Markus shrugged before finding a nearby chair to sit on looking around at the nurse's room, he never liked doctors' offices they were always too clean for his tastes but he assumed it came with the territory so he never held it against them. "eh it`s okay, not like I have much else to do with my time, it`s either this or wander around the school thinking of something to do" Markus said with a sigh turning his head upwards towards the ceiling.

While he paced the halls of Cascade High, James thought more on how things were going to play out over the following days. The more he thought about it, abosolute anarchy didn't sound so bad, the huge brawls that erupted back at his old school had been fun so surely such chaos in a magic school would be even more hiliarious. In fact, why wait for the confusion to start up? Wouldn't it be a great idea to try and get the ball rolling right now? Laughing like a lunatic in the empty hallway, James sprinted off towards the cafeteria.

As he had hoped, the place was completely abandoned, leaving James free to stroll right up to one of the tables and nick the bottle of ketchup on it. From there he asked directions to the nurse's office and stopped short just down the hallway. After checking to see no one was looking, James quickly made a trail of ketchup leading down from the side of his lip and added another one coming down from under his nose. Content with his rather poor attempt to appear injured, James carelessly tossed the ketchup bottle off somewhere down the hallway and adopted a limp and a pained expression.

After a minute of so of his terrible staggering walk, James was able to stumble through the door of the nurse's office.

"It's all going to hell out there! People running on the walls, throwing fireballs around, I think I saw someone get thrown through a wall! You've got to get out there and deal with it!"

Markus raised one eyebrow before slowly turning his head to face James a look that all but screamed 'your kidding me right?' on his face, he slowly raised himself up from his chair and walked over to him. Markus stared at James for a second giving him the evil eye, or the best kind of evil eye he could give, upon closer inspection he saw that he had put ketchup on his face as a substitute for blood he knew James was lying, but he decided to play along knowing that he could turn this into a reason to challenge James to a duel later "kid, you realize that no one in this room has any obligation to actually do anything about that right?, I mean mei`s a nurse so all she does is try and fix people up when they`re broken and me, well I just don`t give a good god damn about stopping whatever`s going on out there" Markus let out a Quiet chuckle before continuing "In fact I may just join in, sounds like fun" Markus smiled as he made his way for the door "see you guys later, oh and kid you got ketchup on your face, you should clean that up" Markus commented over his shoulder as he started down towards the cafeteria knowing he would find nothing.

"Oh..." James quickly tried to wipe the ketchup off his face, "must have missed that." James was practically quaking after the evil eye Marcus had just given him and he could only watch as Marcus started down the hall towards the cafeteria.

"Hmmm, he's going to kill me when he gets back isn't he? Maybe time for a new plan, I call this one...Operation Run Like The Wind!" James sprinted out of the Nurse's office and bolted in the opposite direction Marcus had run, randomly fleeing through different corridors. Of course hiding requires alot less effort than running does so when James spotted a cupboard door he wrenched it open and darted in. Without even checking what it contained he pulled the door closed and waited in the pitch-black darkness.

"Ha! James one, creepy guy with an evil stare zilch! I'm the best in the game."

Mei looked blankly at James as walked in and sighed. "Ketchup? Really?" She sighed again this time it was a very tired and world weary sigh. "Well if he wants to pretend to be a patient... I guess I'll oblige." Copper and Zinc shrunk to around 1" each and ceased moving. She pulled out a larger minifigure and placed her card against it. "Nursing angel Nono." The figure grew to about 2 feet tall and carried a large syringe. It had large brass angel wings. "Target- injured runner. Bring him back. Hostile force prohibited." The figure's wings flapped and she took off at absurd speeds chasing after James. She sighed and sat down "Today is just one of those days isn't it, Noriko-san." She snagged a magazine out of the basket and began perusing it.

After a short while of silence, James decided he could chance a glance outside, unfortunately he had the worst timing in history because the moment he opened the door and stuck his head out, what appeared to be a flying statue of some description barreled right into it. The door flew back and cracked James in the face for real this time.

"What in the devil?" James clutched his bleeding nose and glared at his assailant, "Wait, that actually is the devil!" James made several warding gestures and even tried a few latin words he remembered from somewhere but the statue just stared at him. "Begone! Plague the land of mortals no more!" The statue just grabbed James with its free hand and dragged him back the Nurse's office while James dragged his feet and swore profusely. Of course instead of being dragged off to the pits of hell James was unceremoniously dumped onto the floor of the Nurse's office. Recognising Mei from earlier his fear was replaced with anger.

