If yawning is such an amazing way of dealing with shortage of air, why don't we yawn when we run?

OT: It is against the law to mispronounce the name of the State of Arkansas in that State.

60% of the "facts" in this thread are actually factoids: Statements asserted and commonly accepted as fact, but which actually have little to no basis in reality.

Half of the time they jump
And we wonder why they are an endangered species.

There is a mountain range under the ocean that is twice as tall and five times as long as Mt. Everest.

A solid titanium ball bounces higher than a rubber ball of the same size.
Glass also bounces higher than rubber on a hard, flat, smooth surface as long as it doesn't break.

As for the thread, Kellog's Corn Flakes and Graham Crackers were both originally marketed as cures for chronic masturbation.

The real equation is E[sup]2[/sup]=m[sup]2[/sup]c[sup]4[/sup]+p[sup]2[/sup]c[sup]2[/sup].
Actually, it's E[sup]2[/sup]=+/-m[sup]2[/sup]c[sup]4[/sup]+p[sup]2[/sup]c[sup]2[/sup]. You have to account for antimatter.

Actually it's 40%.

Archimedes popularized the term "eureka" and he did it by screaming it while running through town naked.

Not quite, even though that's part of it. I'm pretty sure they were marketed to stop all horniness because they were really bland. Something like that.

I have been informed by a friend that in Alaska there is a law that simply states "Clown's Beware"
I think there is also a law that says you cannot push a moose out of an airplane.

The longest word in the English language is 1909 letters long and it refers to a distinct part of DNA.
Actually, that may be Methionylthreonylthreonylglutaminylarginyl...isoleucine, a 189,819 letter word for the Chemical name of titin, the largest known protein.
Nope, generic names of chemical compounds are verbal formulae... NOT English words.

Then I adopt it to my own language. Commi-ese is born, and it will be better then English ever was.

And Methionylthreonylthreonylglutaminylarginyl...isoleucine shall be the longest word.

[sup]I win this round[/sup]
No you dont, resorting to making things up automatically makes you lose... and even if it didnt I said "IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE". Sorry, but you dont win.

The United States successfully sued England after the American Civil War for damages.

Civil War Talk said:
At one point, a claim was made by US Senator Charles Sumner stating that England was responsible for half of the cost of the war, and that the US would consider Canada as payment. This shocked the British and they soon realized that they had better come to some agreement soon.

...

A commission was formed and met in Geneva on Dec. 15th, 1871 It named as chairman, Count Federico Sclopis, the Italian nominee. England sent Sir Alexander Cockburn; the US sent Charles Francis Adams; Brazil sent Baron d'Itajuba, the Brazilian minister to France; Switzerland sent ex-President Jacob Staempfli.

...

England was held liable only for the Alabama (unanimous), Florida (4-1), Shenandoah in part (3-2) and the tenders of both the Alabama and Florida (unanimous). The total amount was affixed at a lump sum of $15,500,000, the US being left to settle with private claimants.
Yeah, really.
