way.

"Nice to meet ya. Didn't seem like anyone else was going to help, so I figured I might as well do it. Plus, like you said, now I've got someone who owes me a favor. But we can worry about that later..." he moved the briefcase he had under his bed and moved a couple small pouches of his ammunition on the nearby table. "Wasn't expecting company, that's for sure. So what exactly was going on?"

"Hah, don't really have friends here to help me. And the people here are too scared to do anything half the time," Alaena replied as she took a seat at the edge of his bed. She was silent as she carefully took off her sash, gun, and belt; hanging them against the bedpost as she started to untie her boots. Once those were off she took off her vest and knife, and lifted up her shirt to examine the bullet wound before cursing and lying down as carefully as she could.

"You'll have to get new bedsheets after this," she commented, thinking about what exactly to tell the pirate captain who had kindly helped her. "As for what's going on, this city is owned by two families that are terrorizing the people for their own gain. And I've been here for a few months trying to stop it all. I started targeting the higher ups of the families recently, and was soon to go after the heads themselves. Sadly things didn't turn out as planned, and now I'm here lying on your bed with a bullet wound telling you a bit about how I got to this point. Think you can grab me a pail of water and some rags? I'll be needing them once I get my supplies."

Peter went and got a bucket of water and a couple towels. "Well, I can tell you aren't from around here..." He sat down and looked through some of his stuff. "So why fight them? Just think to yourself 'well someone has to...'? Or is it a personal problem?"

"It's...a few things really," Alaena replied, thanking him for the towels and water. As she started to clean up the area around the room with a wet towel she continued, "Where I come from things like this don't happen, and when I was young I went out into the world and found it to not be what I expected. Having lived in a very nice place did not prepare me for some of the harsh realities of the world we live in...and so I decided to make it a better place."

"I've been helping people all around the world, going from town to town and making it a better place. This is just the latest city in my many years of doing this. And it is certainly not going to be the last," she said, gasping in pain when she brushed over the wound, "And this is certainly not the worst that I've been injured. But, anyways what about yourself? What are you doing being a pirate? More of, what are you doing being a nice enough pirate to help someone you don't know out?"

"Why not? I'm just going around from place to place. Piracy does tend to make explanations about why I do what I do that much simpler. A lot less of that annoying legal trouble..." he chuckled to himself. "It's a great way to get to see the world and do all sorts of interesting things. As for helping you? Meh... guess my folks just raised me well enough."

"Piracy implies pillaging and murdering innocents, not exactly something I see you doing, and I can be a pretty good judge of character most of the time. Stealing I can see you being capable of, but after that I'd say you should just call yourself a sailor. That way people will be more willing to accept you rather than run in fear and call the damned Marines," Alaena replied somewhat sternly, clearly having no like for either of the two groups. She apologized for how much it sounded like she was lecturing him, lying down completely now after cleaning up.

"Sorry about that. I can go on long rants about things like that. So, are you an inventor of some sort? I noticed you have some gadgets on you, and pardon me saying but you don't quite look like someone who partakes in fisticuffs often," she said, grabbing her gun and belt as she tried to clean some of the blood that was still on them.