"What's all this then eh? I'm sure there's a rule in here somewhere against violent assault and kidnapping!" James neglected to mention his injury was the result of him opening the door at the wrong time. "I hope you have a damn good lawyer, I'll be seeing you in court for this!" Of course James had never so much as even seen a lawyer in real life but he often threatened to take people to court because he thought it sounded impressive.

Mei continued to read the magazine unfazed and the "statue" pointed at the rules posted at the door. Which she read in a voice that sounds remarkably like Mei's voice...
1. We will treat all injuries as serious injuries. Fake injuries will be treated as serious injuries as well.
2. The injured are not allowed to leave the nurses office without consent of the nurse or member of the nursing club.
3. The injured are forbidden from running away. On duty students and teachers are permitted to use any non-lethal means to secure the safety of the student.

Mei snickered at his lawyer remark and looked up from her magazine and notice the bloody nose. She then frowned and looked very irritated. "Magic out." The Angel turned back into a minifigure and Mei put it in her bag. "Well as she wasn't supposed to do that, I suppose I'll fix you up." She got up and grabbed some cotton balls and placed one in each of his nostrils. "A word to the wise. Be careful tomorrow. I've got a feeling its going to be a Mǔgǒu of a day." Mei picked up a clipboard scribbled some words and circled some things and handed it and a pen to James saying, "Sign here and you'll be free to go."

"Indeed!" James tried to look dignified with two cotton balls stuck in his nostrils and falled miserably. He took the pen and rather than writing a signature like a normal person he wrote "Wouldn't you like to know" and handed it back to her. James stomped out of the room, making sure to leave the door open until he was out of earshot and pulled his plate out, whispering over it "Shocked to meet you." There was a faint crackling sound as a small electrical charge came to life around James' palm, unnoticable until something touched it. Rearranging his face back into a friendly smile he ran back into the room, holding his hand out to Mei.

"Oh I'm sorry, I left without thanking you for your help, I don't really think we met on proper terms last time, James Callis at your service, pleasure to meet you!" James not at all pleased about being seized by flying golems or whatever the hell that was and was hoping he could at least shock Mei.

Mei picked up the clipboard, crossed out wouldn't you like to know and wrote in James Callis, She then turned back to him looking paler than usual, and sat down her voice seeming tired. "I'm sorry. But if you aren't injured I'll have to have you wait outside. And if you're going to surprise someone, please try to not do something with the likelyhood of killing them." She smiled weakly. "And it wasn't your magic this time that warned me." Her eyes became bored, "It was the fact you stomped out."

"You... Oh you've got to be kidding me! Failed again!" James, forgetting the spell was still active slapped his hand against his leg in frustration, discharging the shock into his own body. James' leg spasmed suddenly and he cried out, hopping into the air on one leg before crashing to the ground and rolling around in a blind panic.

"I'm hit! I'm hit! I'm dying, critical heart failure, struck down by some cowa_ oh wait..." James realised he hadn't been attacked by anyone and had just accidentally zapped himself. "Er..." James sheepishly scrambled back to his feet and backed out of the room. "I'll just go now shall I? I'm going to pretend that never happened." James left the vicinity in a hurried fashion, yet another magical failure under his belt, James' ability to make a fool out of himself had only increased with enrollment in a magic school.

Markus turned from the corridor into the cafeteria, his expectations completely fulfilled as he saw the completely deserted room, he laughed for a few seconds before turning around and heading back to the nurse's office holding his card in between his middle and index fingers.

"I`m finally going to duel someone this year, well that is if he is`nt a complete wuss and decides to run off and hide somewhere" Markus muttered to himself, a sinister smile on his face as he started ascending the stairs to the nurse's office. "I wonder if they ever question the practicality of putting an office where people will more than likely be carried to on a stretcher, at the top of a flight of stairs?" Markus mused to himself before reaching the top seeing no sight of James anywhere.

Markus stuck his head in the door to the nurse's office "hey Mei, you know where that kid with the ketchup on his face went?, I need to have a...talk with him about something".

Mei smiled menacingly "Considering what that punk just tried to do could have stopped my heart permanently... I'll happily tell you that he just ran out of the room with a stunned leg. He shouldn't be terribly hard to catch up with." She gesture grinned more menacingly to herself. "He thinks magic is all fun and games but it isn't for some people its a matter of life and death." She pulled some miniatures out of her hand bag and placed them on the counter and began arranging them in a bizarre pattern. Most of them looked like normal brass minifigures of anime characters but some of them were deformed, the one in the middle particularly stood out, for the most part it looked like a feminine figure with long hair poking out back of her helmet which drops away to reveal jaws like a bear trap and a massive armoured left arm with a huge parody of a human hand, claws and everything. "Adorable."

