So today I bought Diablo 3 on 360, enjoying it a lot so far. I've tried out the Demon Hunter, Monk, and Witch Doctor. The monk is probably my favourite, because punching zombies so hard all the flesh flies from their bones is just...great.

But Witch Doctor is near mesmerising, because I thought what I was signing up for was being the necromancer, toying with the dark forces of life and death for the greater good, being all mystical and wise and stuff.

So imagine my surprise when I find that one of his main attacks is literally to just throw a jar of spiders at folks.

I can't argue with the effectiveness of it, but that is not magic. That is just crazy. Brilliant, but crazy.

What are the weirdest attacks you've ever heard of? Videogames, books, movies, real life...anything, so long as it is intended to do harm, and weird as hell.

xD I too recently picked up D3 for the 360 and thought pretty much the exact same thing with regards to that particular Witch Doctor attack. I remember thinking (in a very Austin Powers voice) "I mean really! Who throws a jar of spiders at people?!"

Oh, and by the way, I wouldn't bother with the Demon Hunter. So far it's the most overpowered class that I've played...granted I've only played DH, WD, and Mage. Rapid Fire With Rapid Fire Slows Enemies Ruin + Bat Familiar + Shadow Power With Hatred Generating Rune = Nearly Infinite Ammo Rapid Fire. Add to it the passive where you deal more damage as long as there's no enemies within 10 yards of you, the passive that deals more damage to slowed targets, and Archery (which for me gives me +15% crit chance since I use a 1handed crossbow) and you literally mow down everything, including bosses, with no challenge at all. Whatever button you bind Rapid Fire to literally becomes your I Win button. Just hold it down until the end of each fight.

As for my own suggestion of Strangest Attack: just watch (or read, probably better to read the manga :p) Bobobo-bo-Bobobo. This is a manga/anime where nonsense is literally the most powerful weapon in the world. Your attacks don't have to deal any kind of actual physical damage, they just have to make your opponent's mind explode due to critical levels of "WTF?!?!?!"

This is a series where a guy spits out tiny sumo wrestlers rapid-fire style as though he were spitting out watermelon seeds. Also: Yugi Muto makes a cameo by popping out of an afro and summoning Slifer the Sky Dragon to launch an attack at one of the villains.

I heard that in Southpark: the Stick of Truth, you can add ginger pubic hair to your weapon for +30 gross damage. That would probably be it for me.

Everything you do in Saints Row is a close second.

Well...in Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich, you could make your own custom superheroes and give them projectile, AoE, beam, cone, shield, direct or grenade-type attacks and choose from a whole list of existing effects and properties from other powers. This ended up in a lot of strange combinations like riflemen taken from the campaign who could fire bursts of grenades from their rifles. These grenades would explode into a pink, hallucinogenic mist on contact with enemies.

There was also a villain whose devastating main attack was to...sing, basically. It could level any building in front of its rapidly-expanding cone. That was the strangest Vanilla effect from the campaign that comes readily to mind.

It was a great game, I heartily recommend it. Really, how outlandish the attacks were came down to the creativity of the player crafting them.

Yep... It's WAY better to read the manga of Bobobo... Also, the whole series is nothing but weird attacks ranging from just hair or jelly-based to just flat-out "like a give a fuck" attacks that are only categories as attacks based on just name-association alone...

OT: Throwing a key-shaped sword like a boomerang to kill an enemy... Who says it does more than just unlock locks like a skeleton key?

Also, summoning an Ancient Psychic Tandem War Elephant basically solves all of your problems...

There was the Gonzo gun (pretty much a joke/cheat weapon) from 'The Suffering'. The gun was a chicken that launched exploding eggs.

Cat-Silencer.

Just. WTF.

For a game that lets you pee on corpses, and other weird/horrible stuff...
Finding a cat, shoving it on your gun, and using it as a silencer.
Well, that was just...weird.

Shock attack gun from 40k. Better than a squigapult, which just fires angry squigs at your enemy, this teleports them inside their clothes. Very nasty if they are in a space suit.

The original Persona back in 95 had this in spades. Alot of that material made it to the PSP reboot.

Destroy All Humans had things like an Anal Probe to suck out brains, gravity discs to make people and cars fly all over the place, a burrowing beast lure, and Gastro...the janitor from the mothership. Also? You can make everyone dance.

