Mei looked up. "Knowing him... probably." She smiled. "I'll walk you back if you'd like. I was heading back to the dorm. Tired of class." She stretched as well as she could. She clicked her cane against the ground. "Well, whatever." She smiled amusedly and followed them. "Such exuberance. You know this must end well." She continued to follow them with a brisk pace.

Sofia watched as Markus ran off in search of James. A compliment, huh? That was unexpected. But nice. Maybe he's not that bad after all. I should probably find James though and make sure... And get out of here before a teacher or someone comes. Sofia thought, realizing how bad it would look for her to be standing alone in the middle of this ruined classroom. She quickly got out of there and made her way down the hall.

"Now if I were James I would.... Actually, I have no idea what goes through his head. Maybe I'd better just check back where I last saw him and go from there." Sofia muttered to herself as she made her way through the halls in search of James.

Alright, we'll just assume that James got away safely and Markus decided to bide his time and wait.

Damien awoke slowly, his first sight a worried Courtney. "Oh Damien, thank God you woke up! I was starting to think that your body had just simply given up!" Damien's first move was to twist his body to seek Cory. He instead found naught but excruciating pain. "Grahh!" He yelled as he slumped back down on the bed. "How's Cory doing?" Damien asked, already knowing what the answer would be. "H-He's fine. We were able to just cast the healing magic Angel's Tears on him and send him on his merry way. You on the other hand..." Damien cut Courtney off. "I know, I know. I'm immune, so we have to do this the long way." Over the past year or so of having every spell known to man cast at him, Damien's body had slowly built up an immunity to spells. It was as if he subconsciously released Mana Pulses constantly as a defense mechanism, distorting all magical waves around him. While it was useful in that it granted Damien near impunity against direct spells, such as air cannons or illusions, indirect spells, such as Shadow Bind or Fireball were all the stronger because of this immunity. The worst part of it was that healing magic also was almost useless when cast at him. Helpful or harmful, his body treated it all the same.

Damien tried to get up once more before he realized the extent of the damage. "Alright... Minor concussion, 2nd degree burned soles, heavily bruised collarbone and left ribs... Damn, I'm out for a while. Tomorrow... Call all the members who signed up for the MEC and get them to meet up. Also, get Markus the duelist and Mei Feng, the 'brass queen' or whatever she reigns to call herself. I'll get Kelsey myself. I will keep this school together, come hell or high water!" After that, Damien's vision and memory started to slide away, like paint washed off a window.

The next day Damien waited patiently, bags under his eyes, as Courtney rounded up all the candidates, and she would not take 'no' for an answer. She had enlisted Cory as raw muscle and was fully prepared to drag the applicants back to Damien. There was a woman stupid enough to get in her way by the name of Katie. "Just what exactly do you think you're doing?" Katie asked petulantly, pouting like a little child. Courtney had had enough of mind games. "I'm rounding up all the people Damien told me to gather. He's out of the picture, but that doesn't mean he won't fight." Katie's eyes narrowed as she slid her Plate from her purse into her hand. "No, I won't let you. This is the day that Damien finally falls and the MEC dies with!" Courtney laughed as she flicked her own Plate at the ground at Katie's feet.

"Magic In: Antlion Pit." The ground beneath Katie immediately became soft as the ground rose up in tentacles, subjugating Katie and pulling her halfway into the pit before the floor hardened once more, sealing her. Katie squirmed to get free. "Hey! That's against school rules-" "Shut up! Since when do you care about school rules? Damien was the only one to enforce them, and now he's out of the picture. There's no one to punish me for this abuse of magic. And this is the consequence of your actions. Everyone knows about you and what you do to control people, and not everyone is enfatuated with you, princess. Without Damien, what's stopping those thugs from sending you to a nice bed right next to Damien, in the hospital? Nothing. So shut up, and let me try and pull this thing together before it all falls apart. Magic Out." Courtney walked on by as the earth regurgitated Katie. "Sophia! James! Markus! Mei! Head to the nurse's office, now!"

Alright, if you so choose, go to the Nurse's office and receive your instructions from Damien. If not, expect to have your instructions come for you...

Mei smiled as she walked from the Dorm. "Today is going to be a good day." She walked with a light stride. She heard the voice commanding her to head to the Nurses office. She sighed and clicked her cane against the ground, "You're implying that I wouldn't be going there anyways? I do have to check in you know." She spoke to herself. Her dress was a muted royal blue. Her cane clicked against the ground as she began to head towards the Nurses office. "Copper, Zinc. Follow me." The two Brass golems headed after her.