"What a crazy day this has turned out to be..." Sofia muttered to herself as she wandered the halls. It seemed a bit too early to head back to her dorm, but she wasn't sure what else to do. Study maybe? Nah. Go check out the rest of the booths? Oh, look. James is getting dragged away kicking and screaming by a flying angel. Weird. Hmmm...Maybe a nap would be good right about now. Wait, what?! Sofia was so out of it that she almost paid no mind to James being kidnapped. From what she knew of James, he probably deserved it and she hadn't really received any duties for the MEC yet, but this still seemed like something she should check out.

Following the sounds of James' foul language, Sofia eventually found herself near what appeared to be the nurse's office. It seemed like a bizarre place to be taken to by an angel, but everything about this situation defied what little sense of logic Sofia had left at this point. As she approached, James came running out of the room and straight towards Sofia. "James! What happened in there?! I saw you get dragged away by that weird flying thing and.... Are you okay?" She asked, noticing that James was limping a bit and had cotton balls stuffed up his nose.

James skidded to a stop in front of Sofia and looked relieved she wasn't trying to kill him, between those weird statues Mei had that Marcus guy who was probably hoping to brutally murder him that was a rare sight.

"Sofia! Finally someone who isn't a murderous psychopath, you have no idea how glad I am to see you. See I was hiding in a cupboard when I was attacked by that angel thing then one of my spells backfired and crippled my leg. I think some guy with a weird accent wants to kill me as well, something to do with ketchup I think." James finally paused to take a breath, looking anxiously behind him. "I don't know what to do, I can't run much further and duelling is against the rules even if I was any good at it." James was actually looking a bit scared at this point, this was probably the first situation he couldn't escape from by fleeing.

Sofia nodded slowly as she tried to make sense of everything that James had said. It was no use though, the part about the guy wanting to kill him over ketchup had her totally lost. Her best guess was the James had tried to play a trick on someone and they hadn't appreciated it much. She was ready to tell him he was getting what he deserved when she noticed how scared he looked. Seeing him like that made Sofia feel kinda sorry for him and she knew she wouldn't be able to just walk away with a clear conscience.

"Well.... Alright, let's see if I can't help you out." Sofia finally said as she tried to think up a good way to get out of this mess. Judging by the way James was looking over his shoulder, they probably didn't have much time. Since they were in a magic school now, it would be a good idea to use magic. Even though she wasn't officially in the MEC yet, she figured this was as good a reason as any to bend the rules a bit. And if everything went according to plan, she wouldn't even be using magic against someone else.

Having made up her mind, Sofia studied James carefully for a moment to make her spell work properly. Then she took out her plate and pushed it into her chest, whispering "Doppelganger." As she did so. She took on the form of James and then turned back to him. "Alright, you get out of sight. If this guy's really after you, he'll think I'm you and chase after me. I'll get out of his sight for a bit and then dispel my magic so he'll think he lost you. When the coast is clear, get somewhere safe and stay there. I'll meet up with you later and make sure you got away. Alright?" Sofia asked to make sure he understood the plan. It was a bit risky on her part, but playing soccer had given her confidence in her running abilities. And if worst came to worst, she still had Clear Clean to help her get away.

"You... You're actually going to help me?" A huge smile lit up James' face, "Thank you so much! I won't forget your help, I owe you big time for this!" James quickly looked over his doppelganger, trying to overcome the shock of standing in front of himself. "That's a great copy, watch yourself ok? I'd hate to see someone else hurt over this, good luck and thanks again!" James moved away as quickly as he could, staying out in the open was a bad idea so he made his way to yet another cupboard and quickly hid inside. James was so surprised someone would actually help him he was actually acting serious for once.

"I suppose this is a clear warning not to prank anyone in a magic school eh?" James slid down the back wall of the cupboard and waited in the darkness. His plan was to stay in here until his leg recovered, then he would make his way back to his dormroom where could hopefully keep out of trouble.

"thanks, now if you`ll excuse me, I have people to see, things to do, accusations of injuring a student to deny, that sort of thing" Markus started to walk back into the corridors before turning back "oh and if or when you see that kid again, tell him to cut back on the lies, I think you know this better than most, but shit like this will earn him worse than a beating around here" Markus commented before again turning back to the corridors a maniacal laugh of child-like glee involuntarily escaping from his mouth as he descended the stairs.