MDK - which was originally made by Shiny Entertainment (creators of Earthworm Jim) - had cow-drop weapons, really big hammers, dummy decoys, and The World's Most Interesting Bomb.

Speaking of Jim, a giant gun made outta' bricks that destroys everything in sight is both weird AND awesome.

Sweet Tooth of the Twisted Metal games is best-known for his napalm ice cream cones...and in Twisted Metal Black, his ice cream truck turned into a goddamn MECH!

Of course, Saints Row games feature the giant dildo bat and the fourth game has a Dubstep Gun.

Blazblue: Alot of Rachel Alucard's attacks, but especially George The Third. It's a lightning frog! Then, there's Tao. Just...Taokaka IS the weird attack.

Props for Voldo of the Soul Calibur series for being a weird contortionist fighter who can compete with Sonic the hedgehog in spindash attacks and...explode.

You-Know-Who of Prototype gets points for being many flavors of The Thing weaponized.

Catherine of Catherine is also an important entry. She killed so many people in their sleep with effectively JENGA!

Special mention to Moira's anti-molerat serum that allows you to make giant molerats in Fallout 3 explode with the touch of a STICK.

I finished Wonderful 101 today.

Giant fist made of superheroes sounds as fantastic on paper as it is in game.

I don't think anything tops Hyperdimension Neptunia's Keiji Inafune Sword. Yes, you heard me right. You use Megaman's Creator as a sword. I mean a real life photo of him too. It's Bizarre, to say the least.

There's also "Gust's Drawing Song" Which is... well, adorable. but it doesn't make any sense

I think Princess Peach in Super Smash Bros. scores highly. Attacking by swinging your hips is one thing, but when you cause explosions as you do it? Not exactly Nintendo's most logical moment...

Here's a few I've heard of/seen. In no particular order.

1. I'm going to take a few hints from Spoony and say Rinoa's limit break where she fires her 60 pound dog from her Blaster Edge.

2. And while I've never seen it, I've heard there's a part in Gurran Lagan where two colossi fight with galaxies as weapons.

3. Metronome from Pokémon.

Jessicas i think it's called "puff-puff" attack in dragon quest 8...where she stuns monsters by "showing them her goods"...ahem...compete with "attack animations"...

and before anyone points out the obvious yes i'm obviously thankfully ignorant of the content of some of Japanese video gaming...still...wasn't really expecting that...

worse still its a bloody handy attack so i ended up using it a lot...purely for the gameplay advantage i hope you understand...
You forgot the best attack in the game: Underpants dance.

Mr. Toots from Red Faction Guerilla is probably the strangest I've seen.

I know of a guy in the new JoJo bizarre adventure game. They have all kinds of weird special attacks but one guy beats them all, it´s the most ridicoulus thing I have ever seen.

When I first saw this I had absolutly no idea what was happening. It was on a youTube video and I asked for someone in the commend section to explain it to me. This is what I understood from the explanations.

This character implants a booby trap in a Boys eye and then lets that boy walk towards you. If the boy reaches you your character asks the boy where your enemy is (even though hes basicaly standing right in front of you since this is a fighting game). Your character then explodes(the boy is not harmed though) and time resets to the beginning of the day. The day goes by exactly like it did before with one exeption, the weird superpower dude never implants the trap in the boy but your character still explodes at the exact same time he met the boy during the first day.

Most weird attacks are just well... weird, like a gun shooting pigs that turn into Apache Helicopters Shooting bigger guns type of weird. But this attack, man I have no idea how to properly describe it... it´s just so freakishly elaborate that I just can´t thing of any other attack that even comes close. Seriously considering watching that new JoJo´s bizarre adventure show to see if it has anything of similar caliber to offer.

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX6uYM--yhQ

The attack in question is at Minute 12 but the other ones are on a similar Level of wtf.

I can't remember the name of the game (though I think it has one of those generic cheesy kind of names) but you can throw your own body parts at your enemies.

I think the only way to die is to lose or have your head destroyed.

Now, if that isn't the weirdest forms of attacks I don't know what is! "I'm going to rip my arm off and beat you to death with it!".

Oh, and also!

The south park game on the PS1, that game had some pretty ... unique weaponry! Shooting eggs out of a chickens bum, cow launcher, machine dart gun, I think Terrance and Phillip dolls were mines or nades, snowballs and the ALT fire was to pee on them, also dodge balls!
