Hedgehogs, being unable to groom properly because of their spines, have evolved to tolerate a certain level of parasite infestation. If some helpful soul de-fleas a hedgehog, the animal shows withdrawal symptoms very similar to a recovering heroin addict.

Gases in the atmosphere reflecting specific wavelengths of light at specific angles are what give the sky it's blueish tinge during the day and more colorful changes during the twilight and sunset hours.

Gravity has actually already been falsified. Actually that's not true, some theories of gravity have actually been falsified
Gravity on the small scale works well enough, it's when you get into the range of stars and larger bodies of matter that it doesn't work, like black holes.

hmm.. source or bull-
Pardon my error. I should have said they kill more people in Africa than any other animal. I'd quote 2nd hand knowledge from someone's who's been to Africa and been told by natives, but I guess it'd be disregarded. So here's some links. Believe it or not.

As far as Mosquitos, they kill indirectly by transmitting disease.

The phrase 'rule of thumb' comes from an old English rule stating that you cannot beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb.

For fucks sake. This is something like the fourth time I have disproved this fact in the past 6 months. IT IS A FUCKING LIE. There is no evidence towards this. Anyone repeating this drivel should be taken out back and shot. It's quite and easy fact to (dis)prove, what with laws being written down and all.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thumb#Thumb_used_for_regulation

It never existed. Stop perpetuating this nonsense.

Coral snakes are a venomous type of snake.
Some snakes mimic coral snakes.
Their response? They mimic the mimics.
This is Emsleyan/Mertensian mimicry.

Necrophelia is not a federal offense

As of 2004, there was an Island in the UK where it was/is technically legal to shot Scottsmen with crossbows
That island you speak of is England... and it is only in York that this was legal. It also has to be after sunset. It goes from the days of the invasion of William Wallace...

I would love to see Alan Shore defending that one,..

Actually its more like 3 weeks, it was tested over a week someone trained a goldfish to solve a simple maze and two weeks later it apparently forgot how to get through.
2 quotes in 2 minutes? Wow.

Never watch mythbusters and I just read that off a website.
I am suspect about a Goldfish's memory. We used to feed goldfish (they being the cheapest fish) to my friend's pet piranhas. Usually, the goldfish all die in about 30 seconds (note: the piranhas prefer to eat them whole if they can). Once, one of the goldfish survived the initial feeding frenzy for about 2 minutes; it spent most of that time running and hiding, but at the end of it suddenly decided to stop running or hiding, and was eaten.

On a related note, piranhas are far less aggressive than hyped up to be. It is completely safe to stick your arm in a piranha tank (we did this several times) provided you do not corner the fish and they aren't starving (hungry is ok; they won't attack something larger than them unless desperate). Apparently, the "piranhas can eat a cow down to its skeleton in 2 minutes" factoid is both true and misleading; it came when a batch of piranha were prepared by starving them in order to impress Teddy Roosevelt when he visited. The desperately starving fish tore the cow to shreds in under 2 minutes, reportedly.

Laser is actually an acronym standing for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation.

Silver, orange, width, purple, and month don't rhyme with any other words in the english language.

Eskimos use refridgerators to prevent their food from freezing.
Probably been corrected already but murple is a real word, rhyming with purple.
Really? I actually did not know that. You are, in fact, the first to correct me. What does murple mean?

Did you know.....

A platypus has venomous spines on its body.

If you cut the head off a giraffe, due to the amount of blood pressure, the resulting spurt of blood would shoot 3m in the air (makes you think who had the time to find that out.. :s)

Before George Washington had a set of wooden teeth he had a pair made of hippo's teeth.

And Mel Blanc the voice of Bugs Bunny was allergic to carrots.

So yeah...anyone else got any weird facts?
It's venomous spurs for a platypus not spines.
And giraffes require high blood pressure to pump from their heart up to their neck so they have larger cardiac muscles to accomplish this, however their heart beats slower than that of a human. Also for humans if the main aorta is lacerated it can spray the blood 6 feet up

Human birth control pills work on gorillas

That's all I've got =/
..People actually tested those things?!
They may have tested it or just made a generalisation since gorilla DNA and human DNA are like 98% similar

Did you know:
Cats have no feeling whatsoever in the scruff of their neck
Glass windows are actually liquid
There are 2 different species of zebra
It is possible to directly transfer a cold to species of ape/monkey

I can't really think of many good ones at the moment so just noting down what comes to me from reading other posts