James was in a very good mood today, after escaping Marcus and getting a full nights sleep he was ready for anything. Except his summons to the nurse's office, he went all the same though, curiosity getting the best of him.

"Alright, let's see what's going on here shall we?" James rushed to the nurse's office and entered the door. "James Callis, you asked for me?"

Markus eventually got bored with waiting and turned to walk away, trying to make himself feel better about not finding James with the justification that finding him later and breaking his sense of calm would be all the more sweeter.

He awoke the next morning ready to begin the hunt, stopping first at the library to copy a new spell, something to compensate for his lack of a ranged attack, the thrill of eventually being able to duel someone this year making the copying easy. He rose to begin searching anew before hearing his presence was requested in the nurse's office.

"Strange, seems most of the events of my life this year have revolved around there, I wonder if it`s a sign of things to come, well if they want me so bad they`re gonna have to come...wait a minute, did I just hear James being called?, well now I just have to go, oh is`nt he gonna be surprised to see me" Markus started laughing loudly as he began walking towards the nurse's office.

After awhile, Sofia had given up on finding James and just went back to her dorm. She found Markus waiting by the dorms as well, so presumably he hadn't found James either. Sofia wondered where he'd gone, but the fact that he was safe was much more important. It had been yet another crazy day for Sofia, so she went back to her room and crawled into bed. "I need some better spells... Well, I can always go to the library tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be so crazy again." She muttered to herself as she drifted off to sleep.

But it looked like Sunday would be just as crazy as Sofia was awakened by a loud knocking on her door and what sounded like Courtney's voice telling her to go the nurse's office. "Ugh... I was hoping to sleep in some more..." Sofia groaned as she rolled out of bed and got changed. "Wonder what this is all about though. I hope I'm not gonna get in trouble for yesterday..." She had left that classroom a mess, and she was using magic against the rules. Either way, not going wouldn't help anything so she left her room and made her way to the nurses office.

When she got there she was glad to see James apparently unharmed. "James! So, you got away after all huh? That's great! And- Whoa... Are you alright Damien?! You look pretty beat up!"

James had been expecting to see Damien standing somewhere perfectly recovered, this being a magic school after all so he thought that Damien wasn't present when he first entered, not looking in the patient beds.

"Oh, that looks really serious, I heard people saying you ended the fight when you weren't even conscious but I had idea you were beaten up this bad!" James turned around to look at Sofia, glad to see she was unharmed.

"Thank you so much again for helping me out, I was getting really worried you were going to get hurt by that creep. You know he was waiting for me at the dorms? Lucky I was helped with an invisibility spell. Did you scare him off with an MEC line? I would have tried that if he caught me."

Mei stepped in with a light tap. She quickly brushed her hair out of her face and looked around the room. "Well, its good to see you aren't dead, Damien. You had quite a fight back there." She brushed a bit of something off her shoulder.

"I don't suppose you called me in here to congratulate me on my promotion to vice-president of the nursing club, did you?" She looked at him with minor amusement.

Markus strode through the door of the nurse's office a huge smile on his face, he pretended to act surprised as he saw James, laughing softly to himself as he walked over to him.

"hey I remember you, you were that kid who had the ketchup on his face yesterday, man that was fun, well except for the fact you lied to me and I really don`t like being lied to and I really hate liars,do you know what I do with the things I hate?,I try my best to get rid of them so...by extension that would mean that I`d have to get rid of you now would`nt it?" Markus asked, a crooked smile on his face, his mind trying to picture exactly what James was gonna do next.

Damien tried to keep up with all the people speaking at once. "I'll live. I always do. Wait until everyone gets here." Damien slowly let the comments flood over him until everyone had been gathered, like he had asked for. "Alright, I'm glad everyone decided to come." Damien sat up straighter in the bed. "Alright, enough! Mei, congrats on making it to VP. I don't know who the president is, but he must be damn good for you not to have his spot." Damien shrugged and faced everyone who was assembled. "Good morning everyone, thank you for coming. As you all saw, I got beaten up pretty bad in that Magic King of the Ring match yesterday. It left me with a minor concussion, severly bruised ribs, burned soles, and a few other injuries that I probably won't notice until I move or are too unimportant. Long story short, I'm more or less out of the picture, and today's gonna be hell. I know you guys are able to deal with the problems, and so I need you guys to make sure the final day of the Studet Festival goes smoothly. Can I count on you to do this?" Damien knew he could count on those who had signed the sheet, and Mei Feng could be threatened if necessary, but Markus... Markus had to be goaded.