Grana was running across the rooftops when he saw Yoje down below. Grana wouldn't have minded talking to Yoje, but as he was now, in a cloak that covered him from head to toe, and moreso Alaena's blood that also covered the Magician, Grana doubted that Yoje would be all that favorably unfounded towards Grana. That, and Fletch was quite dutiful in his mission. He began to peach at Grana through the cloak. "Ow, ow, ouch! Dammit, that hurts! Ow, dammit, I'm going, I'm going! What did we agree on about no pecking?" Grana muttered as he continued his trip, resolving to talk to Yoje later about everything that happened.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grana arrived at the hotel Peter talked about, the one right next to the Marine base, all without being spotted. Grana realized immediately that there was no way in hell he would make it through the front door, and so Grana had to climb up the brick wall on the back and hope he chose the right room. With nothing left to it, Grana began to climb, Fletch looking up. Grana smiled as he though of a brilliant yet simple plan. All he had to do was merely follow the direction Fletch turned. Flowing the bird up several stories, Grana finally reached a floor where Fletch stared dead ahead and shrieked. Taking this as conformation, Grana opened a portal right above him, connected to the floorspace a few feet in front of him. If either of the two was looking, they would first see an arm reach out from the solid floor, then the bow tip, then Fletch, followed by the rest of Grana. Grana pulled himself up and through the portal, brushing himself off as he stood up. He took off the bow, resting it gently against the wall, and undid the clasp on the brooch, allowing the cloak to fall to the ground. Fletch jumped off and resettled on Grana's now-bare shoulder, much to his annoyance. Grana finally took off his commoner's hat and, reaching inside it, pulled out the things Alaena had asked him to get. "Okay. Here you go. Two satchels, one bag of food, one undamaged bow, one used arrow, and one hovering falcon. That's everything. Now, mind telling this guy to get off my shoulder? He's barely moved from that spot since you told him to watch me. Anyway, did I miss anything?" Grana grinned at the absolute obedience of the bird.

"Yeah, I am an inventor. I'm pretty good at it, if I do say so myself. Still, there's a lot I can learn. Still, you think this stuff's impressive? You should see the stuff on my ship once it's done..." As he finished saying that, Grana walked in.

Peter took the bags and handed them to Alaena. "Thank you, Grana. Now then, perhaps we should give her a moment of privacy. Or perhaps our new friend here can take care of it in the bathroom." He gestured him out the door. "If either of you two need anything, I'll be outside. Now then... I better not come back to find my things missing, or else I won't be so hospitable." He got up and stretched, heading out the door.

Alaena nodded at Peter as she sat up from the bed and grabbed both of her satchels. She thanked the two men as she made her way into the bathroom slowly, her young falcon flying in to join her. She tossed the satchels on the tiled floor next to the toilet, taking a seat on it as she undressed. The bloodied clothes were thrown to the side to be thrown away later, a new set being set out on a small counter.

She turned on the shower and stepped in, making sure all the blood was off of her before turning it off and sitting at the edge of the tub. From her medical supplies she grabbed out a small bottle of solution that she used to clean the outside of the wound that was now starting to bleed again. Once that was done she grabbed a small syringe and a small glass jar, putting the needle in and extracting a small amount of the liquid inside. After injecting it close to the wound she put all of that away (throwing the syringe on top of the discarded clothes), doing a check to make sure that there were no pieces of bullets still left in the wound.

The next step was the stitching, which Alaena had gotten quite a knack for during her years of mending her wounds. As she finished tying up the last stitch she put on some ointment to keep out any infections. Grabbing two gauze pads and some long bandages, she put the pads on the entry and exit wound before wrapping it up. She wrapped her up her bruised ribs and sprained ankle before packing up any supplies that she had left out.

Once everything was put away she redressed and cleaned up the bathroom as best she could before throwing everything unneeded in the trash and placing it outside the door. She placed her two satchels next to the bed, being sure to removes any bloodied sheets and putting them in the garbage too. As she laid back down she told Fletch to let them know that she was done, the falcon flying over to the door and opening it after a few tries of turning the handle.

Grana shook his head in amazement as the hawk actually managed to open the door. "Thanks, birdy." he said with an exaggerated bow as he entered the room, seeing that Alaena had finished with her personal examinations. Grana ran his exacting eye down Alaena, noting the precision with which she had managed to stitch up what was a potentially lethal injury. Grana hooked a chair with his foot and sat down, lying his swords next to Alaena's bow. He took the commoner's hat off his head and plunged his arm into it, reaching in shoulder deep in a hat no more than a few inches deep at most. Grana pulled out a whiskey bottle gained from the Eyes On the Table Casino. Picking out two glasses, Grana uncorked the bottle and poured himself a few fingers worth of the drink.