Markus strode around the corridors as quietly as possible, a feat which was made difficult by the fact his footsteps echoed off the cavernous walls of the corridors. He could`nt wait to find James, just so he could give him some spiel about being mad at him for lying and then get down to the real reason of challenging him to a duel, that was all it was about really but to Markus it was a lot more fun if you could 'dress up' the challenge a little before actually dropping it on them.

He turned a corner before seeing what he thought was James, Markus smiled as he walked up to him without saying a word and put his arm around his shoulder to stop him from running away. "hey kid, I went to the cafeteria like you said and would`nt you know it, that oh-so-fun riot you told me about was`nt there, there was`nt even any damage to the surrounding property, now that can mean one of two things, one, there are no students willing to take advantage of a school without any MEC around, which we should both know is pretty damn unlikely or two, You lied to me just for a cheap joke" Markus put on a smile which was almost demonic in nature before continuing "now I hope for your sake it`s not the second one because then something bad would happen and you really don`t want something bad to happen do you?" Markus said in the most obviously fake friendly tone of voice he could muster, keeping his arm around James' neck.

As James went into hiding, Sofia heard an eerie laugh from somewhere in the school. Was this the guy who was after James? Some weirdo who gets his kicks out of scaring people and acting like a cliched movie villain? Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. She wasn't a big fan of crazy guys, but it was too late to have second thoughts now. She saw him turn the corner and approach her. He certainly looked like a pretty scary guy, and definitely someone neither she nor James would want to tangle with. It seemed like her spell worked though, and he certainly thought she was James.

She had waited a little too long to run though, before she could get away he had an arm around her shoulder and started asking her about some sort of riot in the cafeteria. Was that James' prank? It seemed like something he would pull, dumb but pointless overall. Who would get this worked up over a little walk to the cafeteria?! James may not be the greatest guy ever, but this guy was a bully. And Sofia HATED bullies more than anything. That anger overrode her common sense momentarily. "Magic out." She said, removing her plate and returning to her real form. Seeing James turn into a girl would certainly surprise the guy at least and she took advantage of that moment. "Magic in. Shadow Bind!" She dropped her plate into her shadow, which was almost certainly touching his since they were so close.

But wait.... Now what was she supposed to be doing? She didn't really know any spells she could use to fight this guy. She had really gotten carried away, and blown her cover. Now her only hope was to get away and as soon as she stepped off his shadow he'd be free to move again. Her only choice was to get as far away as she could stepping back until their shadows were just barely touching then removed her plate. "Magic out. Magic in, Clear Clean." She took her plate and then immediately pushed it back into her chest making her invisible with Clear Clean before taking off down the corridor, zigzagging to the left and right to dodge any attacks he might throw at her.

Markus blinked for a second standing there in silence before moving him arm up and down, checking to see if the spell had worn off. "well I have to hand it to the girl, I certainly was`nt prepared for that" Markus said grabbing his card out of his pocket ready to give chase. Not because he did`nt like Sofia, she seemed nice enough, what with agreeing to face his wrath in place of James but she probably had some info about the guy he was really after and what else did he have to go on?.

"Magic In.Bat country!" he placed his card in the palm of his hand, a swarm of bats flying from his sleeves, he made them solid and directed them to form a line covering the width of the corridor twice over, one at neck level and the other skirting one inch above ground, he pushed the bats forward keeping them in a straight line, checking for any bumps or inconsistencies in the line as these would be tell tale signs of someone invisible.

Hearing him call out the name of a spell, Sofia turned and jogged backwards for a bit to get a look at what her opponent was up to. She was none too pleased to see two lines of bats heading towards her. Ugh, what do I do? Are they real or an illusion? Can they hurt me? I don't know if I can outrun them... But I have to do something! The longer Sofia thought, the less time she had to do anything. Soon, she was left with no choice but to open the door to the nearest classroom and try to hide inside, making sure to leave the door open so she would have an escape route.

Once inside she used what little time she had left to prepare. She opened one of the windows and then quickly tossed a chair out of it. "Magic out. Magic in. Doppelganger!" She dispelled her Clear Clean and used Doppelganger to take the place of the missing chair. If all went according to plan, her opponent would come in, see the open window and think she had escaped that way. Meanwhile, she would leave while he was heading the wrong way and then head back to the safety of her dorm.