Damien then turned to Markus, a plan in his mind.. "You know what? Funny thing, but I hate liars too. And you're lying to yourself if you actually believe you're challenging James to a Duel over your 'slighted' honor. He put a dab of ketchup on his face; even a child could see through it. You would challenge someone who breathe in your general direction; why do you think I turn down most of your duel applications? If you wish to duel someone, duel someone with your general level of magic. Otherwise, it's no fun, no?" Damien stopped and smiled. "Here, I have a deal for you. Launch a spell right here." Damien drew an X right on his chest. "If you manage to seriously hurt me, your next twenty Duels will be approved no matter what. 50 if you break a rib. However," Damien smiled evilly, "If you can't even do that much, then you have to do what I say and help the MEC maintain order. Either way you get to fight, so do you accept?" Damien hoped he had at least interested Markus. He desperately needed the sophomores' power to contain the other sophomores.

"Well, I did try that out actually... It didn't work though. He doesn't back down easily. Still, I'm glad we both manged to get away alright." Sofia said with a small smile. She wasn't sure how she felt about the two of them coming up with the same trick, but it didn't really matter now. "And speak of the devil..." She muttered as Markus came in and wasted no time picking right back up where he had left off yesterday.

Sofia was about to step in when Damien interrupted and explained what he wanted with all of them. Ugh... I had a feeling this would happen. Can I really do this? It looks like it'll be me James, Mei, and.... Markus. He can probably handle himself, but he seems like the type to be starting fights rather than breaking them up... Sofia's analysis of the current situation was interrupted by Damien's proposal which nearly made her jaw drop. He was already really beat up, and now he was asking Markus to hit him as hard as he could? "A-are you crazy?!" She couldn't stop herself from blurting it out.

Markus' eye twitched as he stepped away from James. "oh no Sofia I believe he`s entirely serious, Damien`s the kind of guy who would`nt say something without meaning it" Markus said with an evil smile on his face, the deal was too good to pass up his mail box was already stuffed to the brim with rejected applications so finally being able to just challenge someone and duel them would be great, but Markus was`nt stupid he knew he had the advantage here, so he decided to press it.

"alright, you got yourself a deal, although I`d like to add another condition if I manage to hurt you, an outcome, that judging by your shit-eating grin you think is unlikely, the condition is that when you`re fully healed, I get to duel you, no exceptions, the moment all your bones are healed, all your cuts gone, when all your bruises have disappeared, then we duel, so how does that sound to you hmm?" Markus replied, knowing that as one of the more powerful sophomores he`d be invaluable in keeping order and that Damien had no other option than to accept or be left with only Mei to stop the sophomores.

Mei looked puzzled "The president is Simon." She stopped for a second "Actually you might not have known him. Your social circles were quite different." She paused at Markus's comment and thought for a second, minutely frowning. "What if he develops scar tissue? Or his bones don't mend properly? Or his skin acquires a unusual discolouration? Ever thought of that? That was quite a duel Damien got himself into. He might also need time for rehabilitation, you know, if you stay in bed too long your muscles might atrophy, which let me tell you is quite excruciating. It would be irresponsible for the Vice President of the Nursing Club to let such comments fly with reckless abandon as you have." With that she turned on Damien, "And you! The injured should not antagonize others!" She addressed the two simultaneously, "AND THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO ACTS OF VIOLENCE IN THE NURSE'S OFFICE! ESPECIALLY IF THE INJURED ARE INVOLVED! I WILL NOT ALLOW IT!"

She breathed out. "Now that that's out of the way, Damien, as I am sorry I cause the scalding on your feet, I will join. Now I need you to stay awake for twenty-four hours to make sure that there is nothing serious about the concussion."

A few of you might have noticed my not posting over the last week, and the simple answer is that there were a few family issues. I'm sorry for the absence, and I hope it does not happen again. Also, sorry for the short post, it's something, at any rate.
Aina hesitantly entered the nurse's office and saw the very injured man on the bed. She cautiously approached the man and recognized him as the loser in the duel.

"Huh, hello, si... sir, I was told that you wanted to se... see me. I do not know exactly wh... why, but I will help, if you need it." She tried to keep her voice above the pitch of the room, but even she could tell it was mostly drowned out by the din of the room. She stood by the bed respectfully, straightened herself, and hoped that, for once, she would be noticed.

Mei noticed the new girl stuttering to Damien, her smile twitched as she was completely distracted from what just happened, "You're that girl from yesterday right? I don't believe we've been introduced. I am Mei Feng, Vice president of the Nursing club. Also known as the Brass Queen." Mei opened her eyes slightly wide than normal, staring intently at Aina's face. "You know... you're pretty cute." She didn't sound interested, but more of just mentally noting down the obvious, once finished staring at Aina, she turned back to Damien. "Well Damien, I'd like to make a request. Since we all have disadvantages of some sort, I think we should work in pairs. A buddy system so to speak. So what do you say?"

Damien nodded at Mei's suggestion, tacitly ignoring her last outburst. "But of course. I had planned for such an occasion. I'm about 12 hours into my 24-hour no sleep zone, so I had to do something to keep myself awake." Damien chuckled before handing over a sheet that stated who was paired with whom and why.
Code:
[b]People:[/b]
Mei
Markus
Aina
Sophia
James
[b]Teams:[/b]
Mei & Aina: Aina will be able to protect Mei using both Shield and Vision magic, while Mei?s ?Legion of the Gunbuster? magic will be able to apprehend all delinquents. Remember: you can?t apprehend anyone if you?re in the hospital bed next to me.
Sophia & James: James will be able to distract and hide both himself and Sophia with illusions while Sophia apprehends delinquents with Shadow Bind. Note: James, that ?shocker? spell you learned is actually quite powerful, and is able to temporarily paralyze opponents. Use it as you will.
Markus & Damien: A special team. Markus, you are more or less on your own for this one, but use the earpiece attached to the note so I can keep track of you and point you in the right direction. Remember, you are currently keeping the peace, not tearing it to shreds. Try to leave all delinquents in the same general shape as when you found them.
Everyone, your job is to finish a fight as quickly as possible. Stun the opponents, then quickly remove their Plates and bring them back. We?ll sort out whose plate is whose later. Please don?t get hurt.
Damien waited until everyone had read the paper before lowering himself into a wheelchair, wincing as he did so. ?Alright, here are your assignments. Mei and Aina, there are a few freshmen and sophomores messing with Club spells, making them do the opposite of what they were supposed to do, etc. They?re in the Main Gym. Try and corral them into a classroom so they can?t run. Sophia and James, there are a bunch of freshmen stealing plates and hiding them all over the school. We can find the plates later, but for now, apprehend the plate stealers and bring them back here, using their own plates as bait. I want to have a few words with them. Those guys are in the Main Gym, North Wing.? Here Damien looked positively demonic. Plate stealing was the worst crime in Cascade, due to the sheer importance of a plate. Finally, Damien turned to Markus. ?Your job is one I think you?ll rather like. There have been reports of a group of sophomores who have been engaging in unofficial duels in the West Wing. Stop them.? Damien then pulled a few papers from his bag and began to sign them. He handed the two over to Mei. One was a temporary release form, and the other was a duel form, both with the MEC stamp of approval. ?There?s the paperwork necessary to cover yourself, so if you don?t mind?? Damien slowly wheeled himself away from the room and into the hallway, where he sat there, waiting. ?This is an official duel, approved by the Branch Chief of the MEC. The combatants are Damien and Markus, both sophomores. The victor is decided by a single spell. Markus has a single chance to injure Damien with a spell. If he does so, he is the victor. If not, then Damien wins. Let the duel commence.? Damien stated in a monotone. He hoped Markus would have the brains to at least leave the nurse room before attacking.

Mei began to say something then sighed tiredly. "Very well. Mei Feng and Aina... Mei-mei will be leaving for the gym. Please do not do anything to disrupt any of the medical equipment, nor harrass any students we send here... Well... I suppose I can over look those actions... Just after this is done get back into bed please. Also inform Simon that I will not be able do my hours to day so he can have any of our underclassmen who are in need od service hours." She turned to Aina with an interested look in her eyes. "Come on now, Mei-mei." She spoke with authority, addressing Aina. "The day is still young and we have work to do. This is finally getting interesting." She clicked her cane against the floor as she walked out the door.

Copper and Zinc looked casually back at the wheelchair bound man and his standing opponent and looked at each other, shaking their heads. They then proceeded to follow their mistress out of the room.

Aina, though used to being complemented by much older men hoping to get on her father's good side or boys trying to get at her father's riches, was not used to it from women. She did, however, bare with it, though she did blush a quite bright shade of red. When she learned that she would be working with Mei, though, she turned positively crimson. Okay, I will have to work with her... it's for everyone's well being. I can handle some embarrassment if it means keeping people safe.

Her thoughts were broken, though, when she was addressed by Mei. "Yes, ma'am." Aina said as she followed Mei out the door. She walked rigid and stiff, as though the walk was rehearsed.

"Miss Mei, what is your plan of attack? We will be outnumbered and outgunned if we just storm in, so maybe we should make a plan. Perhaps a sneak attack, or maybe use duplicates of yourself to make them think there are more of you." She looked slightly worried, hoping that Mei would not find the ideas silly.
